  1. Sweet.. flashchat kicks ass. As a bonus you can also use an IRC client if you don't want to use the web browser.
  2. Cheap Guns Are Good Enough by Massad Ayoob
  3. Bang. HAH, just kidding.
  4. Well I signed up there yesterday.
  5. There is personal defense ammo that is designed in part to reduce muzzle flash since a lot of shooting situations take place in low light conditions. Hornday TAP FPD, for example. It might be worth trying if the flash is that big of a problem.
  6. Maynardville? I wonder if he knows Bill Morgan or Roy Mullins! -Chris C&C up air on-a highway
  7. Excellent.. count me in!
  8. I just happened to be thumbing through this very magazine at Books a Million last weekend and I came across this article. Another great Ayoob piece.
  9. I'm not interested in the organizing part, but I'd like to attend the dinner.
  10. Sure thing.. I should have PM'd you as Marswolf said, but what's done is done. HOA are ridiculous. The only POSSIBLE good they do is to keep people from making the neighborhood look like crap in some cases. For example, a friend of mine not too far up the road lives in a nice, quiet neighborhood. 20 year old brick houses, nicely kept .5 acre yards, 200k prices on most houses now. Nice except for the one guy who decided to fence in the entire front and back yard, and keep a couple horses, goats, and chickens in a residential neighborhood.. that's a little ridiculous. I believe in being able to do what you want with your own place, but when the guy next door wants to sell his house but is going to have a hard time getting what he is asking or even selling it at all as a direct result of what the next door neighbor is doing, I would have a problem with that. That being said, I'll never live in a 'hood with a HOA. My next house will be built on some land (enough to shoot rifles on) so I won't have to give a damn about what the neighbors are doing.
  11. A common signature on gun message boards I don't know. I guess I'd have to actually be faced with that situation.
  12. Well Marswolf, one correction in my history of being on internet message boards would hardly be considered "grammar police" I urge you to find another place where I have pointed out someone's errors, either on this message board or elsewhere. I will even PM you a list of boards I frequent if you like. Back on topic, Phil Valentine was talking about this yesterday. A resident called in but hadn't seen the letter. Maybe someone here knows someone who lives in NBV and can get a copy of this letter to post here.
  13. "Heroes" It will make the quote more meaningful when people don't notice spelling errors in it.
  14. That's the first thing I thought of.
  15. Is that $105 per case of 1000? Can you PM me that source
  16. My mom lives there and uses a guy my stepdad up there has been going to for 20 years. I'm into cars/mechanical work and I feel comfortable with them working on my mom's vehicle when I can't. He's right on the border of JC/Elizabethton near the college (not ETSU, the other one). I will ask her tomorrow what the name of it is.. I know it's on Milligan Highway.

    1919a4 project

    That's pretty damn cool.
  19. Go shooting instead!
  20. I want the best .22 bolt that can be bought for $400. Gallatin Gun Club holds .22 matches every month and I'd like a nice gun to use there. The distances go out to 310 yards, and neither .22 I have (Marlin model 60 and old Mossberg bolt) are tight enough to shoot with the accuracy I want at that distance. It needs to have a tubular magazine because I hate loading .22 detachable magazines, and while it would be nice to have a stainless barrel, it's not required for me. What's good?
  21. Well we went out there again today, shot a different gun, this time my old Mossberg bolt action .22 with a 4x scope. My dad's grandma gave it to him and he gave it to me.. it's a great and accurate gun. I believe it's 60 or 70 years old. I forgot the camera today so no pics but she shot a group slightly larger than the one above at 50 yards, and at 100 it was about a 5 inch group. After that, she shot my AR at a 1x2' steel plate about 200 yards out, offhand, and whacked it about 3 out of 10 times.. I was pleased and she said she liked it and had a good time, and wants to go back. I'm going to take her as often as she wants to go. Then I'll get her to start cleaning my guns so I don't have to "Hey, it's your job to clean the house, same goes for guns, too" I think that'll work.
  22. I loves me some AR.
  23. Well we are going again in about 30 minutes. GlocKing, shoot me your wife's number and I'll tell her how to get there
