  1. I agree, if you a sure whitetail deer is your only game for the high powered rifle I would consider.270 in a decent bolt action, Rem 700 or similar. If you think you might hunt elk someday I would go with 30-06. I know lots of people who hunt with 7mm mag, .300win mag, and these do fine but can make a mess especially on the exit hole, if your not shooting 200yds. Others will disagree but I hunt with a savage 99e lever actions. It shoots .300savage which is pretty similar to a .270 but less powder and of course bigger bullet.
  2. ohhh, Thats gonna leave a mark
  3. if its a true SA Loaded for over a grand they are asking TOO much!. Now there is a loaded TRP that sells for $1300 and that comes with checkered front strap, beveled extended mag well and some other extras, just making sure we're comparing apples to apples. your best bet may be online, sorry Im in knoxville so I cant help much with local stores
  4. I think the point is that nobody opened fire or even pointed the gun at anyone. The OP was simply ready. So if someone simply lost control and drove through the yard he can't know that. Nobody has ever been killed from drawing a gun, only buy pulling the trigger
  5. He stated that the gun was never aimed at anyone. I agree that a low ready is, just that, low and ready, and completely acceptable. Its best not to wait until its too late to draw your weapon.
  6. well I ordered a holster today. A "bodyguard" from DM Bullard. I am looking forward to it, it will be my first OWB carry holster. I decided to go OWB first and try IWB once warmer weather gets here. I really liked the cant and 4-5oclock positioning. anybody have this holster or one similar?
  7. Ariat men's triple stitched western leather belt This is a belt that I love, its triple stitched, great belt!!
  8. Kimber Crimson does come in 5" and they are all the same price, they can be had for $1050-1100, You can get an SA Loaded for $850 all day long, sometimes cheaper. I saw a 5" SA Loaded at a gun show in Jan marked down to 779$. A good rule of thumb is to check like Budsguns or Impact guns and then add about $100 and thats a reasonable in-store price. Online prices are cheaper but once you add $35 shipping and $25-50 FFL transfer your better off to just buy a gun you can see (unless its REALLY cheaper)
  9. good to know, Ive passed out twice already
  10. Yes...still funny. The Bank will survive. The IRS might send him to jail but thats a seperate issue.
  11. Dang, you got some big pockets. Not that I think any of it is unnecessary I just dont like carrying "only" my keys in my front pocket sometimes. Im a puss though
  12. The funny thing is he still owes 160k to the Bank, and has nothing to sell to get it.
  13. Ive got a 99E 300 Savage, I love that gun, dont see alot of people with those guns. Great stuff there
  14. I agree but I treat Alaska as the exception not the rule. Your not going to run into 4 legged or 2 legged offender that cant be handled by a .45, or revolver in a good magnum round. I have fished in Alsaka and did carry a 454 Casull, but I've only been lucky enough to go there 1 time.
  15. if you decide to give away that stainless Wesson bobtail, just look me up, I willing to take it off your hands great looking collection
  16. Walmart in Crossville and Knoxville both had over 12 boxes of WWB .45 ACP. Plus lots of others, its makin its way back to store shelves
  17. where did you take your class, in knoxville?
  18. well technically an M4 is Fully automatic, and those were manufactured after 1986 so No you cant own an M4 BUT you can own an AR-15 with a 10.5 barrel. the only transferrable fully auto guns by law have to have been manufactured and registered before 1986
  19. Brad I use a form similar to this I sold gun (model) with Seriel #_________ to (buyers name) with TN DL#____________ on (date) and then both of you sign it. Then keep it, the law states that you have to sell to a TN resident. So I keep it for those purposes and I dont trust that "no one in the government knows" about my guns:tinfoil: Yep got my tinfoil hat on! All it would take is a government confiscation of sales records, and if they are takin our guns, anything is possible
  20. Ruger Blackhawk 41 magnum with 6 1/2" Barrel. I did add Hogue Grips, but balance is excellent. Now if I could just afford to shoot it:D
  21. I use Hoppes #9 cleaning, and oil. I use Mil-Comm TW25B Grease on my 1911 slide and barrel lugs. Just a side note, my father used Rem Oil and nothing else for all of his 65yrs!
  22. Guy claims he dropped his carry gun in bathroom( Kahr PM9), disharged and shattered toilet cutting him with the toilet shrapnel. Debate is over...dropping the gun or playing with the gun
  23. Sounds like she needs a Commander size 1911 in satinless steel. big caliber and can come pretty, plus a thumb safety. They can be tough for smaller people to conceal ( I dont know if she is small Im just sayin) but I say if you can carry a .45 why carry a 9mm but thats just me, others would disagree. But price may be a problem, be patient and she'll find the right one.
  24. I agree with IzzyIssac I wouldnt hesitate to buy a Kimber but I would stay with at least a 4". If you have prob Kimber will make it right. Any weapon you buy thats not from a custom shop has a chance of problems. It just the nature of mass production of ANYTHING. I have a 4" Kimber Eclipse Pro and it runs fine. If $1300 is in your price range buy this one from the classified thread http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/firearms-classifieds/35323-custom-1911-fs-ft.html It'll be better than anything off the shelf
