Can a gas tube be shortened? If I buy a carbine length gas tube can I use a tube cutter and shorten it to fit a pistol system?

If a buyer wants to place one of his pieces in a museum I think it's great. Let's face it, shooting guns especially antiques will wear on them, and some are just too valuable to risk. What kind of spread are we talking here? 5" or 24". Generally they are inherently inaccurate due to the distance from the bullet to the rifling. The bullet has to travel a short distance before contacting the rifling.

Get pictures of all the proof marks, serial numbers and general finish condition, then visit the USGI section on 1911forum.com. Those guys will know the most. There are several factors that add and detract from value, unfortunately I don't know any of them.

Coal Creek has its shortfalls but they have been consistently $25 for transfers for a while. Plus a lot of online retails i use keep their info on file which simplifies my end. Plus they are just plain convenient in location for me.

Yeah I chose not to carry at the football/baseball/NASCAR extravaganza weekend. I could have shot someone in all that traffic. It was backed up 50 miles outside Atlanta on I-85! You could easily carry in the Georgia Dome. They only search bags and purses, not your person. I was gonna pocket carry my .380. And could have done so no problem. The MARTA was so packed after the game, you could n't draw a weapon If you had it, let alone not hit bystanders. Literally elbow to elbow, butt to butt, it was kind of nerve racking.
