  1. What does "unethical" have to do with anything?  Your ethics are just that, YOUR ethics.    I say people should have bought the generators BEFORE the damn hurricane hit and if they were too stupid or lazy do to that then the shame is on THEM.  If I were one of those lazy/stupid people then I'd probably be f*****g ecstatic that I could find a generator to buy at $1,000.   No on is interfering with anything...if the retailers who are trying to hold the line on prices decided to raise there prices to the levels people are apparently willing to pay that would put the "scalpers'" out of business but I'd bet you would then just be pissed of at Wallyworld for making that "unethical" profit.   DEMAND is outstripping supply - until than changes nothing else will; that's not the fault of so-called "scalpers".
  2. Absolutely correct ^^^^ People, including most every TGO member, claims they want "freedom" until something that someone else does that is perfectly legal pisses them off then some of those same "freedom loving people" rush to the nearest computer and start throwing a pity-party.
  3. No, I don't feel guilty at all because the only ammo I've sold in the past three years I sold for under what I paid and I bought it all before the panic buying set it.   Again, if you want to call people out (instead of making vague insinuations) then why don't you REALLY call them out...post the links to all the "scalpers" you believe are here (or do you just like to make unfounded accusations)?
  4. I think I like mine in black...makes it much more "evil" you know. :)   What scope do you have on it and what do you like/not like about it?  Mine is currently naked and I want to put some good optics back on it.  I want something that will work well out to the effective range of the rifle but I also don't want to get crazy as far as price goes either. ;)
  5. Really?  Well, I'm saying it okay to pay the higher prices if people want to do so and I have no ammo for sale and haven't had any for sale in a while...what I did sell last time I had any was left over ammo in  a caliber I didn't own any longer and I sold the lot for less per round than I paid for it.   You seem to be implying that anyone who has ammo for sale is price gouging (or do you just have something against people who sell ammo at any price?)...since you've already looked everyone's post histories and insinuating that those posters are doing something wrong, why not go all the way; name names and provide links to back up your assertions?
  6. I had to look up what "wally walk" meant...I've never done it as I don't shop at Wallyworld (it's against my religion).
  7. Respectfully; that's an assumption and one that can't really be backed up with anything meaningful.   A lot of this angst seems to be centered around Wallyworld...a place I do my best to avoid - if I can't buy ammo or firearm accessories or firearms from my local gun store or online from an firearm/shooting sports website then I'll do without for a while but I won't go to Walmart!
  8. Rather than just complaining about the "scalpers" and how much they are contributing to the problem; how about some actual data to back up the assertions?  Opinions are fine but at the end of the day; not terribly important or meaningful.   I say they are providing a service; they have ammo to sell for people who want to buy it at the price they are asking. Just because you don't like the price doesn't change the fact that for the people who are buying ammo they way they are getting a need fulfilled.   If that is a disservice to the "average ammo buyer"; maybe they shouldn't wait until there is a crisis (real or imagined) and should have been buying ammo all along.  Most people who aren't sheeple understand that storm clouds brewing out there...I can't help but wonder how the sheep dogs area going to protect anybody (including themselves) if a relatively short-term ammo shortage upsets the apple cart as much as it has for some folks...what kind of situation would the "average ammo buyer" be in if there was not more ammo at all???   :panic:
  9. Oh come on...no one is talking about "state" government...the concern is what the FEDERAL government might do that has most people running scared. Besides, Tennessee does not exist in a vacuum...what happens in other states like New York and Oregon scares people in Tennessee too.   Yes, the Congress failed in round one...but the fight is hardly over and multiple congressmen have said so...all they need is the next inevitable "mass shooting" to come back full speed (not to mention multiple EOs that require no congressional approval).  People know that and people are scared and are acting accordingly.  That's why we have shortages of a lot of things right now. You can claim there is no reason for these shortages all you want but "people" get scared and do stupid things all the time and right now they are running scared; logic be damned.   Complaining about it or espousing about how stupid it isn't going to change it; especially doing so here because, while I can't know for certain, I suspect that the people who might benefit from what you are saying don't hang out on firearm related forums.
  10. I say again, if you have a willing seller and a willing buyer and they are not doing anything illegal then I really don't care...maybe it's not "fair" or "ethical" but so what???  There are lot's of things in life that aren't fair and almost everything violates someone's personal ethics sooner or later.    Yes, as ETP said, it's also part of the free market that people can complain, I don't see that doing all that much good but sure, if people want to get upset and try to convince others not to participate in the panic buying that's fine.   Frankly, these "scalpers" as you call them are performing a service...I don't have time to run to Wallyworld every hour or get people to do it for me to buy ammo when they have it...it's not worth my time to go through those gyrations. However, if someone does have the time to do that and I wan't or need the ammo they have then as I see it they have performed a service for me or to use your words, added value to the product.   Thankfully, I've had enough ammo that it's not been an issue for me and I'm as eager for anyone here for ammo to be in good supply and the prices to return to a more normal level. However, if I needed it/wanted it I'd be buying it and if my doing so meant that you felt I was "screwing you" buy buying what I wanted at a price I can afford and am willing to pay...I could live with that.
