Is There Really A Feral Hog Problem?
Lumber_Jack replied to Cherokee Slim's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Yes if prepared properly and not too old. The older boars can have a very strong smell and taste. But the younger ones and sows can taste just like farm raised pigs. Of course correctly field dressing the boars is important to prevent the scent glands from ruining the meat. Others may have more info on this matter, I'm no expert -
Good for ya bro. Look into fartlicks. It's basically running at a slow pace and running faster for short distances. This can be done with walking as well. It's a good way to build up to steady running. For example Walk 2:00 min fast pace Run 0:30 sec. Moderate (repeat for desired time) Or distance Walk 3/4 mile Run 1/4 mile This will help build up that heart and lung stamina needed to run steady

Is There Really A Feral Hog Problem?
Lumber_Jack replied to Cherokee Slim's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Fentress, Overton, Morgan, Scott are all good counties. Emory river, is a public hunting area, near frozen head state park. Definitely hogs in there. It not listed as a WMA, but f you need directions let me know. We have managed the Timber on the tract for over 10 years -
No thought from anyone?

I'm destined for heart attack if slim jims are the cause
-
Umm see my avatar! I love fly fishing. Caney Fork, Clinch, South Holsten, Watauga, all smokies streams. Hard to beat east tn. From Tullahoma I would look into North Ga, it may not be any closer than smokies though. Don't hesitate to go after smallmouth with that fly rod, lots of fun!

hmm, replaced U joints, still making noise. I think its the transfer case. ....unfortunately
-
ate a Slim Jim in his honor today. Makes me wonder though if the steroids led to the heart attack, regardless its sad for sure
-
highly likely, but I dont chirp like that

ok, got a 2005 z71 5.3 l. There is a noise coming from underneath the console. Sounds like a chirping/sweeping noise that seems in synce with the turning of the wheels. It gets louder in 4hi, and louder yet in 4lo. My first inclination was U joints on front drive shaft. took it to auto repair in Oak Ridge, said U joints were fine, I said to replace them anyhow (170,000 mi) He said that was definitely not my problem. Frustrated I asked him why he though that, he said they look fine. My thoughts and questions 1) in 05 does the front drive shaft still turn when in 2wd? it is an early 2005 model. I believe that it does, from the transfer case friction, not the front differential 2) if the shaft does not turn, do the gears in transfer case still turn? could the noise be a bearing the transfer case 3) what else could it be? the mechanice was going to replace the front wheel bearings, rear diff fluid, all this stuff and I know the noise is not coming from either end, but directly under the seats any info or thoughts would be appreciated

Get your head out of your I-Berry! There is a REAL world out there!
Lumber_Jack replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
If my FIL said that to me we'd fight for sure. I have seen just as many 50 something businessmen and women in fine eating establishments using their crackberries and iPads. This is far from an age issue with "young ins" It's 2011, it may be rude to your immediate table members to be on your device, but its certainly not common ettiqquit to not use your device in a fine eatery. -
I would pay good money for someone to post an "exposed penises will be prosecuted" sign but that was about to be my point. They post because they dont want anyone with guns, including us. its already illegal for everyone without a permit

my friend used to carry his glock sub-compact in one while wearing a t-shirt. h was a very lean 6' 225lbs. he was local DEA then. didnt do it often but did come in handy from time to time. sure its no quick draw, but I can see its applications.. I dont see how lifting your shirt and drawing is any different than other IWB or concealed type holsters
-
I believe this is exactly what the OP was implying. I think that would be a good idea. Appease the sheeple and still allow HCP carry. Before the gun buster was approved, I would say 'no' that it might open too many doors, but now I dont see what it could hurt

Blackhawk Shoulder Holster System
Lumber_Jack replied to Randy W's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I agree, why not, if you want it and have the scratch to pay for it. Let us know what you think when you get it. I have w cqc for my 1911 but it's just the standard hip holster. I like the SERPA feature a lot. -
Yeah it will have Clackamas, OR. , or Yonkers, NY. The Oregon stamp is believed to be of higher quality, but I don't know how much truth there is in that. But they definitely sell for more regardless

Guess who bought the PLR-16 used in the Hendersonville incident?
Lumber_Jack replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
for those of us outside the Nashville metro, whats the "carry with cocain, had to sell" story. Im familiar with Leonard -
the fact that it was a very first shot is suspicious to me. So lets get it straight, it wasnt the ammo, and there was no barrel obstruction.......so did daffy duck jump up and stick his finger in the barrel? of course im making light of a situation where the owner wouldnt own up to an ammo issue even if that is the most likely reason. Especially in front of other men at the range. No way the ego would let him admit it could be HIS fault
-
dont know the situation, but I would guess a barrel obstruction has something to do with this. Even mud, dirt, anything to allow pressure buildup could do it.

I am interested to hear about the recoil spring. Mainly because Khar offered that as the first corrective action. Maybe they have knowlege of this problem already. Seems to me you have done the standard checks, mags, ammo, now springs. if that doesnt work, i'd be shippin it to Khar

before we get delete happy here maybe we can hash this out a little without it being a true "what it worth" thread. This is not against the rules unless you are trying to sell it without paying to be a benefactor member. Now as for the pistol. These are hard to come by, but not a collectors item or anything. A series I, means that it does not have the Swartz firing pin safety mechanism. But whats more rare is that its a Series I and compact. The only comp I could find was one that sold on Gunbroker in March for $705 Kimber Compact Custom 45 Parkerized SERIES 1! : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com. So I would try to stay on the upper end of your price window mentioned, maybe even a little higher. But if it were me, I'd just keep it, great gun. Is it Parkerized or Stainless?
