  1. Yeah that's what it's about In 2000 Rich Barber and his wife had an Remington 700 discharge on the removing of the safety. The bullet killed their young son. The story is sad but there are some interesting points. This has been happening since the beginning of the design, according to the designer Mike Walker, however the problem is with the assembly not the design. And Remington suspended safety inspection allowing these rifles to go out to the public. Its interesting, but definitely seemed to be a witch hunt against Remington. But I do believe they could have done things to make people aware of possible design flaws but it's a business and that hurts the bottom line. It seems most of the piece was "Remington is guilty of negligence", but as sad as a child being killed is, if you follow gun safety rules this won't happen. I have been around guns all my life and was unaware of this problem until just recently. And it can still happen today, the dewing and assembly is the same. This was a re- air and probably will be on again. If so it's worth the watch, even if it is CNBC
  2. Just stumbled across don't know what they're slant is but will watch and report
  3. Good to know l thought we had a non vendor advertising and was waiting for you to pounce Great looking gun! I love the French cut slide ( I think that's what it's called). Congrats on the magazine pics
  4. +1, even possession can warrant harassment in that state!
  5. Thanks for the update, maybe I'll check it out next week!
  6. Welcome to the forum, I live part time in Johnson City and asked the same question check out this thread http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/general-off-topic/50098-tri-cities-gun-ranges.html Glad you could join us, jump right in and don't be afraid to converse
  7. My opinion is carry as much caliber as possible. With that said I would encourage you to try several 45's out. You will notice that the recoil is a little different going from 5" 1911 to a 3". But it will definitely be different that shooting 45 in say a sub-compact glock. Some of the 3" 1911s have reliability problems just do to the design being compacted so much, but they can be reliable just be aware they can be picky. I personally carry a Kimber 4" and love it, but to your point it may be a little more difficult for a lady to conceal than myself dependent on clothing style. Just my 2 cents
  8. I grew up in WV and we had both Grey Squirrels and Red (fox) Squirrells and interbred grey/red, and have never had one too tough to eat. I guess certain conditions could lead to that. We however cook them seperate, grey and red, and just boil until tender (however long that takes) then fry. I mean its no delicacy but I enjoy hunting them and thus I eat them.
  9. I love it. Its a white meat similar to chicken but has a different taste and darker in color. I like it rolled in flower and fried but its also really good made into Squirell and Dumplins!! Oh and boil it before you fry it otherwise you will have squirell leather chews!

    1911s

Are you thinking $2000-$3000 or more like $1000-$2000? Cause some here have mention production guns, and if that's what you're looking for I'd buy either a Springfield TRP or a Dan Wesson Valor. Otherwise I'd stick with the big names, of course you could always get a custom gun from Hero Gear they have had great reviews!
  11. Ditto We talkin Knoxville or Bristol?
  12. 3 dealers or 3 indiduals with tables at a show?

    1911s

If your buying a semi-custom 1911, just find the features you want and go with that. They are all going to be excellent no matter what you buy. Most common are Ed Brown, Les Baer, Nighthawk, and Wilson Combat. However there are others out there. I like the tacticool stuff from wilson and nighthawk, but if I had the scratch right now I would be a Ed Brown Special Forces Carry, I like the bobtail commander and it comes in stainless. But thats just me
  14. I just dont see the ATF storming in a Gun Show, hand cuffing someone and haulin them off to jail for reselling a gun immediately. I think its idle BS scare tactics. Plus if that were true why wouldnt you just trade and make double the money and sell it elswhere. if you offer me 2800 Ed Brown for my Springfield TRP but the condition is I cant sell it untill tomorrow, I think Im still gonna take the deal
  15. How far would it be from Johnson city?
  16. Locked being the key word. Sig's don't have a manual safety. With the hammer back trigger pull is approx 4.4 lbs it's 10 lbs in DA mode. The 10 lb trigger is the safety. I carry a 1911 cocked and locked, but would never carry if the thumb and grip safeties didn't work. That's just askin for an accidental discharge. Fwiw the sig in SA mode does have significant trigger travel before engaging the disconnector unlike 1911's so the comparison isn't exact
  17. If you notice, those are (I assume) secondary as there are shells mounted on the stock on the strong side as well
  18. Coal Creek Armory has one, he builds custom 1911's so I sure he could handle anything you might need. Tey are others I just not sure who or where.
  19. Rental is $15 and you can change guns as many times as you like!
  20. I think the sig is around 8lbs for the DA pull and 6ish for the single, but I'm not 100% on that single may be less. I see your in morristown but I know Coal Creek Armory has Several Sig's and two HK USPs one in 40 and compact in 45, for rent.
  21. My best suggestion is rent guns and try them out. I've always thought I would like a Sig but had never fired one. I carry a Kimber Eclipse Pro. Yesterday I got a chance to shoot my buddy's Sig 229 9mm. I was floored with how heavy the first trigger pull was, I couldn't hit the paper with the first pull. So having tried this one out I feel I'm going to wait awhile before considering a DA as I would need considerable practice before I could carry it. Not that it's a bad weapon by any means it's just the idea and lure were way more appealing than reality to me! So rent, beg, or borrow and you'll find what you want
  22. I keep a loaded G19 in a fobus holster and spare mag in the top drawer the nightstand on my wife's side of the bed. This serves as a gun for her when I'm gone but also a "always know where it is" gun in case of home invasion or such. I carry my EDC gun even when at the house so when I go to bed I just lay it on top of my nightstand. luckily my wife has no issue with guns laying around as long as they are holstered. We also do not have small children to worry about.
  23. Heard this for the first time on the radio yesterday. Thought I would share with those that have never heard it before
  24. hell, the original website the OP refered to is no longer in existance. I guess giving away firearms isnt such a good financial decision
