  1. I really don't care what his thought processes were that night...he was playing an adult game and he won an adult prize. The only things that actually matters are... 1) whether Zimmerman did or was doing anything illegal and/or that justified Martin's attack, and 2) whether Martin's attack was sufficient to justify. If Zimmerman acted illegally or gave Martin sufficient reason to launch an assault on Zimmerman then Zimmerman can't use SD as an affirmative defense. However, if Zimmerman didn't do either of those things then the only remaining question is whether Martin's assault on Zimmerman was sufficient to justify Zimmerman using deadly force...all rest is immaterial.   I'm sure one or both of Martin's parents "loved" him; they may have even tried to "raise him properly" but I don't really care; all I care about is what I stated above.
  2.   Are you being sarcastic or serious DAVES? I'm sort of thinking sarcastic given you voluminous statements about Zimmerman's guilt in other threads.     Then, of course, there is this one you made that makes it sound as if you want Zimmerman's life to be a living hell until one of the Black Panthers knocks him off....
  3. The monitor (which is inside the safe) uses two AA batteries and the unit will alert you when the battery power is getting low. As to the internet equipment having an UPS is a good idea.   In my case however, if power fails I'd just be back to relying on the other alarms in my safe room - the primary alert system for that is a dedicated cell system on a battery backup if power is lost.
  4. That's a great (and very educational) story and I appreciate you sharing it.   I have to admit to being a little concerned for your friend...participating in any sort of altercation like that today is extremely risky; any one of those three guys in that pickup truck could have been carrying, legally or otherwise. Both you and your friend could have easily found yourself outnumbered and outgunned as well. I'm not trying to nit pick at your friend here because I've one or two friends like that and their friendship is worth their weight in gold. It just bothers me to hear of someone doing that because if could have ended very, very badly.   The days of good 'ol boys having a little fist fight and then shaking hands and going home are, I think, behind us...at least where total strangers are concerned.
  5. I don't usually do "product endorsements" but I think this one deserves it.   Last week I ordered "SAFEALERT" through Liberty Safe's website; Mark at the SafeHouse delivered it to me...this is a monitoring system for your safe that is really pretty cool.   You do need wireless internet and there is a monitoring fee but I think it's worth it.  The set-up was very easy; not quite "set it and forget it" but almost. :)   I like it because should anyone actually get to my safe without setting off my alarm system (or a kid, etc perhaps opens my safe door while visiting because I forget that I had it unlocked) it will alert you by email and/or text message that someone has opened or closed the door or if any vibration/movement is detected.  It will also alert for unusual temperature fluctuations inside your safe (such as a fire), and moisture content. In other words, it gives you some precious advance warning if someone may be breaking into your safe or something equally bad is happening. It's about $200 so it's not cheap but what is these days.   Anyway, I just thought I'd pass this along.     http://www.libertysafe.com/accessory-safelert-safe-monitor-ps-17-pg-85.html
  6. I did, yes....I guess I just don't agree that just because a history report isn't perfect means it's unreliable.   People need to do their due diligence; especially before they spend thousands of $$$...if they aren't willing to do that then they deserve the outcome they wind up with. A CarFax report or a report from any other similar service is a tool, it shouldn't be the only one.
  7. Nothing wrong with buying a used car but you can't take anyone quite at face value today.  Any car I buy used is going to have a history run on it and be inspected by my mechanic.
  8. I understand that your/your wife's "accident" was not a big deal but I don't think that a buyer wouldn't want to know about it or shouldn't know about it.   CarFax is an indicator to the buyer that he needs to do some research before he decides if he wants to buy the vehicle. I don't see why that's a problem or a bad thing I also suspect that any of the other services that do the same thing as CarFax would have included your "accident" as well.
  9. No, they sure aren't and yes, Pagans do purchase cars from Christians...I also know some Pagans, and even atheists, who live much more moral lives than many alleged Christians. However, just to be clear, the above was only intended to be a joke. :)
  10. I'd want to know about that "accident" too if I was considering buying that car.  Who caused it is immaterial but I am going to care about just how much "damage" in any was caused. What's wrong with that???
  11. Where from this article do you get the idea that CarFax reports can't be trusted? Frankly, if a bunch of used car dealers are suing CarFax I'm inclined to believe that it's not because CarFax has done anything wrong. Rather, I suspect these dealers don't want their potential customers to know the real history of the vehicles they are peddling...I mean, it's not like a used car sales would ever lie of course but they may not even know the real history! ;)   Unless a consumer does some real investigation he has no way of knowing what a vehicle has really been through and I wouldn't be surprised of some of these dealers are also ones that have been sued for doing things like selling flood damaged cars, etc.   A used car dealer not wanting to use CarFax does not automatically mean they have anything to hide just like that dealer not belonging to BBB is an immediate indication of a problem either but before I buy a used car from a dealer I'm going to want to see its real history and I'm only going to deal with a dealer with at least an "A" rating from the BBB.
