  1. my buddy was in love with a girl that worked their when we were in college. Turned out she had herpes:dropjaw:. Kind of lost my appetite for that place after that. Some things a gun cant protect you from:D
  2. EGW makes a great extractor but will require a little more fitting than the Ed Brown possibly. but there are no garuntees as you probably know
  3. I carry 50/50, I have a comp-tac Mtac, and a DM Bullard Bodyguard. I use the OWB anytime I'm wearing a button up or a jacket. If it's t-shirt only or dress clothes I go IWB. I did not have to buy bigger pants, I wore a 32 before and can fit IWB just fine, so if your pants are a little lose as you said, you should be fine. Especially with a leather/Kydex. BTW i carry a Kimber Eclipse Pro (4" 1911) I like the comp tac better than Supertuck because you can adjust the cant depending on your specific draw.
  4. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/show-tell/48196-my-new-edc.html I had a notion, check out this thread. They make a nice pistol, it also come in parkerized garyish black, and have 5" models as well. I would lean towards it over the Para, I believe you get a better fit and finish for less money. The ATI is made in the phillippines, that doesn't matter to me but does to some.
  5. Yes baiting is Illegal even for hogs. I believe you will have a good chance for seeing hogs, the population in that region is pretty high. It's completely overrun in counties to the north, ie Putnam, Overton/Fentress.
  6. +1 on both previous posts. Wilson 47D's work for me every time, also Tripps Reaserch are probably hareleded as the best 1911 mags, but pricey (worth it IMO). I would try different brands of ammo first. Spear, hornady XTP or FTX, as well as the forementioned golden sabers
  7. I've not been up there, you live in Kingsport? Might check tri-cities gun depot in Elizabethton, it's a little drive from Bristol or Kingsport but I have heard lots of good things. What does he have com in in, maybe we have opinions on that model too
  8. MSRP is $699, so I expect any gun shop to be well below that. Out the door, is tax and back ground included so that means the gun price is $595 + $55 tax +$10 backcheck. That seems pretty good to me, I don't know if you'll be able to find that gun much cheaper. The cheapest is buds which we have discussed. I just think you need to decide if that's the gun for you, if so I think its a good price BTW what shop are you dealing with, don't worry im not gonna snatch it out fro under you
  9. Never been there have to check it out. I think we may have derailed the thread from original intent
  10. No worries man, all things being in context I feel we all could relate. Sorry for your loss, these things are never easy.
  11. Is it really necessary to yell? Code of Conduct #3, read it sometime I don't think this is a dumb question, its no more dumb than 90% of the others asked on here. If you don't know you ask, that's the whole point of TGO. as to the OP I believe move and shoot is the beset option, but like Punisher said, it all depend on distance from you to BG. if it's 3 feet you've got to move faster and further to avoid a reaction shot from BG. if it's 15' you can move less distance, but would still be committed to as fast as possible. These are things you should practice. I like to stand if front of a full length mirror, using my reflection as the BG. Then I practice drawing and dry firing, drawing and moving to the side, and just general quick movements. These are things that can be greatly improved without actually being at the range
  12. Who only charges 20? Coal creek is $25 for guns they don't stock, $50 for ones they do. I'm not sure what Gunnies charges. Vie never bought online, just stating from signs in stores.
  13. I wouldn't say it's far from the cheapest. That insinuates that its way overpriced. $619 for the GI ESP is not over priced. But buy all means shop around. I was just posting for reference, I've got no pony in the race. South Clinton would be a ways out of the way on a trip from tri-cities to Nashville tho.
  14. ahh I was just wondering if some of the "lighten the recipe" posts were for polymer frame guns not 1911s? (see signature)
  15. To dolomite's point about cost, with 3% and $5 insurance, you are at $601.37 + $10 for background + $50 FFL transfer fee, for the beavertail model. The cheapest I've seen in Knoxville is at Frontier Firearms for $619 cash + %9.25 tax+ $10 background So Buds = $661.00 Frontier= $686.25 To me I'd rather spend 25 extra and take it home that day, others may disagree, you might also find a cheaper FFL Fee to add some savings Someone check me if I'm wrong BTW Frontier is right off the interstate at exit 356, if you want to stop on your way to Nashville, it's worth a look.
  16. You can't go wrong at that price. It's basically a standard GI model with a beavertail grip safety and loop hammer. I wouldn't worry about the trigger it's a single action and will be crisp. As far as parts its a 1911 its a standard single stack so any aftermarket mainspring housing with magwell will fit with some minor fitting possibly required. I think it has dovetail sights but not 100%. If it does you can swap for Novak or Trijicon no prob. You won't find a 1911 for that price without going the ATI route. Don't forget the FFL fee regardless if shipping is free Correction: the gun listed for 468 Has the standard grip safety. If it were me i would save an extra 100 dollars and buy the GI ESP with the beavertail grip safety, just my opinion
  17. Great looking gun for sure. I can't seem to get past the external extractor to buy one tho. Maybe one day
  18. I'm a little slow on the uptake, took me a minute to get that one, haha
  19. What gun are you shooting these in?
  20. How do you know the difference between lacquer coated and poly? By brand, or does it say on the box?
  21. Exactly! Im more of a 'Tom Hanks talkin to volleyballs' kind of guy
  22. The body and mind go through various changes when on the brink of starvation. Dementia being one, so for me to say I wouldn't eat something is hard to do. Who knows I sure would try anything to stave off starvation. Especially when we're talkin possum, buzzards etc, even human. I probably wouldn't eat myself tho, just as soon die, somethings aren't worth livin through
  23. Sorry to misquote, I read it wrong. Thanks for info on possible steel case problems
  24. Myabe not you personally, but people just like us did. People who would normally not go to walmart and buy 600 rds did, because they were scared. People bought every box they could find, and the ammo companies didnt up thier production because they new it would slow down again and didnt want to be stuck with excess supply. To your point about price going up, you might be right. But to the point that we need to "stock up" is a bit overstated. If prices do rise they will be gradual and we, thanks to your heads up, can now be on the lookout for it.
  25. DaveTN, Care to elabirate as to why this is harmful to an AR? I have a tendancy to believe those that say they have run 2-3k with no problem, ie Dolomite.
