The content of those calls are unlikely to be helpful to the prosecution; what they actually will likely show and what I'm sure the defense will point out is that Zimmerman did and acted exactly the way that a neighborhood watch member is supposed to act...if they are trying to show him as some depraved vigilaniti looking for someone to murder I believe these calls will show exactly the opposite.

The primary racists involved here were those who forced this to a trial because Zimmerman is a "white-Hispanic" and Martin was "black"...there is no doubt in my mind that had both men been of the same race (both wihte or both black, etc.) this would have ended when the original DA decided that the evidence supported this as a justified SD shooting (or at least that there was not sufficient evidence to show it wasn't a justified SD shooting). I would suggest that the racism (and political correctness) was truly showing when the "shopped for" DA decided not to take this to the GJ (even though it had been scheduled to do so); likely because the DA knew it could easily result in a no bill based on the evidence but then filed the charge of 2md degree murder...other than those who are blind to the evidence I can't find anyone who believes the Zimmerman is actually guilty of 2nd degree murder (yet many seem fine with him being on trial for it anyway! ). Of course, I and others have been accuesd of being racists ourselves becaus I believe the above. ;)

I know this isn't what you asked about but for future reference... I can recommend a very good belt maker "oldfatguy" (no relation). http://www.oldfatguy.com/ He makes belts by hand, to order and even his thinnest belts are more than sufficient to hold up a holstered weapon and the width choices let's you chose what you need to fit most normal pant belt loops. Plus, they are attractive enough that the "uninitiated" won't see any difference between them and a "normal" flimsy belt.

Nashville Area Firearms & Archery Shooters Group

That's intersting...I've been looking at recurve bows recently. I used to shoot a lot as a kid - my great-uncle bow hunted dear and about everything else with a bow in PA and he taught me how to shoot and I've been thinking about it taking it back up! I think I'm going to look these guys up! -
Actually; that makes perfect sense as I've filled out many documents that list "white" as a race and "Hispanic" is a selection under ethnicity. That said, however, I have a suspicion that all the news services, even though today, are calling Zimmerman a "white-Hispanic" not to be precise but rather to serve an agenda of furthering the race bating. After all, it sounds a much more interesting story to get "white" in there when Martin is black that it would to just call Zimmerman an "Hispanic". As to the caliber issue; a .22 can do the job quite nicely too under the right circumstances; that doesn't mean I would want to carry on as a primary EDC weapon. ;)

I'd say he "got the ball rolling" the moment he first spotted Martin and called it in (and I would expect a good citizen to do exactly that whether hs is part of a neighborhood watch group or not) - had he done what most people do he woudl have just ignored it and went to whatver store he was heading to at the time. He could have stayed in his truck and probably shouldn't have gotten out of his truck but the 911 tape of Zimmerman's call indicates he was returning to his truck and if he was, then it's pretty difficult for him to have concurrently stated the physical altercation with Martin and if he didn't start it, it seems pretty clear to me who did. Some seem to think that just because he initially got out of his trurk it's fine and dandy the he go to jail for the rest of his life on Murder 2 (even if they don't think he's actually guilty of Murder 2)...that seems an odd stand to take from my viewpoint but I guess to each his own. Doing something illegal is a reasn to be charged and found guilty; doing something stupid is not and if is is, most everyone on this forum would qualify for some jail time.

There is nothing wroing with opinions and I think everyone understands what an opinion is. However, I don't think it's asking all that much nor is it reasonable (in my opinion :) ) to aske someone to support their opinions. No one is "required" to support their opinion with anything if they don't want to but if that is the stand a person is going to make then they probably shouldn't be surprised or feel "attacked" if others don't agree/rejects their opinion. Rather, they should logically expect that people are qoing to question the validity of their opinion especially if the opinion seems to be in contradiction to what is known about an issue (this or any other). And in a more genearl sense and maybe more to the point, an unsupported opinion/allegation does nothing to foster real discussion. While TGO is not just a discussion forum, I'd submit that fostering discussion is certainly a major part if its reason to exist and if that is true, then I think it's reasonable to ask what kind of discussion can truly be had if all people do is "state opinion"; especially if the opinion is not explained or supported in any way. Of course, all the above is...just my opinion. ;)

A lot has been made about what Georg Zimmerman siad and even didn't say immediately after his self-defense shooting. I've menteioned in this and other threads why a citizen, no matter how justified he was in defending his life, needs to be cautious...very cautious about what he he says to 911 and/or law enforcement and especially so within a short time following the shooting. This article lays out a pretty good plan for what to do... Obviously, this article is pushing you to a particular defense network...I strongly suggest that every one who carries a weapon for self defense have the kind of services these groups offer (there are several to chose from). More importantly, if you don't have at least the office number and hopefully cell phon number of at least a couple of attorneys that you can call when you've been involved in a SD shooting you need to get them! ANY OF US could wind up EXAXTLY where George Zimmerman is today; sitting in a court room defending himself with six or 12 people deciding where he may spend the next 10 years, 20 years or even the rest of his life...take measures NOW so that if it hsppens to you, you have some help available to deal with it.

It might be the first question but being accused of "misleading the court" is not perjury...people can be accused of anything but accusations, like assertions, are worthless without substance behind them. Substance in this instance would be following up the accusation with an actual charge. Given the lack of a charge coupled with the impropriety of Lester, mostly surrounding that bail hearing episode, that the appeals court found questionable enough to removed him from the trial and replaced him; I suspect they didn't charge him because they had nothing that actually constituted perjury. I have no special insight into his or her/their finances but since I have not read anything that would indicate that they were normally flush with cash on a regular basis I presume what cash they had was all tied to the donations coming in to help them with their expenses/defense. I suspect both Zimmerman and his wife were confused by the questions and the whole situation more so than either was trying to get away with anything...had some non-profit group stepped in and agreed to accept donations for Zimmerman's defense fund I suspect the whole thing would have been a non-issue. People donating to his defense fund were donating to his defense fund; not trying to inflate his net worth and push up his bail amount.

Can you offer any insight on whether you believe (or have heard) if Zimmerman will take the stand in his own defense? If you think he will, do you think the accusations about him misleading the court about the money being donated to his defense will be raised by the prosecution to try and ruin his credibility?
-
I don't know that I would have said money being donated to my defense was "my money" or part of "my assets" either, which was part of the questioning. More importantly, GZ did not perjure himself (which probably explains why he isn't charged with perjury). His wife is charged but many feel that the questions she allegedly lied about were so ambiguous that the perjury charge won't hold up (assuming they aren't just dismissed outright). And let's not forget that it was Judge Lester who ended up getting removed because of how he handled that particular situation which the appeals court decided demonstrated a lack of impartiality. But hey; lets just forget what happened and focus on how we feel about it. ;)
