  1. Thanks Jeff, How do you like the long eye relief? Any problems with acquisition or with two-eye open shooting?
  2. Also, if there's a different model of Eotech you'd recommend over the 553 I'd love to hear about which one and why. Thanks.
  3. Yes it's forward of the receiver.
  4. I'm considering putting an Eotech 553 on a Springfield M1A Socom. The other options I've considered are the Aimpoint M3 or PRO or the Leupold Scout 2.5x28. Can anyone talk me into or out of any of the above?
  5. Unfortunately for me, "need" and knives don't seem to go together. Good luck selling it, it should go quickly.
  6. The fire straws are a cool idea. I keep a plastic bag with vaseline and cotton balls and another with dryer lint along with a firesteel and some waterproof matches
  7. Nice one Mav. You really can't go wrong with a Hinderer.
  8. Absolutely. Their warranty is bulletproof, although odds are you won't need it. Put up some pics when you get it.
  9. I love my Ratmandu's (all three of them) but have heard that the 711 is a fantastic knife. I also just heard that Dan at Scrapyard was getting ready to raise the price on the 711's. For the money I'd buy the 711 now and then buy the Ratmandu later.
  10. Just to parrot everyone else, great service and great folks. They've done builds for several of my friends and did a refinish job on a Les Baer 1911 for me. Top notch all the way.
  11. I fully endorse this thread. Pics please...
  12. Edited due to dead horse flogging.
  13. It never fails to amaze me how much of an idiot this guy is.
  14. I find knives much more addictive as a collector than I ever found guns. There are so many craftsmen making so many incredible knives that you never run out of new things to discover.
  15. You really do have to stay on top of it. I've kind of gotten obsessed with finding an older Umnum and a small Insingo Sebenza. If you don't catch them as soon as they post you probably won't get it.
  16. Holy run-on sentence Batman...
  17. Yep, someone got a good deal on that one. I put some blue Hinderer scales on mine. It would be my daily carry if it weren't for those damned efficient, perfect ZT 0350 and small Sebenza that currently take that role.
  18. Like Mav said, the knives I collect seem pretty stable in price. I have found a few good deals on the used market that I might not have found a year or two ago.
  19. Really nice! I'd love to have a Star Tac, especially one of the older ones that doesn't have the stabilizer disc.
  20. Could you add a block for "Neither. Screw the BCS. Bring a playoff to college football"?
  21. Congrats Steve! How much of that saved cigarette money has gone towards knives and guns?
  22. One-piece? You've got to be close to having the whole collection by now.
  23. Yeah Eric, I'm with you too. I'm going to quit buying knives and guns next year. And quit drinking so much beer. And drop those last five pounds to get me back to my high school weight. Who am I kidding? I'm not going to do any of those things. I AM going to sell my boat next year. I'm going to buy more knives than I need then sell some of them because I feel guilty for buying so many knives that I don't need. I'm going to drink beer. Probably lots of beer. I like beer. I'll probably add five pounds to that other five pounds that I haven't lost yet. Regardless, Happy New Year. I wish you the best in your endeavor. I'll buy any of your Chris Reeve's that you decide you need to liquidate at firesale prices.
  24. I traded it plus some cash for a custom Busse. Mainly it was the best trade bait that I had at the time and I really wanted the Busse. I imagine I'll have another one at some point. Just waiting for the right deal on the Exchange.
