Rental is $15 and you can change guns as many times as you like!
-
I think the sig is around 8lbs for the DA pull and 6ish for the single, but I'm not 100% on that single may be less. I see your in morristown but I know Coal Creek Armory has Several Sig's and two HK USPs one in 40 and compact in 45, for rent.

My best suggestion is rent guns and try them out. I've always thought I would like a Sig but had never fired one. I carry a Kimber Eclipse Pro. Yesterday I got a chance to shoot my buddy's Sig 229 9mm. I was floored with how heavy the first trigger pull was, I couldn't hit the paper with the first pull. So having tried this one out I feel I'm going to wait awhile before considering a DA as I would need considerable practice before I could carry it. Not that it's a bad weapon by any means it's just the idea and lure were way more appealing than reality to me! So rent, beg, or borrow and you'll find what you want

Is your EDC also your nightstand gun?
Lumber_Jack replied to Sandman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I keep a loaded G19 in a fobus holster and spare mag in the top drawer the nightstand on my wife's side of the bed. This serves as a gun for her when I'm gone but also a "always know where it is" gun in case of home invasion or such. I carry my EDC gun even when at the house so when I go to bed I just lay it on top of my nightstand. luckily my wife has no issue with guns laying around as long as they are holstered. We also do not have small children to worry about. -
Heard this for the first time on the radio yesterday. Thought I would share with those that have never heard it before

hell, the original website the OP refered to is no longer in existance. I guess giving away firearms isnt such a good financial decision

I don't have any experience with 5.11 but check out Tru-Spec. I have a couple pairs and love them. I had a pair o at the East Tn Meet and Shoot. I wear them everywhere from city to cursing timber in the woods. They have held up amazingly well considering the briar patches I have crawled thru. Just a thought. These are the ones I have http://www.opsgear.com/index/page/product/product_id/1444/category_id/361/category_chain/9,361/product_name/24-7+Tactical+Pant+Cotton

Yeah I suppose your right, I'm just used to Coal Creek where it's $10 and you shoot till you leave.
-
yeah I only need a good ventilation system and air conditioning. If you make it so fancy no one wants to pay, then I think your buisness model might be a little off. Now if I were Law Enforcement or private security and needed to shoot a lot, then maybe. The year membership is $350!!!

I would call Colt. Sweat shouldnt cause that. It appears the coating was not done properly. I would have a duty coat or molycote put on, but Im not aware of gunsmiths in your area. Hero Gear would do it they are in Winchester.

Bubbatn, did you find any 1911's you couldnt live without?
-
WOW, if your looking for a good knife and don't buy that ZT for $89, your crazy. I'm thinking about buying it and the last thing I need is another knife.

Well I have known people in that area to build cabins and such but it just depends on how much the property has been traveled historically. If locals have made a routine of trespass then you will be fighting an uphill battle. If not a good gate and lock should be sufficient. I would not leave things such as 4 wheelers, guns, or electronics that are easy to steal without some sort of security system, and of course insurance. It would also make a difference if there were neighbors close you could trust or is the area visible from the road. These are things I would consider when building in a rural area no matter where it's located.

Is it before or after Genesis Rd crosses the Obed River? This area is generally sparsely populated but has many land owners just like yourself. However an overwhelming number of people using prescription drugs and Meth has led to a number of thefts throughout the county so I would suggest some sort of security. And remember its not 2006 anymore so land prices are Wayyyyy down. Make sure you do your research before you buy.

well I take that back, I might got try it out, but that seems high to me
-
yeah if the shooters edge website is accurate, I wont be going there. $15 for 30 min and $20 for 60min is just rediculous. $20 for 2 or 3 hrs I would go for but 30 min is barely enough time to get settled and empty a couple mags!

rust on blued barrel 870
Lumber_Jack replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Where is the best place to buy bronze or steel wool? Lowes, Ace? -
So whats the skinny on places to shoot. I live there primarily on the weekends until I can find a job. An indoor range would be nice but I will go to an outdoor if its a good one.
-
Well I stand corrected, I was going strictly from memory
-
I'm not sure coal creek has any 1911's in 45 for rent, I'm not 100% on that though (see signature). However I know for a fact Frontier has 2 Springfield loaded models for rent. I would be more than happy to let you shoot either of mine, I just wont be in knoxville this weekend but if you want to drive to Johnson City we can poke some holes in something

rust on blued barrel 870
Lumber_Jack replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
will I have to get it reblued after this? -
Ok so I have a nice old remington 870 wingmaster '72 model I believe. It has been in a case for several years, well today I got it out and found some rust on the barrel. No doubt due to poor care on my part (see signature). But Im wondering what to do to get rid of the rust and preserve value, both monitary and sentimental (12th birthday present). Thanks. oh by the way I am a horrible photographer.

I'd likr to be there but the wife is in med school in Tri Cities so l live there now on the weekends, BUT you just never can tell with a guy like me

Ruminations on my favorite "go to" handgun. What's yours?
Lumber_Jack replied to TGO David's topic in Handguns
I love my Gen 3 G19 but I would much rather shoot my kimber eclipse pro. As long as I have enough spare mags I'd go to war with it. It's not as snappy on recoil and runs flawlessly I'll keep you posted on my new Springfield TRP It has potential to be my new favorite
