  1. Even if you don't get fat and you keep perfect sight, things start change once you get into your 40s and later...most folks under 40 simply don't understand that or don't want to! It' not just weight because even if you keep yourself in pretty good physical shape there simply are things you either wont' be able to do or just won't be able to do as well at 40 or 50 or 60+ that, when you were 25 or 35 you would have done it without a second thought!  ;)
  2. I ALWAYS change the sights on my Glocks...let's face it, the stock sights that come on Glocks (well, at least the standard ones) are just horrible! :)   Some folks need an extended mag release or slide stop but I've never had any problem manipulating the weapon without making those changes.
  3. Yes, I can see an active shooter situation being a possible exception - ultimately, when faced with a situation we each have to decide what we can do and what is "best" to do but as was mentioned above; my first duty is to myself and loved ones...the friends then other innocent people.   As i like to say when asked why I carry..."because I may need to save someone's life...it my be my life or it may even be your life".
  4. Unlike Obummer, the people who vote for those of his ilk (hate America; the promise of "Obama money" and other free stuff) don't give a rip about the second amendment are are are very likely hostile to it - mot of them would love to see the second amendment go away so if the Democrat promises to "ban all assault weapons" that's music to their ears..   People who vote Republican tend to be at least somewhat "conservative" and support the Constitution even if they don't personally care about the second amendment...add in the people who are true conservatives and who DO care about the second amendment and they are not going to vote for someone who is openly hostile to the second amendment (or other parts of the Constitution) and if the Republican candidate can't get those votes he/she will not win the election,   I would only add that that exception would be if such a Republican candidate could garner enough votes that would usually go to the Democrat but I don't think even Christie could do.
  5. Congratulations on the new family member; he's a great looking pup and I'm sure will be a blessing.   "A dog is the only living thing on this Earth that will love you more that it loves its own life".
  6. My G30 is my primary on-body carry weapon and I use a Crossbreed Supertuck.   I also have an occasionally carry my G21 on-body (although usually it's in a concealed "day planner".   Frankly, I think the G30 is an excellent combination of relatively small size with a lot of firepower and, as Glocks tend to be, about as reliable as you could hope for in a semi-auto pistol.
  7. It's difficult to feel any sadness at this man's passing - he and his congregation sullied the name "Christian" and sowed hate rather than love.   The wonderful and disappointing and ironic thing about Christianity; assuming one is a Christian and believes in the Bible, is that even the worst sinner and horrible person can be saved and spend eternity with God in heaven if he/she accepts Christ as his savior.   It's the human part of us...the part that innately knows "right from wrong" that wants to see the wrongdoer punished - the thought of a nasty, evil man receiving "heaven" doesn't sit right. However, I too agree with the sentiment "pray for his soul".
  8. They (the legislature) don't give a s**t about the money to "take down signs" and in fact, I could guarantee you that cities wouldn't bother to do so even if they got money to do it...outdated signs can already be found at city parks throughout the state. Attaching a "fiscal note" or sending a bill to "summer study" is just the Leadership's way to kill a bill.
  9. Neither is Obama which is probably why he's never and will never release his real birth certificate because I'd be real money that under "race" it says "white".   But I get what you are saying.
  10. I have both bought and sold a couple of firearms that didn't have the factory box and all that came with it but I would have to say that if we are talking about a modern firearm; something likely purchased in the last 10 years or so I'd be surprised if the box and factory stuff wasn't included and would be a little suspicious.   Frankly, there are plenty of Glocks out there to buy...if you have any discomfort at all with the deal then just walk away.     NOTE: I'm talking about pistols mostly...I rarely keep the cardboard boxes for rifles, etc (although I have a couple) and don't usually expect to get a rife in the original box!
  11. I'd say it's a win-win for them either way. If he loses that's great for them; if he wins he isn't going to be much a change from whatever Democrat he beat.
  12. Would anyone have thought a "community organizer" who never held a real job in his life and with some, at best, questionable parentage (not to mention birth records) have been "presidential material"???
