From their FAQ : Plated bullets occupy a position between cast bullets and jacketed bullets. They are soft lead, but have a hard outer shell on them. When loading plated bullets we have found best results using low- to mid-range jacketed data in the load manual. You must use data for a bullet that has the same weight and profile as the one you are loading. Do not exceed mid-range loads. Do not use magnum loads. in a .45ACP Ball Equivalent jacketed data will be fine consult your powder manufacturer.. I have loaded Berrys to over 1100 fps in my 10mm (Bar-Sto Barrel) and it shot fine just mind your crimp a heavy taper or roll will cut into the plating and your accuracy falls off/keyholes possible John http://www.berrysmfg.com/faq-q21-c1-Load_Data_for_Berrys_Preferred_Plated_Bullets.aspx

M1 Garand Shooting Far Left - How to fix?
LngRngShtr replied to lshel's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Also check the front sight on the gas tube there is an allen bolt that pinches the front sight onto the gas tube assembly it could possibly shoot loose or have been offset to correct for the last shooter.(just re-read your post it seems you have tried this but I will leave this up as it may help others) mine due to my eyes tends to favor the right side of the gas tube assembly. I was taught years ago that they called it "Targeting" to get it close to POA/POI windage by adjusting this then walk in with the rear sight adjustments as a fine tune. Each click of either elevation or windage changes the strike of the bullet approximately one inch on the target for every 100 yards of range, over its effective range. Windage can be adjusted 16 clicks to the right or to the left of center index, and elevation can be adjusted from 0 to 72 clicks. Sighting-In 1. Windage zero. Center your rear sight according to the index marks on the receiver and sight base. Center the front sight in the dovetail. Under no-wind conditions, fire a group at 100 yards. If the group is not centered, loosen the front sight and move it opposite to the direction of the group error. Repeat as necessary. 2. Elevation For simple "Battle-Zero," Zero-in at 25 yards, then come up 1 click. This effectively zeros-in for 200 yards. This should result in groups centered on a 4" diameter from 0 to 400 yards. -
on the shotgun choice good choice but the 5-shot barels for the Moss500 are more common than the 8 shot barrels when I bought mine 5 or so years ago I found this out I was going to convert my 5 shot 500 to an 8 shot until I did the barrel research and found limited options vs the 5 shot now I have a 5 shot HD with the 18" and a 28" waterfowl/Turkey gun and am considering cutting down and threading for chokes another 28" to 22" for a dedicated Turkey barrel or slug gun for Deer.. Just doublecheck barrel availability before you corner yourself you might find the barrels you need for the 8 shot these days

Cant believe i am actually saying this but I made room in my safe for all my mags after i priced out the replacement costs I can remember the old army/Navy Surplus store having 5 Gal. buckets full of 30 rnd. AR mags and couldn't give them away Oh for a weeks pay and a time machine ... John

Mine is like that used a MESA adapter and side saddle and swapped out trigger assembly with a Maverick 88 makes for an easier safety manipulation much quicker than the tang safety when you use a stock like this.. trick these days is to find a Maverick 88 trigger assembly doubles as my Turkey gun with a 28" barrel

for fun do the math when you figure your taxes do them straight up then deduct 1,000.00 and redo them I am thinking it is for folks who cant do the math and would only make a small change to the bottom line, remember the tax people thought this up and tax lawyers are like a casino the house always wins once they get you to play...

it being a Gov. place I would say no.

Actually the M-1 Thumb is caused when closing the bolt on an empty rifle more so than one with a full clip of 8 more room to leave the errant digit in the action.keep your 4 fingers "bladed"forward of the op rod handle to hold the bolt from moving forward You Tube M-1 Garand and look for the older US Army training films. you will see the "blade" technique used. Some M-1s will still need a bump to the op rod after inserting a loaded clip to close on the first round it is considered normal by most folks.. TM9-1275 is very helpful http://www.garandgear.com/m1-garand-tm9-1275 I have heard some folks tell you need to load it so the top round is either to the left or the right (depending on whos talking) to avoid the "7th. round jam" I have not found this to be so on my rifle. you will learn quickly to put your thumb on the back of the reciever while firing (curled over stock might hit nose while firing) and keep your support hand fingers out of the op rod channel, not as painful... with practice you can catch the empty clip after it ejects and GREASED properly it will toss the empties at 1-3 o'clock my older eyes appreciate the addition of a NM hooded rear sight but otherwise she is in Mil trim and I have seen "shot out" M-1s still group surprisingly well ( 8-10" @ 100 yds with surplus) Keep it stock if you ever want to enter a "John C. Garand" match I would have to change out my rear sight to enter it is that strict a rule set. John

THIS is why they say never get in an argument with an idiot (P.Morgan) after a certain point it gets hard for folks to tell who the idiot is :ugh:

Built only a few years 93-95 either 27" or 30" tube nice balance Browning website can help you with the Year of Mfg. not truly recoilless but pretty close almost bought one back in 1997 I went for a Beretta AL390ST 32" instead, I figured future parts availability may be better also a different barrel and I had my duck gun also John

Dont be surprised if your 'smith says it is all set Winchester used one for ammo testing named it Old Reliable over 1.2 Million rounds fired heres a link to DOB using your serial number http://marauder.homestead.com/Model97sn.html I own 2 and the 30" full makes a great crow gun as I wont shoot steel through it for waterfowl back when we could use lead it was a real duck killin machine that now makes apperances at the trap range occasionally.

