  1. Or I end up with all my mags on the ground still holding 1 round each ;)
  2. Ellie May and Daisy on the footstool Daisy
  3. So with a 2 stroke. How do you keep from crushing the header that runs right under the frame? Ride a 4 stroke if going over obstacles?
  4. Welcome. Are you a Doctor or is that a nickname of some sort.
  5. It's called entertainment. People will always be drawn more to entertainment than politics. ESPN or CSPAN? No brainier.
  6. I have good bicycle skills both mountain and road. I feel confident I can learn to ride in reasonable time
  7. I, as a forester, do have several places I can ride. What do you all see as best tips for learning to ride? Anything to be aware of. I have ridden 4wheeelers extensively, but this is a new ball game.
  8. I didn't realize the entire National Forest was off limits to non DOT approved ATVs. That's such a waste. So much of that land goes virtually unused. Rant over
  9. I can appreciate that. But the incidence of being hit by a tractor trailer is minimal. My wife is a Doctor, she's spent too many stints in the ER. I don't conclude that motorcycles are more likely to be involved in an accident but the likelihood of injury is much higher, that's just physics....and she's the boss.

    9mm AR?

Kind of like waiting for the Titanic to come in
  11. Yes, I haven't even broached the topic with my wife. She is very anti-motorcycle but that's due to the risk of collision with vehicles. I don't see much difference when ridden responsible off-road as an ATV. I really have no desire to ride on the street, plus she'd divorce me over that one
  12. What kind of maintenance do these things require? I am mechanical so it's not an issue just wondering what type of home maintenance and shop work is needed and how often
  13. Yeah, usually I'm trying to save energy as I'm heading into remote woods to cruise timber. And generally speaking in the mtns, most road access is in the creeks and bottoms so usually travel is uphill, so in that case I'd be better hiking.
  14. Man this turned into a great topic. Thanks for all the tips. I definitely can't afford a brand new bike right now. And may not buy anything for a while, I just like exploring the options. My backpack would be lite nothing heavy, just water, lunch and maybe a rain jacket. And if carrying the bag the trail would be an easy one, just using the bike to save walking....so that I can walk more after getting to the work area :) I also agree that 250, 300 is probably plenty of bike for me.
  15. Well that's good to know. I'm not afraid of throttle, I can learn to manage it. There are a crap ton more 2 strokes available used. There are a couple well maintained YZ250s for sale. I really like those.
  16. Ahh, yeah I got ya on that. I was reading about the switch to 4 stroke for most racing. I'm not really financially ready to buy a new one, but I'll definitely be looking for a 4stroke. Thanks for the advice
  17. Thanks for the 4stroke vs 2stroke. I wasn't sure how the difference conveyed. The issue I'm seeing is if buying used, most are 2 stroke. Would a 2 stroke 450 be better or just look for a 4stroke?
  18. Where? I have had hundreds of loads of Rock hauled and never paid over $500 delivered. Even for just one single load, and that's spread.
  19. So, I'm not interested in motor cross or jumping tall buildings in a single bound. I am more interested in trail riding and getting from point A to Point B. I am looking for an alternative to a 4 wheeler. Which has limitations and unless your hauling stuff is big and heavy. My thought is I can get a hitch hauler and avoid having to pull a trailer. Plus they just look fun. Now, will I wish I had a 4wheeler at some point, probably, but I can live with that. I can count a number of times just in the last six months where a dirt bike could have been a huge help at work and go places (narrow) that a 4wheeler wouldn't have gone. So the question, does anyone use one for trail riding? Is riding with a medium gear backpack hindering? Use a hitch hauler? Want to give me one? Oh and I have no riding experience, but I can handle it, so no worries there.

    9mm AR?

    Read this. It's a good breakdown of building a 9mm AR http://www.pariaharms.com/AR9.php
  21. Last load if crushed run I bought was $450 delivered. Now that fuel is down I'd hope do beat that price. Do you need it in Athens?
  22. Same here. I love Stock and Barrel, and either have Bourbon or Beer so I've never looked for a sign (although I've been known to be illiterate no matter what) Anyone looking for something really great, go to Knox Mason on North Gay St. It's truly exceptional food.
  23. Have you done like Red Dirt. Restarted the device first. Second, Delete and re-download?
  24. Good points. I think my in-laws planted theirs too close together and too close to their fence. They have neglected pruning and I can see in a few years they'll be bare underneath and not provide the hedge they wanted. It they'll still have privacy but it will look unsightly. For the record I'm a forester and not a horticulturists I defer to your expertise.