  13. Should this legislation reach his desk, I won't be surprised at all if he signs it. Christie is not only not a friend of the second amendment he is pretty much an enemy and if he doesn't sign this legislation it will ONLY be due to potential political backlash which i don't think is enough to keep him from signing it.  He may not be at all worried about the potential lost support if he does sign it because I suspect he is smart enough to realize that most of the votes he would lose he has already lost! NJ after all, is a state that is absolutely NOT a friend of civilian firearm ownership and neither is Chris Christie.   For those who don't think that Christie is still, not just in the running but probably the Republican to beat for the nomination in 2016 I humbly disagree.  I believe he is exactly what the establishment Republicans (the ones in charge of the party) want in a candidate and I expect them to pull out all the stops to see he gets the nomination. Whether he gets the nomination is another matter but I do believe that the establishment and many other "Republicans" still think he is a great leader.
  14. I loved than show when it was on TV originally.  I watched the whole series again in the mid-late 80s on VVHS...I need to watch it again!
  15. Yuup.   Big government control freak Republicans are no more a friend of the Constitution, or individual thought (or liberty) than a big government Democrat...they are all just progressives who think that the government is the answer to every problem (when in reality it's usually the cause of the problem).
  16. Of course he did...I was at the TFA meeting when he said it. But I don't believe it because he and his Dark Side cohorts are not going to let any bill reach his desk that he doesn't want to sigh (whether it's "firearms related" or not). So...it's easy to make promises to do something when you'll never have to do it. :)
  17. I suppose mine is pretty self-explanatory; it's me and my basset hound and I love the pic.   My sister took it this past Christmas; I had just sat down in their brand new leather easy chair and Wally decided he wanted to be in my lap so a few seconds after I sat down, Wally jumped into my lap!
  18. Frankly, one of the first duties of a armed citizen is to avoid an armed conflict and if my "targets" are 50 or 80 or 100yards away then why the hell would I be sticking around and engaging in a gun fight at those distances with a pistol???   If you can get out then you GET OUT...if you can't retreat...if you are really stuck and have no choice then you do what you have to do with what you have but I would say that most of the talk about self defense shooting at longer distances is really not much more than a academic discussion; not a very likely real life scenario.
  19. I really don't see how this has any more chance of passing than any of the other firearm related bills this session.   It certainly won't hurt to contact the above folks as well as your own senators/reps (if yours isn't already among those listed above) but the problem...the roadblock is Haslam, Harwell and Ramsey...any bills they don't want to reach the floor for a vote won't; they'll get regulated to a committee, sent to "summer study" or killed with a fiscal note.
  20. I think you are being a little disingenuous and painting with too broad a brush.   Some on the left and some of the homosexual community may "want to destroy the nuclear family" but that hardly means that a majority want to.  I would suggest that while homosexual activists may hate and despise the "traditional" family, and marriage, the trouble makers no more speak for the majority of homosexuals or the left than the Westboro Baptist Church speaks for most  Christians.
  21. I don't know but a large crowed gathering to jeer at and disrupt his funeral would certainly be a little poetic justice I would think.   Then again; I find disrespecting a funeral to be a pretty disgusting thing to do regardless of who is being buried so I don't plan to do so.
  22. No...I watch that sometimes but I only have a finite amount of time I'm willing to devote to TV. :)
  23. I'm not enjoying this season at all; not because it isn't well done, or well written or well acted; it is well done, well acted and well written...it's a hell of a show but the damn show depresses me every week.   I know...I know...such may be the "reality" (if you can use that word in a zombie disaster show) of things just getting worse and worse but I'm not sure I want to keep watching it. In a disaster scenario, one thing people need at least as much as water, food, shelter and each other is hope...I don't see any real hope in this show or in its characters anymore.
  24. I'm neither happy or sad but I won't miss him or his hatred and I suspect the world will be a better place once he's assumed room temperature.
  25. And THAT is why we're in this mess. Sorry if the truth hurts. Lp   What "mess" is that?   Are people or businesses free to express themselves or not express themselves ("take a stand" or "not take a stand") only if they hold the same opinion on an issue as "us"?   Do such concepts as liberty and freedom only apply to the those holding the "right opinion"?   That's kind of what it sounds like around here sometimes.
