  1.     yep, Ive had to stop myself many times from yelling "noooo" when people agree to buy guns from those places
  2. Gander Mountain is for "gandering" only.  "spending" is done elsewhere :D
  3. Sorry, Lumberjack, but they weren't somewhere young white kids shouldn't go. They were at a condo complex on Washington Pike. This is true. I was confusing the carjacking for the location I the abandoned vehicle. Although some sections of Washington Pike give me pause. I still believe it was racially motivated regardless of what the investigation says.
  4. Race definitely played a role, as well as the deceased being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Reality is, there are places young white kids shouldn't go. But the media would lead you to believe only black people are targeted after dark.
  5. No doubt. I carry a Glock 29 for weight and size but my first love is 1911.

    Adam Ant

That is an awesome factoid. I do a lot of work in the Dayton area and had no idea Adam Ant was possibly nearby.
  7. My wife is a big fan of the over the head banana hammock. I have three
  8. Or three, or four, or five! lol Possibly even six :D
  9. Those are so awesome it's not even funny. But my wife's gonna have to be out of med school q few years before I can afford that much on a cross bow upper.
  10. I'd choose .308 for the reasons nightrunner stated. Short action is better for follow up shots, the bolt generally works quicker. It's a good round for long range. .270 is generally more available in panic situations but hopefully that won't be an issue again soon
  11. Ok, I'm a seasoned hunter but never owned a compound bow. What should I do before buying. Is there places to test shoot bows. Where is the best place to buy? I don't want to sink a fortune but don't want crap either. I can visit any store in the Bristol -Nashville -Clarksville corridor. Help?
  12. Thanks for the link we'll check it out. Also I should have stated that a Furnished rental would be best, as we don't have spare furniture to move, especially for just one month.
  13. The 1911 10MM I own is a Dan Wesson but there are several custom houses (Nighthawk, Les Bare, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat) that offer 1911s in 10MM (or at least they did last time I looked). Yeah I figured they did, I was just thinking of non-custom 10mm offerings.
  14. Just to clarify, we're looking for legit rental property, no necessarily a favor. Also any offers or agreement will have to be approved by my wife so if she declines, no hard feelings :) I think mostly be working 7am-7pm M-F
  15. Dan Wesson makes a 10mm
  16. My wife is doing a one month rotation at Vanderbilt medical center. Any leads on short term housing in Nashville? Needs to be clean and SAFE, needed for the month of September so time is of the essence. Any tips would help. Thanks
  17. I'll give you $300 and a first born child for that, what do ya say?
  18. Accurate #9, load to 10mm potentential :D
  19. Yes, this is second hand from my FIL, but that number was after any tax rebate.
  20. My in-laws have a geothermal. It works fine except the unit was a 6ton and the house needed at least 8-10ton unit. So this cause it to be overloaded and broke down constantly. They have recently installed a standard heat pump for the upstairs and running the geothermal downstairs. Time will tell if this solves the break down issue. Literally they have had 3 complete unit replacements in 10 years and several other compressor only replacements. I think if all worked flawlessly the break even mark was 15 years. One thing to consider is yard space. The loops have to be buried 6' deep and extend through a certain amount of space. If you plan to expand or build any outdoor features the the loops have to be dug up and moved. Like my in-laws installed a pool and had to have the loops moved.
  21. The man was interfering with a city worker taking down illegally placed signs on an overpass. I have no sympathy for him. He has a right to vocalize his protest but not physically interfere. The guy was pushed to the ground. I think he'll live.
  22. I did the same thing when I got my HCP. Took me a while to get used to it, but I can't imagine going back now. That's funny. I did the same, carried my wallet on right side for 15 years then started carrying a gun and switched.
  23. Well, that settles it for me, then they're around that part of the Clinch range for sure. Timbers have long fangs and put out a high venom yield, probably our most dangerous snake really if actually bitten. Supposedly the mildest tempered of the rattlers though (it's the one favored for religious snake handling), but it was still definitely best dispatched, for you and your animals both. - OS Timber Rattlers native range covers the entire state of Tennessee, so you could encounter them anywhere, even near town if habitat was conducive nearby. Most TR's I've encountered have been docile. Some never moved when I stepped right next to them, one barely moved, even when prodded with a stick. One however stood up and tried to block our path. We stepped to the side and it moved in front of us. It's in snake heaven now.

    flip up sights

I too use Magpul flip ups as a backup system. I like the spring loaded flip up. But I rarely use them except to make sure they're still sighted in. I have a vortex Strikefire red dot that I use mostly
  25. Welcome from another Knoxvillian
