  1. If one was traveling to Jamaica is there anything liquor wise that could be available worth purchasing? Maybe a good Rum? We'll also be stopping in Mexico so anything there I might be able to grab, suggestions welcome
  2. I agree, but sometimes rifles are cumbersome. Our fishing guide in Alaska carried a 454 Casual Magnum. It's difficult to fish and carry a rifle too. Maybe that was wise, maybe he was a dumbass, I don't know
  3. Nice work, got one ordered
  4. They are building the wine case at the Green Hills Kroger. I told my wife yesterday while we walked past, "we'll be lucky if we don't become alcoholics now"
  5. @TGO David I certainly don't want to cost you any more grief than necessary and if Tapatalk won't work, that's fine, but I still prefer it over any mobile skin. Just my 2 cents. I agree with @Raoul if there is a way to tone down the super white, that'd be good.
  6. Beer and hockey. If we loose, I won't care by the end.
  7. East Tennessee is on of my favorite places in the country.  I no longer live there, but it's really hard to beat! Welcome to Tennessee
  8. Those turned out great. Is there a price difference between the brands? I'd buy either one.
  9. Man you should make a set of kitchen knives. They'd be awesome. I couldn't afford them but they'd be sweet.
  10. Yes those are wild black cherries.  Fruit can be produced on trees as young as 10, but in natural stands ages 30-100 are the fruit bearing years.  I'd say those were maybe 5-7 year old trees depending on site and amount of sunlight.  Black Cherry is an early successional species (think first to grow back after clearcut) and grow pretty fast in the early years.
  11. Don't forget about post #15, if you want any trees ID I need more context than just leaf pics.     Eastern Red Cedar and Western Red Cedar are not technically Cedars but are considers such.  Eastern Red is Juniperus virginiana and Western Red is Thuja Pilcast, more of a Cypress.   The native Americans in the upper northwest invented cooking on cedar planks using Western Red Cedar.  I believe most planks made here in America are Western Red.  I would think eastern red cedar would impart too much pugent flavor regardless if it was soaked or not.  I would stick to fence posts and closet linings and find something else to cook with.
  12. FYI Poplar is a Soft Hardwood and is generally not good for burning in any function. Other similar species are basswood, cucumber, buckeye etc. even red maple is a soft hardwood. Sugar Maple is hard hardwood.
  13. I can identify most native trees. I have trouble with the ornamental yard stuff but even then I can usual deduce what it is. I would participate in any thread about trees and tree ID. There are three pictures that would help most. 1) picture of the leaf 2 picture of the tree trunk from a distance that the bark is clear but not too close. 3) where is the tree growing, especially if it's natural grown and not planted. So the two trees you posted are 1) Post Oak 2) Chestnut Oak or Chinquapin. Most likely chestnut oak.
  14. One thing I like about the stuff we have on the front porch is it can take a pretty good pressure washing without stripping or gouging like wood. Yes it can be a little slippery but I'm thinking the low maintenance is worth it. Going to use a light grey color and leave the railing dark brown which will match the front. It's just gonna be a lot of work.
  15. So anyone have experience with composite decking boards. I debating replacing the floor on my deck with composite floor boards. We have composite flooring on the front porch but it was installed by the builder, so I don't know the brand or how it is to work with.
  16. So I had some friends visit last week as I posted above. On the way they stopped at Woodford Reserve and took a tour, and brought me a gift. This is only sold at the distillery. It's smooth and sweet on the front with that traditional Woodford oak and spice in the aftertaste. Very good on my opinion.
  17. It's unique. A good smooth flavor. But it's $75 vs $40. So the value is definitely better for the Dickel. But it's better than other $75 bottles I've tasted.
  18.     This is truth...... but you should be able to make it home from the dealership without it falling the fuck apart
  19. I was really just taking a jab at him, but I don't think we seriously want to start comparing reliability of Jeep vs Toyota. None are perfect, Jeep is at the top of the "non-perfect" list.
  20. There's only one real solution here.....take it back and buy a Toyota  :taunt:  :hiding:
  21. I carried a Glock 29 in the woods everyday for several years. I can't imagine a better option for power to weight to capacity ratios. I used a raven concealment kydex holster.
  22.     Right, I think the issue here is that the money is given to buy the gun "for you" not "for them".  If the gun is destroyed before it leaves the state, how is it illegal.  Yes, you are performing a task with someone else's money, but if the firearm is never transferred or is never intended to be transferred, is it still illegal?      If Michael Bloomberg sends me $550 in the mail with the stipulation that I buy a Glock and melt it down, is that illegal.
  23.     regardless of what he said, the gun belongs to the individual who purchased them.
  24.     Unless you buy the guns for someone who cannot legally purchase them and actually transfer them to that person, it's not a straw purchase.     If someone gives you money to buy a gun and destroy it, I don't see how that's a straw purchase.
  25. The white liquor was not my thing but it was fine. I think once aged it'll be worth the purchase. The regular Bell Meade 9year was good. The single barrel was very good.
