I like this part

Thanks for the replies. I hear ya. Follow-up shots is a good point. I've had to do that shooting gound hogs with my 17HMR and it seems a "correct fit" would help with the speed AND accuracy. Than there's the novelty of carrying a lefty. Is it seen as "custom" or "special" or "pricey"?????????????
-
I have two other bolt guns, a 22 and a 17HMR. I'm shopping for a .308 and notice some brands offer left handed at nearly the same price. Should I stick with what I know or are there unforseen benefits I should pursue in a left handed bolt gun? Since the price is so close of course.

Bullet??????????????? I'm thinking Obama will do a drone strike.

best carry caliber for hiking, wildlife protection

Here in east TN, we have a pack of wild dogs that roam the woods. They are large mongrels. We have black bears and coyotes too but it is the wild dogs that give people the creeps. I took out one with a shot gun during grouse season and a friend of mine took out one with his .270 dear rifle at near point blank range, just before daylight. Think you hear something so you shine the flashlight and................................ -
Push back from a new group O didn't see coming.

This is all new to me. I love history and guns, etc....... but a connection between blacks and the NRA was not a part of my public school and college education. Surprise! -
Can't believe it. I partially agree with Bill Maher

Opening monolog trying to be funny about very serious topics. Obama, who taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago is leading the charge to dismantle our Bill of Rights. But he is not the only one, most previous presidents have pushed the limit. Yes, the Patriot Act was often attacked and it's attackers were given some credence. I like Bill's point about wire-taps, it is a good one. Bill actually implies a media bias in Bush vs Obama. I'm glad some things in the Patriot Act were allowed to sunset. I guess it served a purpose at the time but I was not real happy with it. I've trusted all past presidents more than I trust Obama. Off topic but speaking of the constitution, Originally, we allowed presidents to serve as many terms as they could win. There's has been talk just this week of returning to that. I saw that coming. -
Poll - On your carry gun; Safety or no Safety?
One in the chamber, hammer down, no safety. DA/SA
^^^^^^^^^^^^What he said -
Another plug for the PK380. Just plain comfortable in the hand; easy slide operation; low recoil; SA/DA, tolerates limp wrist. The manual safety option appeals to many women (and those standing near-by). Mine eats every ammo I tried, 100%. At around 19oz it is not snappy at all.

Back when I was a kid I was all over the neighborhood either walking or by bike, the 70s. Most people let their dogs run loose and thought nothing of it. As kids, we knew how to deal with it: don't run, don't show fear, pick up a stick or rock, or just act like you've picked up a stick or rock. Kids and dogs both survived. Glad to hear you've worked it out

More than a hater of pail-face, but a hater of America in general. Just like Rev. Wright and that croud. The media is full of these liberals at every level, every age, local and national. The article says "Albert Bender, a Cherokee activist, journalist, historian and grant writer, lives in Antioch" He left out "propagandist". He blames the guns, Ronald Reagan, and whites. He implies that the native tribes lived in peace and harmony one with the other but in fact they wared and took slaves of each other. Of course he will fail to mention any facts that do not satisfy his liberal bias.

I have researched the LC9, I really love the ergonomics, size and features. Check out Cabelas.com. Currently, their patrons have posted 34 owner reviews. The score is at 3.7 out of a possible 5 which is really quite low. Alot of people must have been expecting something else but it is what it is, long and vague trigger. As long as you know that going in and feel you've done your research, go for it and enjoy. (or not)

Your leaning toward XD, that's good. Your looking to carry, look at compact. Your planning on shooting alot, make it 9mm. For self defense you'll need a top quality self defense round that will do the job. Just some thoughts based on what you've told us so far. Several said PPQ which is full size but a top quality piece. Several said Ruger SR9c which is also very good and might be a good fit. Personally, I had enough of the 1911 when I was in the military in the early 80s so I have nothing positive to say there.

S&W has a clone that is similar. I don't have a P99 but it is on my short list. I have other Walthers and the P99 is a must have. I like the decocker option, the feel, the mag release, etc...............
-
The M&P 22 and the Ruger SR22 both look sweet. Back when ammo prices took off, I decided I needed a combat style 22 to use as a trainer. Since I have other Walthers, I went with the Walther P22 and it has been 100%. There are plenty of fine 22 pistols on the market (and as many opinions) but once you know what you want, the list will trim down alot. Some are great target pistols but I like the recent new-comers that satisfy a desire for combat/tactical, you know, accessory rail and similar features. By the way, I noticed the M&P web site says, "Made by the .22 experts at Carl Walther, GmbH for Smith & Wesson" Just wondered if you noticed that.

Don't think this is how the "stand your ground law" works
-Bristol- replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Obama throwing in his .02 cents early and often is what burns me up. And Holder is mud in the works. Neither are helping. -
It was the wifes idea really. She works for a Pharmacy and they stay open late. And our home has been broken into twice. We've been married 25+ years and had often done target shooting and clays on our own acreage but in recent years we've moved away from long guns and more into handguns and self defense drills. I hope I never have to use against an attacker but ready if needed.
-
So did the PPQ replace the P99? I noticed P99 is no longer listed on the Walther-America web site.
-
I've passed on several that I should have bought, now I can rarely find one for under $200. There are many functional and cosmetic upgrades that can be done. New grips and sites, etc........excellent and deadly accurate toy.
-
I've wanted one myself. I think for fit and function I'm placing it ahead of most other .380s. But for now I'll stick with my Walther. But the Taurus is smaller and lighter. Alot lighter.

Gringrich Smartest one in the Bunch

The Statistics and the Media. They do their research and if a candidate begins to rise in the polls and crosses a majical threshold, they release the dogs, making 20 year old claims, no legal action just claims. It is a proper vetting and I invite it, why they failed to do such vetting with BHO should be clear to us all. Senator John McCain was pretty clean but went on to lose. Some amount of baggage will be tolerable if it is offset with large amounts of other stuff, like being the smartest man in the room. We must not allow the liberal media to pick our candidate. By continuing to run and make reference to the baggage, the media can direct the sheep into a pre-determined result. Don't be the sheep.
