  1. +1 for Warbirds post, but to your question Coal Creek in Knoxvillle carries the Mtac. They are the only ones l know of.
  2. For range use and hiking, I like Fobus. Its light, cheap, and durable. P90-and-P97-Fobus-Holster-Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc.
  3. I guess we're "other", although I live in knoxville temporarily, so I'll vote Knox
  4. i however, will get a Verizon iphone, I will not wait in line for hours to get it though.
  5. welcome, with all you have stated I believe you will find yourself amoung friends!!
  6. I'm goin with Sasquatch baby But prob a squirrel, when they move they pounce where their front and back feet land in the same spot
  7. Nickel Teflon to be exact
  8. Greens Military carries wilderness belts. I have no personal experience but hear they make good gun belts especially the ones with the insert
  9. That's true for online suppliers for sure, I'm not sure if local Knoxville suppliers has been addressed.
  10. Robber NP3 Plus Robar Glock Improvements It's pricey though $450 for long guns. A Teflon or Moly coating would be cheaper $200, and probably plenty effective. Just depends on how much you want to spend. If I was a rich man with endless pockets it would be NP3 Plus for sure
  11. I don't know of any local places to buy a true gun belt. But online Gun Belts by The Belt Man gets a lot of good rep. Any quality leather holster maker usually makes belts as well. I'm partial to DM Bullard, but that's just because ive dealt with him. Edit: you might try KC Leatherwerks http://www.kcleatherwerks.com/products.html, I'm not sure how much finished product they carry, or if they have double layer belts or not. Would be worth a phone call
  12. FWIW I haven't heard many people say they didn't like them (crossbreed/Mtac)
  13. CM, there is a gun show in Kingsport this weekend. You probably won't find any huge deals (although u never know), but it will be q good place to look and handle some different brands of 1911s
  14. CM, most gun stores don't carry large selections of holsters. They usually have some, maybe some galco and such. I bought my Mtac in Knoxville but most buy online. My first IWB was a Galco summer comfort it worked good but it is nowhere near as comfortable as the Mtac and not as concealable. It might be worth a phone call to some shops to see what they have in shop. Do you have a style that appeals to you somewhat?
  15. I think its new to him too (hasnt been there long), I dont know him but saw him in there working one day.
  16. what would be helpful would be to name the stores for him. Then he can reference which ones are TGO supports and visist those first!
  17. I have a good feeling that Coal Creek will survive this vicious attack on Yahoo Answers! +1 for good info from Smith
  18. I dont like the way they look, but function I have no problem with. Of course I wouldnt want them on my carry gun (too many sharp edges) and as much as you tell me they are solid, I dont want to risk them being "off" when I need them. hence the use of Combat sights I just like stating the obvious
  19. CM, if you can get one of these, I would buy it any day over the PARA. Im not sure where the price falls though. The GI would be on the lower end of your price range but has the standard GI grip safety, not the beavertail. EDIT: I see some on Gun Broker for $759, might call you LGS and see what they can get
  20. +1 You've heard enough of my gas on other threads, but never underestimate the value of a used gun! I bought my first 1911, Kimber Eclipse Pro II, used for just a little more than your talkin. Its my EDC now
  21. Exactly! And I may be in the minority here but I don't clean my stainless barrel guns every outing, more like every 1000rds. I just make sure the chamber is clean and wipe down the outside. I've shot the .45 variety and works just fine. I don't like it cause you cant reload the cases, but it shoots fine.
  22. Yes.. With a single action 1911 the trigger pull is light (4lbs) so to carry with a round in the chamber and hammer cocked it is essential to have the thumb safety engaged. The grip safety is more of a backup than a first line safety. Also in some models there is a firing pin block that prevents the firing pin from moving if the gun is dropped. This is disengaged with the grip safety. But that's not on all 1911s
  23. The difference between geek and Greek has what to do with a restaurant menu? I was in college I understand very well.
  24. What's the difference?
  25. After reading Tim's post, I don't think you need to replace you extractor as much as your firing pin stop. You said "starting to see" does that mean it was fine at first, or has done this occasionally all along? Maybe the clocking is getting worse over time. I'd try fitting a new FPS like Tim said, I did it so that means anyone can . But to your question if you do replace your extractor, then yes it's probably worth it. This one http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=23561/Product/1911_AUTO_HEAVY_DUTY_EXTRACTOR I like the round corners to reduce failure, should last forever
