  1. wow, I had no idea. My father had mentioned wanting one because of the price and good word-of-mouth, but I had reservations. Not anymore, thats a great looking target and feeds cheap ammo, what more could you ask for. Might have to look at gettin him one for fathers day
  2. I read this whole thread first, then went back and read the article. Wow, that sounds like some back door dealing if I ever saw it. they have bought new guns in 2003 and 2005, then again in 2009. Each time selling the "surplus" guns to the agents for $325. "some of which bought more than one of the same model" Duh, I would too, you could resell for profit easily at that price. I carry a Kimber Eclips Pro II every day and have never had a malfunction except when the recoil spring wore out after about 2500 rds. Replaced spring and runs flawlesly. I certainly would not that that horse manure of an article deture you from buying a Kimber. If you find evidence elswhere and decide not to, so be it, but not that crap.
  3. My Springfield TRP says Tactical on the frame......thats the only thing I dont like about it
  4. yep, gonna cost about 80-90 bucks depending on which one you take. I went to CCA, you really cant go wrong there
  5. holy that dude was looney on some many levels
  6. I'll give you the national anthem, that was awful, but she can sing if she quite trying so hard to be the center of atention. As for halftime I thought it was entertaining, sure beat the heck out of The Who. After the show they could have had the hearses lined up to take em straight to the grave. I mean I like the music better but it was not entertaining whatsoever.
  7. I was going to reply about why I do get the shot but Gkar said it better than I ever could so "ditto" on that. Great info and exactly what my physician father-in-law says every year
  8. I believe that when he stresses penetration he is addressing caliber as well. Now there is a common photo showing ballistic gel where all of the common service calibers penetrate past the 12 inches he describes. Where I believe caliber is a factor with penetration is the fact that we as humans are not made of balistic gel, but rather of bones and muscle usually covered by some types or clothing or jackets. That's why I carry a .45. Now I know lots of people who carry 9mm and I wouldn't hesitate to trust my life too it, but I prefer the .45. Lots of LE still carry 9mm and it works well. The biggest myth I think addressed is the "down with one shot". We should be prepared to shoot as many times as necessary and make sure the bullets hit the target Edit: check out this forum post for the ballistic gel photo Handgun self-defense loads - High Drag Low Speed
  9. A guy at the last Knoxville gun show was selling saiga mags for $50 each, at that rate it would be worth it just for the mags.
  10. if this is true you muct be super dense! I am a 1911 fan but I would go with the Glock. I do not like the 3" 1911s, they are too hit and miss with reliability. Most can be made reliable with different mags or extractor adjusting, but out of the box you can get la good one or not
  11. I follow the law because I dont want to pay the consequences. You can still follow the law and try to change it at the same time. However remember when we try to change laws it might not be for the better
  12. I dont believe they are classifying them as Class 3, just not allowing import under there sporting classificaitons
  13. Now thats just silly. I dont like carrying **** in my pockets let alone my life saving weapon. I believe you are in the minority on this point, among others
  14. agreed, its more of how the engery is transfered than the lack of transfer. But with that said, his points still seem valid.
  15. Randys Gun and Knives - Randy's Guns & Knives - Business details I have never shopped there but have heard of others going there. I recommend Austins in Oak Ridge, their stock is low and shop is small but they are great to deal with. What are you looking for exactly, something in stock or special order?
  16. Organic milk comes in cartons, and its a real bargain at $6 for a half gallon.
  17. Do you know why this is?
  18. That's the catch, they hope you will need more than the minimum and purchase more. Its a marketing tactic just like other free offers and such. Only this one seems to actually pay even if you don't buy more
  19. Yeah I assumed in town as well but to people from a small town like that "local" could reach out a bit. There are a couple guys at Outdoor Junction that are ok, couple are douches, but that seems to be a broken record for a lot of gun shops. We as customers think we know it all, they think we don't know ****, and the truth is somewhere in the middle.
  20. This is all you need to know in the caliber debate! great article
  21. Trav, Your a benefactor, just post it in the classifieds, your safe, it will sell.
  22. Dave's Pawn, and I dont see them being that way, but you never know. Outdoor Junction isn't too far. He didn't actually say it was in crossville
  23. Yes but your wife can buy it period. Just dont go in saying "my wife is gonna buy this becaus I legally can't." no one is legally linked to the gun as 'owner'. If your married it would be yours collectively
  24. , holy , what was the sticker price before they marked it down
