Who has opinions on OTF auto knives?
Lumber_Jack replied to Jon_L's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Retracting it does kinda drive the glass breaker into your palm .... I wonder if it could be changed out to something a bit more comfortable.
I believe there are some alternative options. They make one with a roller ball that isn't sharp but still breaks glass. Might have to google-foo that though -
I've got conflicts on a couple of dates. Oct 19 or 26 Sunday could work? Or sat/Sunday Nov 8? Just options, if I miss it, it's fine. Do what's best for most.
My MT extends with out any problem but is difficult to retract. I'm sure this will improve with use.
Both actions will improve. Mine has loss end some over time. It was damn near impossible to deploy one handed. Now it works great unless my hands are cold or wet, and like you it's retracting that's hard. -
Spent a lot of time in that area but never lived there

Never buy a Stihl Chainsaw
Lumber_Jack replied to Jamie Jackson's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I 2nd this^ I've got a 55 Rancher that I use around home and you almost need compressed air to get all the crap out. That is unless you have an hour to pick it all out of every nook and cranny. I really like this saw but it's not the same breed as the stihl saws I used to have.
Yes. Only reason I would choose to not buy a husky is the way it comes apart. I was on a chainsaw squad with the Forest Service in Colorado and got nice and cosy with a Stihl 460. Got a job in TN and out "shop saw" was a Husky, and I hated cleaning that thing. I really hate how the cover plate and dogs aren't one piece like they are on Stihl -

I have several Core 15 parts including a BCG. I'd say it's a "one slipped by" scenario
I can't say for sure that they are all this way but the ones that I know of were open today and then shut down all week then open back up for hunting Saturday and Sunday. Most of the TWRA leased fields that I looked at had parts of it chopped for silage and then wheat top sewn on it. I don't know how the weather was Saturday and Sunday everywhere else but it rained so hard around here that it drove every bit of the wheat into the ground. I didn't get out there and dig around but if they hadn't told us that they had broadcast wheat over it, I wouldn't have known. I didn't see a single grain of it out there.
Most of the WMA fields are "same as state season". A lot of leased fields are Sept 1,6,7 http://www.tn.gov/twra/dovefields2.html#

I would love to have gone today, but was traveling home. Guess I'm gonna try to hit a TWRA field some day this week. Anyone with a good tip on wich one to try in the middle tn area, I'm all ears
You had to go and say that. :) I had myself talked out of OTF knives.
Dude I love my ultratech, it's light, slim, and fast, and sturdy. Couldn't ask for much more -
You didn't see Smith's post regarding the Marshals? They were only there because concern for the guy having automatic weapons (legally). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I got that, but my point remains. The theme is repeated here that there "probably isn't much to it because the girl was returned" and that seems pretty silly to issue another warrant for "nothing"

9-year-old girl accidentally kills instructor with Uzi
Lumber_Jack replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
You know an 8 year old boy was killed several years ago shooting the same gun in Massachusetts at a machine gun shoot. But instead of it climbing up towards and instructor, the stock slid down towards the ground and the gun came straight back and shot him in the head -
9-year-old girl accidentally kills instructor with Uzi
Lumber_Jack replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
It was a mini Uzi at that. Way too much gun to handle. And the instructor was in a horrible position. He know the gun will climb, he shouldn't have been standing there. Video in link. http://www.myfoxdfw.com/story/26368466/girl-accidentally-shoots-instructor-in-arizona -

Relatives say man shot, killed by police was not armed
Lumber_Jack replied to greenego's topic in General Chat
Not being armed, does not preclude you from being shot by police. Now I haven't read the story or know the facts of the situation. I just hate the "he wasn't armed" defense. Because that's not necessary to justify a shooting -
Good point on the firing and prosecution. Kind of like free speech, you can still lose your job. It's typical of retail to search your person when leaving to check for stolen property. Used to do that when I worked at Dicks in college. But I'd sure make them call the police and show probable cause to search my vehicle

HK VP9 - might have to give this striker fired thing another try
Mag extension is a Taylor Freelance +5. It's the p30 model (same mag). No problem so far, but only run one mag dump with it at this point. The threaded barrels are through hkparts.net. They are aftermarket, which is fine with me because I don't want a poly barrel for my suppressor. I'd rather shoot lead bullets.
Have you run it with the suppressor yet? Just wondered. I've heard a few malfunctions with the aftermarket threaded barrel. But could be isolated. What suppressor is that? -
