Need help with ready to pull the trigger AR15 purchase.
Lumber_Jack replied to jport's topic in Long Guns
Yeah, don't buy the hype that 1:7 is the best or better. Each has it own purpose. I have a 1:9 and shoots fine up to 62gn never tried anything heavier. If you want to shoot the heavy 70+ you should probably get a 1:7. Or as Steelharp said a 1:8 gets the middle of the spectrum. Most store bought and surplus ammo is 55 or 62gr which would be fine with a 1:9 -
I agree the bullet puller is a crucial instrument. My first batch I ever loaded had the bullet seater die turned all the may down and seated a .45 bullet almost entirely in the case. Mistakes are inevitable.

NM, the lack of quotations is this thread had me confused. I'd have to believe the academy workers were mistaken on the S&W model. No 15 sport should be $899

Lots of reports saying Dooley is gone from UT. No official announcement until after Kentucky game. We'll se what actually comes to fruition.

Suggestions for dealing with trespassers?

Just a note, when it comes to rural trespass and especially hunting TWRA is much more responsive that county sheriffs. I've had county deputies not even show up, TWRA most always sends and officer -
I hope you are being factious. He needs to go to jail, and there shouldn’t even be any discussion about pensions. Acting crazy after being caught buying your girlfriend a Rolex watch with campaign contributions does not equal “Resigning for health reasonâ€. Another Chicago thug working the system.
The article says jail time is inevitable. Now we can argue how much is enough but they seem to think he'll spend some time behind bars.

Suggestions for dealing with trespassers?
Lumber_Jack replied to Raoul's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I wouldn't give anyone who willing trespasses permission to lick dirt off my boots. Lease it to someone responsible maybe, but not those dirt bags. There is no excuse for trespass & illegal hunting. Either you own it, or you know the person that does. If its questionable then you go somewhere else. -

Buddy, unfortunately you're fighting a tough battle. As a land manager I can say there is no surefire way to stop trespassing besides direct confrontation, and thy can get sketchy. Often trespassers have a sense of ownership regardless of who actually owns the land. An if they don't they have a blatant disregard for the law. Either way, be careful & assertive, but I'd recommend being respectful. These things can escalate to an unnecessary level quickly. -
Kudzu was intentionally imported and planted in the US, as a road side buffer. It grows slowly in Japan, and is cultivated there for food. The thought was it was good ground cover, and the public could harvest it. Little did they know it would grow CRAZY fast here. And it is also darn near impossible to kill off, once it has taken root.
Can grow up to 12" in one DAY!!

Walmart Sig M400 On Sale Pending or Marketing Spin
Correct.
Pretty good price too for the magpul version. I wonder how many each store will have. -
I felt it, but thought it was a large truck drivin by as those shake my house too. What was different was my dogs freaked out, which isn't unusual but they were kind of frantic for a second running as if they didn't know which way to run.
Look at the Nordic tube. they are just as good and about 1/3 the cost. I realy like mine. You can get a rail to go on top as well or on the bottom for that matter. There is also PLENY of clearance for whatever you want to put on your barrel. Dolomite
I saw those but didn't know anything about them. I'll check em out.
I had a MI gen1 freefloat on my last AR and it had tons of clearance on the inside, so you shouldn't have any trouble if you go that route.
Yeah I ordered one yesterday. The Gen 2 had 1.5" outside diameter, I thought that was the inside diameter. The KX3 is 1.38 outside, so it was close but no way to make it fit. The Gen 1 will be plenty of room. There was no way a suppressor would fit under that gen 2. I could have gotten the shorter gen 2 but midway didn't have them in FDE so I just ordered the gen 1. It's actually gonna save me $50 over the other.
I am surprised no one had said this. Polk, Growing up and I remember going out and picking Polk. I believe it has to be picked some in the spring time before it gets berries. It does have to be cooked (twice I believe). Most people I know made it into polk salad. Although I have had the leaves fried once(not sure how they prepared it.) I haven't had it since I was a kid, and last summer I wanted to try it again but I had waited to late in the year to pick it. However I just found out my aunt has some in the freeze and is going to fix some next time I get to go home for my wife and I. My wife has never tried it. Probably not a good survival food as I understand there is allot of work to get it ready to eat. I know she double cooks it. Also I have always been told the berries are poison I don't know.
I thought about this one as many old timers ate it all the time. There is however a certain faction that believes Polk even when cooked isn't healthy and some even say toxic. I don't believe most people eat enough to really be toxic, but who knows who's right.

well Damnit So I ordered a 12" rail to fit over my 10.5 barrel and KX3, and then would eventually get a suppressor. well I got the MI gen 2 and while I had measured for the gas block clearance, much to my dismay, the KX3 will not fit inside the rail. This is unfortunate because I really like the rail, and if the KX3 won't fit, there is no way a suppressor is going to fit. So it looks like the Gen 2 is going back and I'll swap it for the Gen 1, or the Troy Alpha. looks like the assembly will be delayed another week
I'd wager most on that list were waiting to see who would be it before they finally decided. With taxes going up on a down economy, that makes for a bad business plan when businesses are already struggling. Obamacare did most of the damage, now that it looks like the "law of the land", like Mr. Boehner said.
I'm working with a head hunter that's trying to get me a job in the Tri-Cities and he spoke with a couple companies that said specifically that they were waiting for the outcome of the election before they hired any new positions. And as you can imagine they weren't hoping for Obama

Gas block is here. I like it nice and small. Free float should be here today sometime. No shame in filing for unemployment. That's why it's there, it's when you live on it permanently that it becomes shameful. Hope you find something soon.