I use the +3 method seems to work out pretty good.. as many as you think you will need and then at least + 3 Spares and if you should damage or lose one . Glock 23 1 in gun 1 on belt +3 =5 AR fill pouches in case/vest +3 = $$$$$ in P-Mags before this panic buying I was looking into 6 Lancer L5s and some 20 rd for bench shooting.. 1911 after many years of running the 1911 platform in IPSC/USPSA the count is 27 with 3 lost due to damage (3 different calibers) Speedloaders for the wheelgun about a half dozen each platform ( K and L frame S&W ) belt + 3 :panic: clearing out a spot in the safe now to put them as replacing them would break me LOL John

Walnut/Lizard Litter for the first pass to clean and remove range dust etc. then load them up and corn cob to clean lube off and shine em up. 2 tumbler bowls bought second at Harbor Freight they have/had a tumbler that looked freakishly like the Frankford Arsenal one I own and was selling the bowls separate.. pistol brass usually just gets the walnut or Lizard Litter John

What did they say in the Old West ? You can't outdraw a drawn gun... and yeah the "instructor" knew where the armed threat was Kobiashi Maru and Kirk wasn't invited to play..

I always toss an empty in just in case. used to decap and fill primer pocket with hot melt glue or a piece of pencil eraser. especially on O/U S/S shotguns as the standard belief is fragile firing pins besides I dont want to explain to my Dad how I broke the Family's Parker firing pins All except my Browning Medalist gotta love the onboard dryfire setting  John

What to do if the ban passes...
LngRngShtr replied to thefinder808's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I vote for being aggressively oppositional to this BEFORE it happens.... we have 2 boxes left the ballot and the soap convert your "neutral" friends or maybe if you are lucky convert a negative to a neutral vote. as far as if "it" passes in its current form,..dont holler before you are hit keep the pressure here in TN and encourage your relatives in the other states to pressure theirs and hope the heck the politicians look on the number of background checks as potential votes 16.8 million in 2012 according to the Feds. and some of them realize that this is just what it is,.. for a few dollars more just get a Harris check amazon Basic Harris no swivel,no notch, start around $65.00 or so http://www.amazon.com/Harris-Engineering-1A2-LM-Solid-Base/dp/B000VYR0H6/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1357072827&sr=1-2&keywords=harris+bipod+9-13 add a few bucks for notch legs ,swivel etc. for me it is a Harris or a sandbag have used my Harris for 20+ years not a glitch, try that with a UTG and get back to me. do some math vs. the cost of the investment of the rifles the Harris will fit isn't that expensive and can be moved from rifle to rifle easily.. theres a reason why Harris always comes up when you ask/search for a bipod they work and they last.

" especially when you consider the possibility of multiple purchases on a single check depending on the state... so the actual # could be up to what 5 times that ? -
Tapered case is resized smaller than bullet diameter so you get what we referred to as the "coke bottle effect" chamber check a few with the barrel out of the pistol if they drop in you are G2G no need to "iron it out" as you may undersize the bullet in the case which if carried to extremes will lead to bad accuracy and even keyholing.. my .38 supers look like that too, but all drop into my case gauge and chamber so they run the .38 Special .40 10mm and .45 will be less likely to show that effect as they are straight walled cases but might depending on how much the resizing die resizes them

You are asking how a panic buying before it is banned mind works,...it is what we call in retail a "related item" without ammo you have a $2,000.oo paperweight so in their minds 1 rifle +10 mags + 1 case of ammo = 1 purchase quantities may vary but that is the basic formula now why the reloaders are stocking up ..... could just be end of year shortages since the shops know complete rifles and ammo are a sure sell and components are a secondary source basic retail again stock your heavy selling items and let the "seasonal" go light it is about the bottom line in my opinion 'I want one of them there ARs,...." "OK but you know you will need ammo, magazines, case and a red dot scope..." "I got me a $5,000.00 credit limit go ahead and add it on..." swipes card " and have a Happy New Year sir....."

20 year old Gen II Glock 23 other than some whimpy handloads and a crap aftermarket mag (always get factory origionals) has never once bothered to slow down only add in was a scherer plastic plug and just this year I did some mild stippling as the frame got a little smooth after all these years. sometimes "improvement" causes bugs in the system I dont need a rail or finger groove bumps or whatever those are called that they always seem to put in just the wrong place.. Find what works for you , run the snot out of it then bet your life in the self defense lottery all the while like me hoping your ticket never gets called, and if it does hoping everything goes your way bringing you and yours out the other side safely John
