You made my point. The colleges are supposed to be a breading ground for education not sports players. College sports should not be profit centers, but instead an outlet and a chance for the kids to have fun.
That ship has sailed long ago. Can't put pandora back in the box

Div III schools are barely making enough money off ticket sales to keep the lights on full time in the weight room. I think its apples and oranges

I say let em get paid, it will vet itself out in the end. I mean what are we trying to preserve, the student athlete? That's been gone for decades now. The schools and NCAA are making billions off the backs of kids risking their potential future on the field. No reason that cant fight for a piece of the pie. And no I don't believe they are owed anything per se but they have the right to try to get what they can. I'm generally not a fan of unions, but here there seems to be a serious disparity between who's bringing in the money(players) and who's cashing the checks(NCAA and Univ). I believe the players should get a scaled stipend according to minutes played or something like that. Then put a cap on the amount any one athlete can get in a year. Also restrict it to amount of revenue the players sport generates. Its not that complicated. All that said I believe we are a long way away from truly paying college athletes anything significant
The good news is that if you get another job you may not have to work outside right?
That would be one upside. Working outside is great about 4 months a year, spring and fall. Otherwise it's usually unpleasant somehow. I'd settle for a partial outdoor job where I could schedule around the bad stuff, but beggars and choosers and all that ;)
So you really hate the cold then? I can understand that. But snow doesn't make it colder. My thoughts are that if I have to suffer out in the cold, it could at least snow.
No you're wrong, snow makes it infinitely worse. Snow is not just something you look at. It makes you wet, it makes the 60% slope you're walking on impossible. And like today with 25mph winds in blisters your face like needles. I stand firm the I hate snow in its entirety. Unfortunately the only way to completely avoid it is to move to the 7th level of hell.

I hate snow and will continue to bitch until it stops. And yes it's snowing right now. Montana can laugh their frozen asses right off for all I care. ;)

Adjustable gas block
Lumber_Jack replied to orientalexpress's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Currently running the seekins precision adjustable gas block on my 300 blk like it so far cheaper @ 57.00 + shipping and its well built.Sent from my Nexus 7
I had this one until the brass screw theta holds the adjustment screw in place stripped out. I sent the block back to Seekins and I recieved a shipping notice this week so I assume it's on it's return trip. I'm not really sure why the screw seized up and stripped though. Otherwise the block was great -
I don't go to my barber and ask for a steak and I don't go to the butcher and ask for a hair cut. In the same sense I don't feel comfortable going to a "rifle works" for a legal document. Sure they probably have a lawyer draft them but I doubt you get any kind of personalized service from it. There are several ways to set up the trust, settlers, co-settlers, trustees, and beneficiaries. Things that could be beneficial or cumbersome later on. Personally I would call Chip Cain and pay extra.

HYM Freefloat Handrail Jam Nut?
Lumber_Jack replied to lshel's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
The voice of experience?
This was removing the nut that had been on for a few years using a flat screwdriver. Good news is you can buy a new jam nut for about $12 if you bigger it up -
HYM Freefloat Handrail Jam Nut?
Lumber_Jack replied to lshel's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I used a castle nut wrench. Just hook the front nipple on the jam nut. Hold in place with one hand and turn with the other. I believe YHM will recommend som blue loctite in the jam nut as well. You can use a flat head screwdriver and light tap with a hammer too. Just don't hammer too hard or you'll dent the jam nut -
CCI Blazer Brick - $36 Delivered

I don't understand all this bitching. Cabals took the option down regardless of people's opinion on the matter. They knew what was going on long before this thread started. They chose to stop it. It's like 6th grade girls in here sometimes. -

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.
Well my degree is in Forest Resource Management, but I'm gonna be open to any job that pays. I have been with a consulting firm the last 10 years. -
So it's official. We found out today that my wife is going to do her residence at Vanderbilt University Med Center. We're sad to leave East Tennessee but very excited about the future. I'm going to be asking for living suggestions and job openings as we prepare for the move but I'll start new threads for that. Just wanted to share the good news. Sent from my iPad using Voodoo magic

Recommend .22lr Scope for ~$200
Lumber_Jack replied to GlockSpock's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
That's a deal regardless of the 5 bucks you could have saved. Great find, I would have jumped at Midway too just to guarantee you didn't miss out. -
Miracles do happen. I tried to solve it before hitting play when I saw it yesterday. My first guess was "New Fish Poles" I know that makes no sense as far as solving the puzzle, but it shows my line of thinking isn't close to this guys.

I as others have stated don't carry a 30 but I carry a G29 daily. Its dimensionally equal. I carry it in a Raven Concealment holster mostly although I do have a leather DM Bullard that I like. I just find the Raven holster is light and comfortable and if you sweat it doesn't soak in, fits close to the body, adjustable ride height. Its fatter than the 9mm versions but I have long fingers so it doesn't really seem to bother me. I recently bough a G21 and although I don't carry it I find that its supper sweat shooter. So I cant imagine I wouldn't like the G30, just gotta have the pinky extension on the mags.

Recommend .22lr Scope for ~$200
Lumber_Jack replied to GlockSpock's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Yeah I bought it. Don't even have a mount for it or any .22lr that I'd want to shoot. PS, I used the price match request on SWFA.com. If they approve it, the price will be roughly $105, even better! I bought it from MidwayUSA though so that I wouldn't miss out by accident.
David is supposed to have some .22 at the next Knoxville gun show. It's not Walmart cheap but it's affordable and you can trust he isn't jacking the price up. If that's not doable PM me and I'll get ya a brick -

I'm glad he got hired somewhere else so we can stop hearing about how UT should hire him back. The reason Bruce isn't at UT is Bruce. I believe in second chances but I never thought for one second hiring him back here was a good idea. Plus jimmy cheek was never going to do that anyways. Cuonzo isn't charismatic but damn our team can play D. Plus I hated all the talk about BP while we have a sitting coach. If you want Cuonzo fired fine, but to think a university will fire a coach before the season is over is ludicrous. And to think they would fire a coach now, after getting to the Dance is even more ludicrous but "fans" are still saying crap like that Rant off
hardknox, I am not frustrated with you, I get frustrated with pilots without airline experience writing as if they know what they are talking about. There isn't anybody that has ever flown an airliner trained to go to high altitude to put out a fire. An airplane is made of aluminum. Fire and aluminum don't mix well. I have always been trained IF you ever encounter fire in the aircraft you get the mo fo ON THE GROUND, even a road if you have to. If the Wing Separation light comes on you no longer have a flying machine.. (There really isn't a Wing Separation light) The author is not a commercial airline pilot. Also, that pilot says things like, "I instinctively knew". No he doesn't, I sure don't and I sit in an airliner for 800 hours a year, every year for the past 26. I hate when internet experts that write as if they were sitting there...
Thanks for your insight here TerryW. It certainly seemed plausible to me on the surface.