  11. Well...I don't see the difference.   Once you start throwing around words like "selfish" and "greedy" it's no longer about the free market; it's just about some people being angry about prices and availability. If I buy at "X" price and sell for "Y" price...nothing could be more free market than that.  The fact that the "Y" price is higher than many want to pay is understandable but also immaterial. Anytime there is more demand than supply for anything the price will rise. At some point there will be enough ammo to go around and the prices will drop. Until then we either pay what is being asked or go without but complaining about those who buy now at the higher price is a bit like spitting in the wind.
  12. We'll just have to disagree.   Frankly; if I decided I HAD to have some 22LR right now and couldn't find it through normal channels then I'd be paying the exorbitant prices too because it would be worth it to me. Thankfully; I'm not in that situation but my being able to make that decision for myself is the free market at work.
  13. Yeah...yeah..rub it in. :)   Even if I reloaded I suspect I'd still be buying "factory" as well. Besides, are some reloading supplies (powder, primers, etc) hard to come by as well right now (or am I remembering incorrectly)?
  14. I'm really sorry that happened to you and your family; especially the grandchildren...that's truly awful.
  15. Well...maybe you aren't telling anyone what to do with their money but you seem to be implying that you would like to. ;)   I'm afraid it is the free market. I understand you don't like what's happening and you think it's unfair but it's still free people doing perfectly legal things with their money.
  16. Wow...three pages and no one has called anyone else an idiot yet...I'm impressed! :)   I suggest people carry in the way that is comfortable for them while taking their location(s) into consideration...creating an "incident", even unintentionally, does nothing positive for the gun-owning community at large.
  17. Who are you (or me or anyone else) to tell someone what they should or shouldn't do with their own money?   Are we only in favor of the free market when it doesn't inconvenience us?   If I want to pay $500 for a 20 round box of .22 who's business is that other than mine???   I guess we could have the government to step in and take control...I remember the "WIN" program under Nixon...that really worked well.   :shake:
  18. What does it really matter?  I buy ammo from local gun stores and online but if someone want's to buy ammo from another person and is willing to pay the price why care? It's a willing seller and a willing buyer - isn't that what the free market is supposed to be about?
  19. Unfortunately, there is no law I know of that Carney violated - AFAIK is it not illegal to lie except under oath and we couldn't even impeach the sex-addict for doing that. Carney may well depart the White House but so what?  That's probably a good thing for him and his future.   The mainstream press will be the key here...if they truly start doing their job then there is a chance and maybe we'll get to replace the America-hating socialist with the idiot (I guess that may be an improvement).
  20. Maybe it depends on our respective definitions of "under the bus"...maybe Carney will resign, probably citing his inability to be an effective spokesman because of all the unfair and inaccurate right-wing media coverage and/or to pursue other interests (and wind up as a regular one one of the Sunday talk shows).  ;)
  21. Under the bus???  It's a nice thought but I'll believe it when I see it.   I don't think this country and especially Congress has the stomach to hold anyone accountable for anything today.
  22. To all of you who are fortunate to have your mother still with them and for those who are married to a "mother" I wish you and them a happy mother's day.   This is my first "Mother's Day" without my mom being here.   In the early morning hours last Monday (the 6th) my mom passed away - her funeral was this past Thursday.   Ironically now, both Mother's Day and Father's Day are especially sad as I lost my dad just before Father's Day in 2001.   I was very fortunate to have the parents that I did; not that there were perfect...they were as subject to human weakness and failure as we all are but I never once doubted that I was loved and never once doubted that if necessary, they would have gladly given their lives to save mine. They taught me the value of work...the value of other people...the rewards that come with sacrifice and charity and gave me a love of music and literature.   If you have a mother in your life; be sure to give her an extra hug today!
  23. I know it sounds appealing to do something "in their face" like this armed march but I believe it will be a terrible mistake.   First of all, I think so few will actually show up that it will just look silly and make 2A supporters look small and weak.   Second; one "plant" who is there to make an incident happen and you go from a peaceful march to an ugly mob that has to be quelled...I guarantee you that if "we" use violence or appear to use violence then WE LOSE and the facts won't matter.   Third; I believe the most effective ways to exert pressure is to keep doing what many have been doing and that more need to do which is to stay hard on the backs of all those elected blowhards in DC so they continue to defeat those who want to strip of us of our rights.
  24. I believe that there are better ways to stand up for ALL our rights than being part of this plan.  I'll be doing something constructive on July 4th but it won't be this.
