  1. I tend to agree with CK1 on this, I get the training and the tools I need to do a proper job and maintain my tools (which I consider my firearms). I want to know if it breaks I can fix it and this includes have common spares on hand when possible.
  2. I use RCBS and Dillion they have excellent products and customer service and its seldom needed.
  3. Really! Dirt and grime, old powder residue, dried up solvents in places you can't reach with q-tips etc promote longevity and reduces wear. I guess preventive maintenance, fixing a problem before becomes one isn't really neccessary with something you might have to trust your life to.
  4. Yeah, I'm having my shackels fitted before the rush...
  5. After seeing a few post here and on other boards, how many of you gentlemen and ladys have taken the time to learn to detail strip your pistols, revolvers and really learn to clean and service them properly. Especially you 1911 owners, and how often do you do it?
  6. Well I hope its just as simple as that however I believe the liberals/progressives are evil incarnate. They know that if they enact this and it stands, it is the end of freedom as we know it and the end of our country as we know it. This will not be the final act on their road to our destruction.
  7. Considering he is retiring and not seeking re-election, he won't be getting anyones vote in November. Thing is when he annonced his retirement that should have told us all how he was going to vote. His vote for this atrocity is no surprise to me.
  8. Have you ever had this Glock field stripped before to clean?
  9. Its bad enough it looks like poo to begin with, but painting up, what's next fuzzy dice?

    Les Baer TRS

Never see a holster? The TRS was concieved as a fighting pistol from the ground up. Shoot and carry the heck out of it. I don't see why people buy pistols like this and then make safe queens or target pistol out of them. Anyway congrats on the TRS its'a fantastic gun, enjoy.
  11. Better be carefull asking for a constitutional convention. It won't be the run or managed by good people with good intentions. These same SOB's both Dem's and Repub's running things now will run it and they will erase what few freedoms you have left, steal anything that's left and make slaves of us all. Not that they won't accomplish that anyway in the near future.

    S.R.P

I am glad to hear you feel that way, I will have to reconsider Guns & Leahter, maybe its that they have been so busy, but I haven't been that impressed with them. Never been to HeroGear so don't know Joe and after seeing the Damascus Slide not sure I want too...lol (seriously only kidding). I need to take a Saturday and drive down and check the place out (Hero Gear). Thanks for your input.

Congrats willis68, a very fine looking pistol and a excellent choice. Looks all business to me, also have you had a chance to break in the TRS yet?

    Wilson Combat CQB

Maybe that's the problem, get that Elite out and use it as it was intended to be used. Shoot it till the finish is gone and then shoot it some more
  17. My press has been paid for for a long time. Bottom line is reloading is not going to be cost effective unless you are addicted to shooting. If you shoot 1000 rds of .45 a year at a rough cost of $350 then your probably better off buying WWB at Wally world. If you like to shoot 4,5,6,7 k rounds or more a year, reloading is a must, if you want to go out west and shoot 1000 rounds at Prarie Dogs reloading is a must. If you shoot 20 rds of 30-06 a year during hunting season then reloading would be a waste of time. Its a enjoyable hobby, your always learning something new and you can start out new relatively easy and upgrade as you go along, oh and its a lot fun.

    Corvette

I know this won't be much help, use to be into that stuff but not any longer, it just got to darn exspensive. However do a search on corvette forums, corvette owners assoc. etc. That would be a place to start.
  19. Its ok GGP2JZ to each his own most European countries are highly overrated, as is living there.
  20. Have you ever spent any time in Europe? I wouldn't live in that **** hole (and I mean the whole continent) for any amount. Bad food, smelly women the only redeeming factor is the beer is decent.
  21. I've seen revolvers bind up for a couple of different reasons, mostly related to a dirty gun. It could be as simple as the case head of a cartridge bound up on the backstrap or even dirt build up at the forcing cone binding the cylinder. I would do a really good cleaning and then test with fresh ammo (being very carefull) for function. Take it out and shoot it if possible and then re-clean. THIS APPLIES TO S&W REVOLVERS ONLY DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A HAMMER LOCK AS I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE APART. 1. Use a brass brush and clean forcing cone area aggressively. 2. If visable gunk on backstrap (where firing pin is) use brass brush and clean aggressively. 3. Take an old over caliber bore brush (.40 or .45) and scrub out chambers in cylinder again be aggressive. Make sure rounds seat flush to cylinder face when done and are free, loose in chamber. 4. Carefully inspect the hand opening in the backstrap area, the hand rotates the cylinder make sure its clean and free of obstructions. DO THE FOLLOWING ONLY IF YOU ARE MECHANICALLY INCLINED 5. Remove the grips. With proper size gunsmith screw drivers remove the three screws holding the sideplate on, mark them and make sure you know which screws came out of which screw holes. 6. Take the wooden handle of a small hammer and rap the grip frame holding the revolver in your hand with the sideplade facing up. After several raps the sideplate will loosen and you can remove it. 7. DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE ANY PARTS OR PRY ANY PARTS OUT OF THE ACTION. SPECIAL TOOLS ARE REQUIRED TO REINSTALL. 8. Use a quality gun parts cleaner to spray out the action and q-tips to work out any gunk or dirt. Dry as best you can then lightly lube. Note. If this has a transfer bar saftey it will fall out, the top u shaped portion goes between the firing pin and the hammer, the slotted end goes over the tit/pin on the rebound assy. The rebound assy is the assy at the bottom of the frame between the trigger and grip and has a strong spring inside it. The transfer bar is then held in place by the side plate when it is re-installed. 9. Re- install the sideplate, there is a small tab on the sideplate and this fits in a slot under under the frame. Place the tab in its slot and then work the slideplate back on by pressing around it. Its a tight fit don't panick and be patient. When the sideplate is back on re-install the screws in the holes from which they came. The screw in the front of the sideplate closest the barrel controls tension on the yoke (what the cylinder rotates on) don't torque it down or the cylinder will be hard to swing out. 10. Test for function
  22. Well since I quit my wife calls me a crotchety old man, mainly because I am one. She would rather have me crotchety that still smoking.
  23. I don't know if Charter has improved there quality or not, but if they are still on par with there mid 90's quality I'd rather have a sharp stick or a rock. You generally get what you pay for.
