Australian police find 328 guns, 4.2 tons of ammo at farm

How is it even conceivable that children don't qualify??? At the very core of human decency it should at least be the other way around. Very disturbing. Please update with what you find out.

Calling all wood cutters, loggers and chainsaw enthusiasts
Lumber_Jack replied to Spots's topic in General Chat
In the US Forest Service we used semi-chisel and don't use those anti-kickback chains. They work for their purpose but render the tip and upper tip of the bar useless. Plunge cutting is a useful skill in cutting. When you use big saws, kick back is a concern. But if you keep a firm grip on the saw it's very difficult to actually cut yourself. It's when you start being dumb and using a loose grip or take your left(non trigger) hand off the saw that it can hurt you bad. -
Vortex StrikeFire - Broken?

Call me Mac or PM. I'll come look at it. Mine is in JC but I can at least tell you if it looks normal. -
I bought the e-book last week. Ive just barely started and I can tell it's going to paint a vivd picture

$50-$75 is what the few on craigslist are listed.

Looks like it could be tungsten carbide. Also fairly inexpensive as far as rings go, about $400. If it looks like new with no scratches it's probably tungsten as it's very hard.
We are on out way to have our Ernie Bird put down. The last 36 hours he has begun to show signs of getting worse. It is unfair to him to let him linger to satisfy our hopes of him getting better. He is only four and even now we struggle to try to comprehend why this happened.
I'm sorry man. If you need anything let me know. Sad day indeed. Much love to Ernie.

Yeah I'm not sure what CMMG claims that. Also note the gas block seat is .936" so finding a gas block might be difficult. And it might not fit under some free float rails If you want a pistol length gas on a 16" you have two good options. 1) wait and find a Noveske for $455 2) call Ron Williams

Speer Lawman call them TMJ (total metal jacket) meaning the same. But DaveTN essentially answered the question.

I would just go with the 16" it works just fine. You gain about 20fps for every inch of barrel length so you are actually gaining a small amount. The argument is that you dont loose much going all the way down to 8" or even shorter. 1:8 is perfectly fine for most weights up to 220 grain, if you go heavier I'd probably get a 1:7 barrel. Id buy either if the price is best, both will work fine adjustable gas block is a great asset. Carbine length gas system will work fine for all supersonic ammo, and may work with subsonic but may not be reliable. If you want the best of both worlds Id get a 16" barrel with a pistol length gas system. Google Ron Williams Xtreme, he'll turn you a barrel for about $225 email rmwxtreme@verizon.net If I were going to buy and off the shelf barrel Id buy one from Alpha Shooting Sports, good prices. I have one in 10.5". Appears they have 2 16" carbine gas in-stock http://www.shop.ar15hardware.com/300-Black-Out_c44.htm Or buy one from Rainier Arms https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=3385 Ive heard mixed reports on the AR Stoner barrels so I personally would steer clear of them. Some gas ports were misaligned, may have fixed the problem but there are better options for the same or less money
Interesting. That might explain why the one guy was out of sight where I couldn't see the vacuum.
Exactly. If you show up with the vacuum visible most people say no automatically. The idea is to trick your way in the door. And another note, we used to start selling at 10am and worked until 8pm or later. So it's not unusual to be working after dark especially this time if year. Again I would say no to anyone wanting to enter my house in the daylight let alone after dark. Some salesman are legit a lot are not good people. -
Stupid me-don't open the door for ANYONE
Lumber_Jack replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
They were selling vacuums. It's the exact pitch we used when I got caught up in that buisness. 1)you go to the door with a free gift and give the story of floor cleaning products. If the homeowner agrees you give them the free gift (floor whipes in this case) and the "manager" grabs a vacuum and rushes in the door before the homeowner has a chance to change their mind or object. 2) they actually do get paid for just giving the demo. It's like if you give 10 demos a week you get $300 or something similar. 3) most of them are on probation or drug heads. I got I. The job because I was young and naive. It was an eye opening experience for sure. I don't think they were trying to rob you but I agree 100% that you shouldn't let those people in your house. Cause let's face it they are salesman today but who knows what tomorrow brings. -
Very nice. Where did you find the Noveske barrel?

Honestly the Barska 1.5-4.5X20 is a really good cheap scope. I wouldn't trust it to hold zero on a heavy caliber but it's done well on my 10/22 http://www.opticsplanet.com/barska-1-5-4-5x20-ir-tactical-riflescope-ac10770.html -
Vortex StrikeFire - Broken?
Lumber_Jack replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Neil, it's not the brightness, although setting it is squirrely. Well, maybe maximum brightness isn't bright enough, not sure, plenty bright except in full outdoor sun, but maybe that's as bright as it gets, dunno. It's that main complaint is that it's not a "dot" at all, but a messy looking patchwork thing. It's not even one solid shape. It's now actually changed shape (s) into something a bit different that it was before. I'll do photos and post Sunday night, need them to show Vortex probably anyway. - OS
Yeah that's not normal. Mine is a definitive circle except on super bright it can get blown out a little. -
Vortex StrikeFire - Broken?
Lumber_Jack replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Mac, I would check the battery and make sure it's good. If your certain it's not the NV being activated just call Vortex they will replace it. It should be bright enough to see even in the lowest setting
