  1. Saying that Corker continues to disappoint is like saying that summer is warmer than winter.   He's a tin-plated RINO Obama suck-up who loves the DC power trip; he adheres to principles only to the extent necessary to stay in DC and could well be the poster child for what's wrong with the Republican party (unfortunately; most of the Republicans could fit on that cover right along with him).   If I even bother to vote again I'll be voting for whoever is running against him in the primary (and then in the general election should he slither into the nomination again).
  2. I don't believe anyone here is ready to turn in their guns; I just think some of use believe that an armed rebellion (which is the issue started this thread) is a viable option.   There is a very significant difference between being afraid to fight and a conscious decision that fighting is not the answer.   I have to admit; I have all but given up...a lot of that is the bitter disappointment in my fellow citizens who kept such a truly horrible, American-hating socialist in office for another four years.  That's a lot to swallow. I'll still vote...I'll still work...but I'm not optimistic about the outcomes in 2014 or 2016.
  3. I don't need examples...I've never "trusted" the government; it's just a necessary evil.   That doesn't mean, however, that I'm going to take up arms against it or against other patriots.
  4. Well since you all are ready to start shooting each other I can tell how THIS rebellion would go...all the government needs to do is sit back and let you all take each other out.  :screwy:   It does at lest provide a perfect example of just how completely stupid any talk of a armed rebellion is.   "Three Percenters"...really???  I doubt there is 3-thousandths of a percent out there that can even agree on "who" the enemy is let alone what needs to be done.
  5. You wouldn't need to rent a boat; any ship already planning on going out to see far enough (which isn't that far if memory serves) could dump it at sea
  6. I don't really expect NY gun manufactures to move but not because of their unions...maybe these are different but unions generally just don't wield enough power today to stop a company from moving to a new location or form closing a location (in fact, unions are often why manufacturers do exactly that).   Perhaps the loss of exceptionally skilled and difficult to replace employees might although I'm not sure just how much that is an issue with those companies.
  7. If you mean are they already gone, no.  However, one does not move a manufacturing facility overnight and I've not doubt that Magpul will make good on its promise to leave - Magpul has already received commitments from many of its suppliers that they will also be leaving but I would be stunned if it takes anything less than a year to make it happen.
  8. I've spent a lot of my adult life studying American history and the writings of our founders...I don't believe any of them would have supported taking up arms had there been another way to effect change...you know...such as the ballot box.  Maybe that's why they gave US that option so that we would not have to resort to killing our neighbors??? In the first civil war (also known as the American Revolution) fought in what is now the United States, about 3% of the population of the colonies took up arms; about 10% of the population actually supported the war for independence. They defeated what was then, arguably, the most powerful army in the world but the did so with that army fighting on land they were not familiar with and only really started winning when they started using tactics that the Redcoats didn't use or even know how to use effectively...the colonists also had pretty much the same technology in weaponry as did the British.   In the second civil war, the Confederacy didn't fare to well.  It had relatively equal weaponry but was at a disadvantage in almost every measurable area otherwise.  Many if not all those same advantages would be in effect today and would be with the federal government.   In a third civil war fought today, 3% would work out to about 8.8 million people taking up arms with about 30 million in support (that's assuming a population of roughly 312 million and subtracting out 15 million illegal aliens).  Further, while the citizenry has an impressive number and quality of small arms, most of us don't own fully automatic/select fire weapons, grenades, artillery pieces, tanks, armored vehicles, or other such weapons and vehicles nor do we have a sophisticated command and support structure supported by satellite and other technology that most of us don't even know about. Moreover, we would be fighting, not an foreign invasion force but people JUST LIKE US...our neighbors...our friends...our brothers and sisters...AMERICANS. who love their country just as much as anyone else.   Sure, these new "patriots" could wage a gorilla war and inflict a lot of damage and pain (along with killing a lot of innocent people) but will those tactics actually result in the outcome proponents say they want?  Not a chance in hell. Such a conflict will result in the destruction of the country...PERIOD.  Some side would claim victory but in actually, everyone would lose; most of all the Republic given to us by the very men you mention.   Some apparently fancy themselves modern-day patriots who can throw off the tyranny of an oppressive government with their semi-auto ARs and Glocks...they romanticize patriotism just like they romanticize the American Revolution but their romanticism is based on fantasy; not reality.  Taking up arms in an effort to overthrow the federal government will only result in the complete death of the republic as well as the death of untold numbers of people who will have died for nothing.
  9. Have you read More Guns Less Crime?  Have you studied the research? I've taken two graduate level statistics courses (not to mention the undergraduate ones) and I've read and I've had the opportunity to talk with John Lott in person. His work seems more than sound to me.  That said and much more importantly, much smarter men that I have reviewed his research and found it sound and most of those with an opposing view hold that view because doing otherwise doesn't support their opinions about guns (they are no longer even willing to debate him in public because they can't discredit his work).   Rates of violent crime go down as citizens are allowed to arm and protect themselves...cities with the most restrictive gun control laws are the cities that consistently have the highest rates of violent crime.
  10. Well, what's your plan then?  Is there some new "Continental army" out there that I'm unaware of?  Is it of a size and does it have the arms necessary to defeat the U.S. military and all the combined law enforcement agencies that would resist actual rebellion?  Are people really willing to go to war with and kill neighbors and fellow countrymen?   Our problems, if they are or can be solved at all must be solved in the voting booth; something the colonists did NOT have as an option.  I think it's probably too late for that but if we cannot solve it there it WILL not be solved with arms.