  12. Here are the facts as they were related to me...   The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.  The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.  As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.  After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.  He said, ''I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally...I assumed you had stolen the car.''
  13. It is assholes like this that give ammunition (pun intended) to those gun-control nuts that constantly push for restrictions on who can own firearms, sell a firearm, carry a firearm, etc.   i don't know if this idiot has an HCP or not but just think if we had constitutional carry in TN - he could be carrying and sitting next to you in a restaurant with his already demonstrated poor judgment and without ever being taught even the most basic rules of safe gun handling.   Also, he is apparently a very poor shot.
  14. Blagoevich?  My basset hound would make better decisions/votes than either of the present asshole senators representing Tennessee.
  15. I don't believe there is any mechanism to remove a sitting senator; at least none I've ever heard of.   Even if there were I'm sure it would take a vote of the people; the very same people who returned this asshole to office just a year ago.
  16. Is it any more strange that having Hollywood stars like Stallone or Schwarzenegger and others like them who have made millions of $$$ of "action movies" that include them playing bad asses with guns come out against civilian gun ownership?   These hangers-on use military/firearm culture catch phrases because right now, it's "cool"...it's "appropriate" to give lip service to our military, etc...that will pass eventually (just like it was in bad taste to support the military during Vite Nam) and they'll move on to the latest cool phrase of the day.
  17. Make no mistake about it, if this Amnesty bill passes it will forever change our country and its culture...FOREVER. The country we grew up in, what's left of it at this point, will be forever gone.   This bill will add an additional 20 million criminals, I mean, "American persons" (plus millions more once they bring their spouses, children, parents and grandparents here) to the permanent, government-dependent underclass that the left has been building. When our economy collapses, and it's going to, this same government-dependent underclass will be the ones forming gangs and attacking anyone they can to steel what they have; especially any of us smart enough to have tried to prepare for what's coming.   A country that will not secure its borders, its language or its culture is not a country; it's just a geographic region on a map with a name assigned to it.
  18.    Sad?  Really DAVES; REALLY???   I'm confused; where does this concern about Zimmerman getting a fair trial come from? I ask because it seems to be in complete contradiction to what you posted just a few days ago when you said this...     Just a few days ago you've stopped just short of saying that you hoped Zimmerman would be murdered, you know...those "hits"...and now you feign concern about whether he'll get a fair trial???   is this desire for a fair trial based on your belief that, despite your many, many statements to the contrary, you know Zimmerman is actually not guilty and you are concerned that if he gets a fair trial he'll be found not guilty meaning your desire, quoted above, will come true?
  19. Rubio is finished as far as I'm concerned...I wouldn't vote for him for garbage collector at this point and I feel exactly the same about anyone who ends up voting for this traitorous bill.   There is noting truly "broken" about the immigration system and laws we have now except for the simple fact that no one in the federal government wants to enforce the laws we have.
  20. There is always this one...   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8Tiz6INF7I
  21.   Just so I understand...it's your opinion that because these jurors are women, they cannot reach a fair and impartial verdict based on the facts of the case? Is that really the story you want to stick to???? ;)
  22. Remember when I said that if you want to have a "decent discussion" you might want to not make unsupported assertions or ignore questions about them??? I'm still waiting :waiting: for an answer to this assertion...     I'm sure you wouldn't say something like that and not have some data to back it up, right?   Or how about an answer to this question from last night...
  23. Once again, here is the unedited post you erased...     Now you say...    No one was "running you off" except yourself, DAVES; just like you've left (and usually came back) in in other threads.   If you really want to have a "decent conversation" then you might want to refrain form making unsupported assertions; or if you make them, don't get your nickers twisted just because someone questions your basis for them.   And why do you lay into me about "profiling" and saying I should go back and read the 911 log...I've not engaged in your back and forth about profiling at all...maybe you should make your argument to those who were engaged in that discussion.. Speaking of unsupported assertions; who are all these "many others who have left" TGO?
  24. I'm sure Trayvon's father will believe they are profiling!!!  ROTFLMAO
  25. Well, I know you've left the thread but I can't help but ask anyway, really DAVES? We are unfriendly? You come in and make assertions with nothing to back them up and then when people question you about them you either ignore the question and/or accuse us of of being mean or not being smart enough to understand. For those of you who are wandering what post No. 108 says; it says....   I'm not sure why someone wanting to know how to ignore another forum member's posts or telling Andrew how to change his ignore preferences in the forum to accomplish that is some sort of insult to DAVES.   I've got quite a few people on my ignore list and I'm sure I'm on quite a few lists of others; we have the feature in the forum software to use, don't we???.    Who see that coming?
