Lived there on and off for 4 years while my wife was in school. I never knew about the airgun ban until I day I went to Walmart to browse some models. I was floored. I love the TriCities though, such a beautiful place. Never seemed to "liberal" just living there. I avoided local politics as much as possible

Yet another law enforcement question for those of you in the know
Lumber_Jack replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
We caught guys steeling timber in Bell County Ky, had pictures, license plate, everything. The county Sherifs reply, "it's just a couple trees". Sometimes they just don't care, they should, but don't -
Got this Willet Straight Rye Small Batch last week at a silent auction. It's bottled at barrel strength 108 so it's definitely a little hot. It's got a pretty sweat taste on the front with some oaky char on the back. It got better as it diluted a little. I think it'll be great in an old fashion or Manhattan

Get it, that's going in my .300BLK soon. At that price there is no way you'd be disappointed.

I like REI a lot. They have good "store brand" stuff. Most of they're items are name brand and price set by manufacturer so it's going to be priced accordingly. They do have a great membership program where you can return items even after use if you are dissatisfied. The Knoxville store is somewhat smaller than the one near me in Brentwood, but it's a great option for hiking, camping, and outdoor gear

Im never really shocked at how shit-ty people really are, spend 5 mins in public, it's rampant.

I would just buy the Geissele SD3G and be done. It's $250 or so but I can't imagine getting a better option.

Coyote Rifleworks trust- Too good to be true?
Lumber_Jack replied to KKing's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
No, lots of speculation that 41p was going to require LEO signature and fingerprint, but the more time that goes by the less likely I feel it would be enacted. They've actually set a timetable to put Form 4s back on the efile system. I can't imagine that fingerprints are part of the system. -
Morgan County allow guns inside courthouse
Lumber_Jack replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Yep, he moved the metal detectors from the entrance to the courtroom only. Also unlocked all the doors that were previously locked to funnel people through the metal detector. -
Oklahoma Run N Gun 10K Centerfire Biathlon, 1/17/15

Is there a reason you ran a .308 vs a 556? Seems you could carry more ammo and less weight. -
Shopper tackles man with gun at Wal-Mart
Lumber_Jack replied to Ugly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I just think if you were the one on the receiving end of the" dog pile disarmament" you would have a less nonchalant attitude about the events. Maybe not, I know I would for sure. The helpless feeling of being pinned down by three people is hard for me to deal with. -
Metro Nashville Public Schools is eliminating Algebra and Geometry.
Lumber_Jack replied to JohnC's topic in General Chat
I went from Algebra, Geometry, Algerbra II & Triganometry, Pre-cal, and Calculus. I'm no genius, and I don't remember being intimidated by the names or having a lack of fluidity. Sometimes I wonder of they're fixing a problem that doesn't exist, or worse a problem they created. -
Shopper tackles man with gun at Wal-Mart
Lumber_Jack replied to Ugly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I can't help it, that video really gets me worked up. No one on the general vicinity offered to help the guy on the ground. If I saw a guy tackled and held down screaming he had a permit and a group was I holstering his gun, I'm not sure I could muster the serenity not to intervene. Too many people are more than happy to stand by and watch the civil liberties of others trampled by someone who thinks they're the enforcer of "correctness". -
Shopper tackles man with gun at Wal-Mart
Lumber_Jack replied to Ugly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
What if he was an off duty cop? This guy clearly lacks the ability to have a rational thought. I've often thought there is a chance of having the "man with gun" called in to police. But that's not hard to deal with. This brings it to another level. -
I'd say that's optimistic at best. I'd be really surprised if they get 3s and 4s up this year.

New Twist in the SIG Brace Debate
Lumber_Jack replied to btq96r's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
So aside from an ATF agent seeing you shooting the weapon, how can it be proven that you used the brace improperly? -
New Twist in the SIG Brace Debate
Lumber_Jack replied to btq96r's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Man, there is a fire sale of braces on ARFCOM. -
Great gun man. Look into some VZ grips. They aren't wood but they are really a great addition to any 1911.

Anyone know anything about North Georgia North of Atlanta?
Lumber_Jack replied to Ladyhay's topic in General Chat
I have a couple friends that lived in Buford. She was an Assistand DA in the county there and didn't have to travel into town for work. He on the other hand had to go inside the 285 for work and ended up working 6-3 to avoid the awful traffic. The area is nice and growing. Gainesville is pretty much a suburb now of Atlanta. If it makes since for your family I would consider it, if I wasn't required to drive into downtown Atlanta on a daily basis -
I owned a SBE II and it was truly an awesome shotgun. I shot 3 1/2" shells like they were low brass target loads. But as for a comparison I've always wondered what the true differences were between the two. If you can afford the Beneili I'd say do it. I lost a mag spring retainer once as it shot to infinity and beyond while I was reassembling. I sent Beneli and email and the sent me a new one, no questions, no charge.
