Vortex StrikeFire - Broken?
Lumber_Jack replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
So I looked at mine closely today. On the lowest brightness and magnified the dot is a group of small dots but not scattered like yours Mac. I feel very confident that yours is just a manufacturers defect. On a moderate level of brightness the mini dots are indiscernible and it's a single red dot. Just wanted to verify my memory wasn't off -

The drivers skull fractured completely exposing the entire top of his brain.
Anybody into Manhattans? I just discovered an amazing vermouth. Vya. Makes outrageous Manhattans.
I'm quoting this again just to reiterate how good that Vermouth is. I had a Manhattan out at dinner last night, with top shelf bourbon and it was subpar to the ones at home with Vya.
I'll have to look. What does Federal normally use?
.45 is generally loaded with large primers but a few years ago some Federal came through Walmart that had small primers. No big deal unless you reload, then you gotta keep the two separate It's easy to tell. If it's the same as 9mm it's small primer. Sent from my iPad using Voodoo magic
If Target sold Wal-Mart now we'd all bitch about it being too expensive. I got a 100 round box of Federal .45 for only $38 the other day. I was pretty happy with that.
That's a good price. Was is small primer or large primer? Sent from my iPad using Voodoo magic
I can't see a nice round dot, even on my Aimpoint. The circle dot on my Eotech optics is fine, and so is the T Dot on my Bushnell. My eyes just can't resolve a single bright dot. It's one of the reasons I prefer Eotech.
This was like a 12 MOA misshapen splatter. It wasn't remotely round. It was skewed to the upper right. I even told Mac that the dot can bleed some but this is an obvious flawed piece. -
Just FYI, These shouldnt be affiliated with A&E and the brand "Duck Dynasty" but rather the Commader brand that they built long before the show. The one that actually produces duck and deer calls. I have no problem with them producing anything they choose and selling it.

I find it difficult to imagine how you could pull the trigger without engaging the grip saftey. What are you going to leverage against to get the trigger to pull? If you can get a finger on the trigger, where is the gun in relation to the rest of your hand? but....what do I know, I carry a Glock.

Sounds to me like the recoil spring is too week, but that should last more like 2000 rounds than 1000. I had the same issue with a 4" Kimber. turns out the recoil spring was just worn too much to return the slide to battery. I replaced it with a Wolf spring and it ran like a top.

Maybe not, but I'd be very surprised if Beneli didn't give some form of "consideration" for use and visibility of their products on the show.
Yeah they've been sponsored by Benelli since long before the DD show.
Let me be the first.... That thing is ugly and is insulting to the elegant lines of the original 51.
Glocks are ugly too, but I carry one every day. If it functions and fills a gap in my carry repertoire I'll give it a fair shake. I don't like it aesthetically as much as the sig 938, but it's have the cost and no thumb safety. You can always buy another gun for showing off ;)

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel sticking out of his fly. Bartender says "hey do you know you have a steering wheel in your pants" Pirate says "Aye, it's drivin me nuts"
??? Did i miss something? Its chambered in 9mm
Point here was that by the time .22lr is readily available this gun will be on the market long enough to have good reviews or the bugs worked out

Vortex StrikeFire - Broken?

Agreed. It's totally worth the price if it's working correctly. I'd request cabals send a prepaid postage since it's defective. May not, but I'd request anyhow -

The dot looked more like a shotgun pattern of mini-dots. And the brightness control only worked sporadically. Definitely not the way mine operates or looks. Sent from my iPad using Voodoo magic -

I'm sure a google of "color fill lower receiver" will get the thread
maybe, but the root document is concerned with import compliance (and would include verification by Customs Department). I am sure it is in practice interpreted in any manner convenient at the moment to .gov.
I see. Well that's all I could find on caliber designation
That appears to be an import, and not domestic origen requirement.
I'm not so sure. It says Importation AND verification. But I've been wrong before
That's what I was asking. When did that start?
Not sure. #5 on list http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/importation-verification/firearms-verification-overview.html
Why put anything?
ATF requires a caliber designation of some type.
