Conductor/engineer side or other?

How many people do you have working there?
-
ETSU - My step-dad is a biology professor there. I'm an IT (computer) guy at an architecture firm in Nashville. I've been working there 6 years.

It's pretty much an entry level Kimber without night sights, but I wanted a nice full size 1911 for shooting at the range and plinking, and after doing some research, and shooting a few friends' Kimbers, I decided on this. It came down to this or a full size Stainless Springfield 1911 target gun for $100 more. $690 out the door at Guns & Leather for a brand new Kimber. The cheapest price I could find on Gunbroker was $689. I'm going to shoot it tomorrow and I'll post up some results. It feels like a really nice gun. Negative.. just a simple bolt action with adjustable iron sights and an old 4x scope that is screwed into the receiver. -

There once was a man from Nantuckett...

Arizona ain't bad. Well, except for all the illegal Mexicans.
-
Well it's illegal to hunt from your vehicle, unless you are on private land and it can't be moving or registered for highway use (four wheeler, etc). Otherwise, it's not allowed. I never heard of a specific law saying it's illegal to shoot from your vehicle. I think reckless discharging of a gun would cover it, since it would apply to you no matter where you are. Of course that is waived should you need to shoot in self-defense.
-
Even in self-defense situations? Do you have a link to the code that states this? I'm not calling you out, I just haven't heard of this law and like to read it for myself. I just don't see how it can be called "illegal" if you are in your car, with a car directly in front and back of you blocking any chance you have of escaping (not that you have to try to escape as TN doesn't require you to retreat when faced with deadly force), and some thug puts a gun in your face, and you shoot the guy. That would be clear-cut self-defense, whether it's illegal to shoot from a vehicle or not.
-
Yes it would. The Duke "rape" scandal is proof of that.
-
Well I had never heard those two names until you just posted them. I looked them up and was sickened by what I read. For anyone else who hasn't heard of this terrible story, click this link: http://readthis.wordpress.com/2007/02/18/channon-christian-rape-suspect-in-court/ I can't believe that this isn't a hugely high profile crime story. Cliff's notes: 5 blacks (4 men and one woman)carjack, rape, torture, sodomize, dismember and murder these two white kids. News stations don't pick up on it. ****ing ridiculous. I swear I wish my fiance would get a handgun permit. Pepper spray is about all I can convince her to carry, though.

SB1597 Bredesen supports "Emergency Gun Confiscations"

http://www.wkrn.com/nashville/news/bill-passes-tennesseans-can-keep-guns-in-emergencies/85773.htm Bill Passes, Tennesseans Can Keep Guns In Emergencies Tennesseans will get to keep their weapons to defend themselves in future disasters and emergencies. Tennessee lawmakers shot down a standing law allowing the governor to confiscate guns. Louisiana had the same law and enacted it in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Post-Katrina New Orleans experienced a dramatic rise in violence. To curb the chaos, Louisiana government ordered all citizens to turn in their guns. Wednesday, Tennessee senators assured residents of the Volunteer State they will keep their guns, even in a State of Emergency. Republican Senator Mark Norris proposed the bill that bans local... ...officials from taking weapons He said, “You can't complain about a vote of 32 to nothing, I’d say the state supports our Second Amendment rights, our right to bear arms, and that's important at all times, especially in times of a state emergency." Some local gun owners are happy the bill passed. Senator Norris said, "We can't have happen here what happened in New Orleans after Katrina. We don't want the government to take our guns away. We need them in times like that." J. Buford Tune supports the bill. He said, "You’re gonna have to do what you have to do at the time to protectyourself and your property." On the other side of the bill, some said during a chaotic event such as Hurricane Katrina, the government needs to step in and keep the peace. Russell Charles Ross said, "With cases like Louisiana and the deep south, yes, guns in the wrong hands, death... As a country, we're still cleaning up after the mess." Initially, Governor Phil Bredesen showed concern about giving up power during statewide emergencies, but that has changed. The governor is not expected to veto the measure. Abdelladif Ali supports the measure as well. He said, “I originally from Sudan inAfrica… We had a lot of problems with the government making laws. We don't need that there." Before the bill passed, the governor had the authority to confiscate weapons and wouldn't allow citizens to buy guns and ammunition during natural disasters or a declared emergency. Senator Norris said his bill protects Tennesseans' constitutional rights. In 2005, the National Brady Campaign to prevent gun violence gave Tennessee a grade of D when it comes to laws to prevent gun violence. For instance, safety training is not required for handgun buyers and buyers aren't required to be familiar with gun laws or know how to safelyhandle a gun. There are no consumer safety standards on guns, Tennessee does not require guns to be sold with a child safety or personalized lock to stop the gun from being used by anyone besides the owner. Also, guns aren't required to be registered with law enforcement and police do not have a record of how many guns are in the state, or where they are. -
Well I keep one in my Mustang, but that's because it's irreplaceable. If my 99 Ranger caught on fire I wouldn't piss on it. I'd grab my wallet, gun, and phone out of it, stand there and smile as I thought about the insurance check.

-Maglight -Lighter (and I guess papers are in there that I could use to start a fire) -Poncho -Cell phone with GPS and extra battery -Gun -Pocketknife That's really about it.

Well that's certainly good news. http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070327/NEWS0201/703270352 -
I love my life. I don't want my fiance to be a widow before we are even married. I don't want her to be taken from me at gunpoint and raped. I don't want to become a vegetable because I wouldn't give some thug my wallet or car and they decide to sever my spinal cord with a bullet. I don't want to die before my parents do, especially not because someone killed me on purpose. I can't handle the thought of my mom being at my funeral. In short, personal protection, and protection of the loved ones and friends with me.

You are right. I went to Gallatin Gun Club today for about an hour and a half.. plinked away with my XD-45 and semi auto .22 rifle with a little scope (Marlin model 60) at a steel plate @ 200 yards. I was wearing it out with .22 as would be expected and even hit it a few times with the XD I didn't have a reason to shoot today. I didn't need one. It was so damn nice I just wanted to be outside.

Well I'm anti-rubber tires. Look at all the wrecks involving cars with rubber tires. This is ridiculous! We need to go back to using wood and steel wagon wheels as there were far less injuries when using these wheels.

Not with TNspeed that I can remember.. PM me the server info and I will try.

I listened to it until I could predict what he was going to say.. Like he says, "Common sense for your dollars and sense" so once you have the principles down, it gets very repetitive to keep listening. I still turn it on every now and then but not for very long.
