+1 I'm exactly the same way. S&W, Sig both make fine 1911s, I just can't bring myself to buy one with an external extractor. To me it's been proven that an internal can be perfectly reliable, so why no go with the original design? To the OP, I've heard they are fine weapons and wouldn't hesitate to buy one based on function.

I'd love to try it out if you have any invites left pm sent

Broken firing pin? I have seen them break and the two pieces will no longer make contact with the primer or will only occasionally. Just a thought

Yeah I have to agree with worriedman. Mexico is not Gina show any US resident any more leniency I we stayed that creeps execution. Apparently GW Bush said while he was in office that we should not execute this man for he same reasons. Personally I'm glad he is dead. Piss Mexico, if they don't like it, don't come rape 16 year old girls. Btw he admitted guilt in this case, the debate was that the consulate could have prevented him getting the death penalty.

Haslam willing to take lead on Internet sales tax
Lumber_Jack replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I would agree with an Internet sales tax. The state is hurting financially and this would go a long way to helping. I would much rather have a consumption tax than a property or income based tax. -
Last time I checked, it's the law of whatever state the park resides within. I've been wrong before tho

8rnd mags not working in 1911?
Lumber_Jack replied to Backon4's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Every 1911 to Mag relationship is different. Sometimes certain mags just won't feed reliably in any certain 1911. Thats just the way it is, 7, 8, 10 rnd all can cause issues. I dont think your problem is 8rds, as much as it is the mag to gun relationship. Some 7rd Kimber mags dont feed right from the factory. -
Well Mike I'm glad you got a day off, but I sure would have like that bottle of Rum Next time I will know

Check out this thread for some ongoing discussion on the topic http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handguns/55962-sig-357-a.html I think overpentration is a consideration, but only marginally so. especially considering the assailant is wearing clothes or even a jacket. Another good read The Myth of Energy Transfer

Kimber Eclipse Pro II, same as every other day

Well as an old friend of mine from the Marines uses to say "prior planning prevents piss poor performance". I went to buy some holiday beverages today since the liquor stores were closed on Sunday, only to find out state law prevents the sale of liquor on the 4th of July. Needless to say I was a little POd. I am not a big liquid drinker but my wife wanted some poolside drinks to enjoy. I realize now this is not a new law but from the traffic I passed in the liquor store parking lot, I'm not the only one clueless Nothing less patriotic than banning capitalism and booze on the same day! Plus how many DUIs were prevented by this law…I'd venture to say, none

Springfield TRP! Love that gun. But you could tempt me to trade it with the proper offer. My 3rd Gen G19 I wouldn't give up, too much goodness there, plus it was my first hangun I purchased once I joined the "real world" after college
-
Oh I bet it will. It's not like a custom engraved commemorative gun. It's just a custom with a Damascus slide. I bet it's only marginally more than other Fusions due to slide treatment. Fusions are built to shoot, just like Brown, Wilson, etc

I really like the mobile skin. Tapatalk works ok, but can only load about 60 threads at a time and sometimes struggles to refresh for new posts. I have had several instances this week where TGO time out and wouldn't load. Also had quick reply hang ups the OhShoot posted about. If the new software gets rig of that buggy stuff, I say go for it, we'll adjust

for that price you can get about anything you want. Even a Kahr p380 if you find the right deal. I have seen sigp238's for $475 at certain times. Here's what Im looking into for the same reasons as you Kahr p380 ($575) Kahr cw9 9mm ($460) Ruger LCP 380 ($300) Diamondback DB9 9mm ($360) Sig p238 ($490) Prices are all ballpark, that I have seen at various stores in Knoxville/Johnson City

Finally found what I was looking for.... and the winner is...
Lumber_Jack replied to a topic in Handguns
ahh you wont be disappointed, I bought a TRP this past Feburary and wouldnt trade it for anything right now. Trophy Match is a good gun. Hopefully you came under your budget on the "good deal" and can blow that money on ammo now! -
oh yeah I have a Savage 99E carbine in .300 savage. Best deer gun I have ever had!

Nahhh it's not that bad, just don't try to go at 5:00, I know I drive it every day. Logistically I don't know where else they could build it without being way out. As far as when they will open, it's hard to say, they are currently grading the lot. So they have a ways to go yet

Location won't be bad, you can get off the interstate at cedar bluff and avoid all but 1/4mi of Kingston Pike. Could be worse, at least it's not in Turkey Creek
-
good info there, I'll have to check up on that. Is there a distinction between followers that would be noticable in the store? to avoid this issue prior to purchase

8rnd mags not working in 1911?
Lumber_Jack replied to Backon4's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I carry 8's in all my 1911's never had an issue, but I only carry Wilson 47ds. YMMV -
Well don't get me wrong I carry concealed 98% of the time. I agree on those points. But I don't feel like someone 'printing' in public deems him an unsafe or impractical gun carrier. And I certainly don't agree with the thought of areas you don't need to carry. But if 808 feels differently that's fine. Most people in here feel very strongly about why and how they carry. 808 just learned that first hand
-
The fact of the matter is he doesn't have to conceal his weapon if he choses not too. And if I recall he said that it was under his shirt. Often times thats all that conceals my 4" 1911. if I bend down you will see the whole holster, maybe even the gun itself. but again thats my choice. You, as a gun owner, are more aware of others around you carrying. Id bet a dime to a doughnut 90% of the people he encountered that day, had no idea he was carrying
-
Btw that's a joke ^^^^^. If those are your true convictions then stand by them. I however believe differently

I respect your opinion as well, it's just wrong