  11. I think we are disagreeing on definitions here.   I think an economic collapse could result in all you mention and more which would, in my opinion, necessitate people doing what is necessary to survive.  Doing what is necessary to survive may look "like" an armed rebellion and have a similar result on whatever is left of society but that isn't an armed rebellion by any classical definition I'm aware of nor is that what I think the poll was asking.   While I can't know for certain, I believe the poll was asking about Americans rising up, with arms, in a rebellion against our current government just like the colonists did against the British government in 1776 - that, to me, is a very different animal than repelling an invading force (Mexicans, Chinese) or simply trying to protect your own life and property from the societal breakdown following an economic collapse.
  12. Castor is a good guy; a little rough around the edges is all. ;)
  13. It does take a while...but I have several SuperTucks and I love them...I have other holsters (OWB) that I occasionally use but I decided quite a while ago that the Crossbreed would be my holster of choice.   By the way, they are GREAT on customer service as well...last summer I left my holster in my vehicle (I carry inside my briefcase at the office) and it actually go so hot that the Kydex  melted and lost its shape! I sent it back to Crossbreed with the explanation of what happened (totally my fault obviously) and they replaced it free; no questions asked.
  14. I've never been scared to pass a LEO; I just try not to do it while in triple digits. ;)
  15. There doesn't have to be a winner of every conflict and regardless of "who" might claim victory, the country...all we once had and all we once could be will be gone.   As I said earlier and in other threads, I don't believe there will be a "rebellion" because I believe that our economy will collapse before a rebellion even has a chance to start at which point people will simply be trying to survive...that's what the guns and ammo will wind up be used for.   I have no illusions about my ability to survive long term after such a collapse but I will do my best to help myself and those around me stay as civilized as possible.   I'm not trying to depress everyone and I truly, truly home I'm wrong and to that end, I will keep trying...keep working...keep doing what little I can do personally to keep the dream of America alive.
  16. Well, yeah...except I don't think there will be any.
  17. Perhaps and I'll probably seek the advice of John Harris (TFA) before pulling the trigger (pun intended) on this.   One thought I've had is that if volunteers simply supply the funds and some ammo and let one of the parents do the actual purchase our liability would be limited...I don't know...this day and age who can tell?   If there are a lot of liabilities then I may just have to do this completely on my own and that's okay...I'm not afraid of a lawsuit and in fact, I love the courtroom...it's cheep entertainment to just go and watch a trial not and then on a day off.  I also would love to see the media coverage for such a trial. ;)
  18. Yeah...I would say so.   At the end of the day, we can call an armed conflict, regardless of the spark, anything we want...labels will be applied by many including those on both sides of the conflict and those who sit back and watch.  I still believe that any such conflict would only leave looses, not winners.   As to the 2014 and 2016 elections, as I've shared in other threads, I believe the 2012 elections already sealed our path and our destination...the only hope I have remaining is that I'm wrong about that.
  19. I appreciate your sentiments; I don't disagree with them.  However, there is nothing wrong with charity; in fact, it is a commandant of my savior.   So...I chose to be charitable in this way; I'm only inviting others to join me if they wish to do so.
  20. I think there are ways to handle that situation.   I'm not going to go into a lot of details but one way that works well is carrying off body in a "day planner" (Galco sells a nice one but there are others)...obviously this would not work for everyone/every profession but if you work in any sort of job where having a day planner would be seen as remotely "normal' then on one is going to question you about why you have one. If your customer want's to go into a place that doesn't allow firearms then you leave your planner in the vehicle.   I know it's not a perfect solution but it's a reasonable one.   I guess in the end I just don't see why people are so opposed to businesses who post and having those signs have the force of law...what truly bothers ME is when "public" places (parks, government buildings, schools, etc.) are "off limits" to firearms.
  21. Just like Corvette owners. ;)
  22. I suspect they will hit Iran soon...if they weren't sure before I think that he Israelis know for certain that Obama will let Iran start dropping nukes on Israel while he's still playing golf.

  24. Well...that makes me feel so much better...I've got at least a year left. ;)
  25. I am not sure if this is the most appropriate place for this thread so if one of the Admins feel it should be moved please do so!   Fellow TGO members;   Many of us here spend a lot of time on this and other forums talking about how important the right to keep and bear arms is to us, to our country, to our liberty. Ronald Reagan once said “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction”   (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDouNtnR_IA   I know of nothing more important to freedom than the right to keep and bear arms...like "freedom", understanding why that right is so important must also be passed to the generations behind us or it will be gone…well; it’s time to stop talking and start doing.   I believe that our education system from kindergarten to graduate school is doing its best to teach our children that “guns are bad”. I believe, and I think we all know that there is a concerted effort in this country to totally ban civilian ownership of guns (all their protestations to the contrary notwithstanding).  I don’t have any children to pass my appreciation of or my understanding of the importance of arms to.  I’ve done my best to help my niece and nephew but I want to do more.   Maybe some of you will join me; in fact, I can’t do this by myself.   My idea is simple, identify families who, except for lack of funds, want to pass a love, respect and appreciation of firearms to their children then provide them with the money to buy a Cricket 22 rifle along with some ammunition. As you can see from this thread  http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/65070-left-attacks-crickett-as-child-porn-etc/ there are already some willing to help but there is more to consider.   First, I’m unsure how to identify a family who really need this help.  Second, is there any legal liability we need to worry about/need to take steps to avoid?  I’m not afraid of being sued but I also don’t want to make it easy for anyone to do so either. J   So…I’m asking for your help; whether you are willing to contribute $$$ or legal advice or help with identifying a need…if someone reading this is in the situation where they would like this help for their child then feel free to contact me by PM; you have my word that I will never release your name as a recipient without your permission.
