  1. Ok texting while driving is dangerous. But how is talking in the phone more distracting than talking to a passenger? Just for the record the NTSB can lick my nuts!
  2. The Chupacabra of guns
  3. Target shooting is prohibited on all Tennessee WMAs outside of designated ranges. It's prohibited on Cherokee national forestland as well. Although someone near to me has been known to target shoot on the Cherokee from time to time Now private land is as others have said above
  4. Just FYI, Acadamy Sports has Taurus TCP -279.99, Ruger LCP -299.99
  5. The difference in trigger pull is not much and might not be noticeable. For $30, I'd go with the Ruger, although Taurus makes good guns, they do have a reputation of having issues. Otherwise I've shot both and both performed very similarly. You won't be disappointed either way.
  6. Case, leather handle drop point. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001E8E42C/ref=mp_s_a_2?qid=1323825337&sr=8-2
  7. You mentioned quality & value, of which the latter can be really subjective. Quality: I'd say you can't go wrong with any manufacturer that offers good customer service. Because lets face it any gun manufactured in high volume can have issues. So that said, ruger, S&W, Sig, Khar, are all great. Value: This is a whole other can of worms. To me this means best gun for the money. I'd say Sig P380, it's in the $500-600 range but you get a really great shooting sturdy gun that's not abusive to shoot. Now if you're only considering price vs problems. I'd say you can't go wrong with your original choice of Ruger. But if money is not an issue I'd check out the Sig, or Khar if you want a lighter 380
  8. I think y'all may need a lesson in filing a saw chain (no offense intended). 10-15min max should be all it takes to get it cutting 2"long ribbons of wood. I learned while a sawyer in the Forest Service, it does take some practice but is quite efficient. Although $5 a chain is pretty dang cheap
  9. even though I have had some good success on Public Land, WD just about summed up the whole experience!
  10. I don't know if there is a thread already....and frankly don't care . Let's see your off-road vehicles both past and present. Post pics and specs Here is the jeep I had last. 97 TJ 6" Teraflex lift 35x12.50 Dunlop Mud Rovers Dana 44 rear end 4.88 gears Detroit soft locker Superior axels all around Inline 4.0 6 cyl k&n air intake with vortex throttle body spacer Jet Power Module Chip
  11. Yeah they can be very cumbersome in heavy traffic, but a lot of fun otherwise. If you decide to buy one that has been lifted, PM me before you do and I'll give you some tips and pitfalls to avoid. Don't ask me how I know
  12. Sold it when I got the "marriage" bug. Had a lot of fun, and when she graduates from Med School I will have another
  13. I'm very similar to you but I have a field and stream cheapo fanny pack from Dicks'R' Us. It works well but wish I had bought one like you have mentioned above, it will work well, I have no doubt. I carry, Ammo Scent Rattle pack Grunt Drag rope about 8-10' Rubber gloves Knife Twine or wire for attaching kill tag Usually a GPS more for area mapping than getting lost. That's about it
  14. Let us know how it works. Be careful, I would think you could ruin a good chainsaw chain in a hurry with that. I'd say a machete would be fine regardless. I usually just use a mill fill or an old sithe stone.
  15. You need a stamp for whatever weapon you are using regardless of calendar date. Bow-big game archery, muzzy-big game muzzy etc
  16. They want to know where to come confiscate rations when the need arises.
  17. Sarcasm? With the whole and string, is it intended to be carried around the neck? Looks stupid and useless to me, get a holster or leave it at home. How about a user manual that says "if you pull the trigger it will shoot".
  18. 2nd time you mentioned something great at the gun show, you gonna share the story
  19. Looks good! Yes I've had the same problem and assume anyone with a 1911 has too. I had one that the bushing unscrewed and not the screw, an I couldn't separate the bushing and screw. I don't really have a good solution other than buy some new bushings and screws from Brownells and don't over tighten them.
  20. Great minds think alike, haha. Note: they had issues with the carry straps early on, but have since remedied the issue, and even sent me a replacement for free. No issues since replacement.
  21. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/939259680/midwayusa-competition-range-bag This is the bag I have. It's huge, can carry 2 guns, lots if ammo, and safety gear, lots of mag slots, and cleaning carry spots. Price is great too If you want to carry a 3rd pistol I use this, and still fits in the range bag above. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/939160870/midwayusa-tactical-pistol-gun-case?cm_vc=S014ID939259680
  22. Note: if you're running a late model vehicle like the OP, and also have oversized tires (anything over what the door tag states) and have not had your odometer/speedometer adjusted, you may not be getting accurate MPG data. I have a 08 GMC Seirra 5.7L V8, that drops to 4 cyl when coasting or going downhill. I still get 17 mpg maximum on the interstate. Average about 15.5, as low as 13, depending on 4wd use.

    RUGER SR 1911

What's the going price for these now? I didn't know if limited availability has kept the price up higher than expected.
  24. Can we play guess who it was?
