We have and there is a reason why this nutcase has been booted off every legitimate firearm forum; including this one. Time for this thread to be closed I think....this guy doesn't deserve the wast of elections it takes to talk about him
-
Really? You must be reading a different thread than I am. In any case, since you seem to be insinuating that you are the one sole among us without fear, perhaps you could regale us with tales of some of your exploits in beating back "the man" and his infringements on our rights???
-
There is no point in doing what you suggest. I really don't care if he's a "nice guy" or a "good neighbor"...I am convinced that his motives have nothing to do with "firearm rights" and everything to do with getting himself in the news and a payday at the end of a lawsuit. If some here want to ascribe lofty goals to his idiocy they are free to do so, I will not. Even if his motives were pure and even if he hasn't broken any laws, his acts are reckless and do not enhance our rights in TN; rather, they provide fodder for gun-grabbers as a poster child for those who are irresponsible with firearms.
-
Who exactly is being a coward? Do you think walking down a city street in body armor and an AR is being brave or "fighting" for anything (other than attention)? From the standpoint of our laws we are where we are...bitching about them or pulling incredibly stupid stunts like this only harm, not help that situation. There is a way go effect change, this kind of idiocy is not it (not that changing it is his motivation).

Think it can't happen in our country?
RobertNashville replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As I recall, there were some good (and some not so good) proposals from Republicans during the Obama/Pelosi/Schumer's rush to give us socialized healthcare but all those proposals were non-starters because the Democrats didn't need a single Republican vote to pass whatever they wanted. There are problems in our health care system/health care insurance system that needs to be addressed; most of which can trace the roots of the problem back to some form of government intervention, but it could have been solved in a good way rather than socializing us with a Canada-style system. I sort of doubt that "healthcare" would even have been discussed under McCain as it was an issue near and dear most to Obama and Pelosi and the Democrats; more likely, it would never have come up...that wouldn't have addressed the problems we have but nothing would have been far better than something in this case. I had some ideas for changes that I think would have been good (although my libertarian friends would not have liked them)...essentially we needed to get both government AND employers out of the health care insurance business and put the provider and the payee back together again but, because government has been involved for so long, it would have to be done over time and with some "government requirements" (which is where I'd lose the libertarians :) ). -
I think you give this idiot far too much credit; although it wouldn't be measurable without a microscope I'd have at least a touch of respect for him/his motives if he actually were an anti-gun nut trying to erode ourability to carry...no...I believe he is just a news hound who like the attention and is hoping to score that one, big lawsuit to fund his retirement.

I don't think we have time left either; the train has left the station and is heading full-steam for the ravine where the bridge is out. -
IIRC this is the first time he's actually been arrested and charged with something (otherwise he wouldn't be facing a bond to get out of jail)...so...maybe he didn't research enough? TMF had it right, his actions here is akin to the proverbial yelling fire in a crowded theater when there is no fire - the right to "free speech" has limits; so does the right to keep and bear arms as does every other right; even the right to life.
-
There is no effective difference between "everyone should be free to live where ever they choose" and "we don't need to have things like states and countries. A country that has no true border, no true national language and no true culture is not a real country at all; it's just a region on a map with a meaningless name. I can think of nothing more anti-American than not enforcing our borders and rewarding those who who violate our borders and I don't really care what political expediency is behind it.

Right now, in Tennessee we DO have to seek permission. Carrying a loaded firearm on our person in public is a privilege under current law and we all need to remember that because if we don't remember that then we may do stupid things like this retard that gets the privilege further restricted. I understand that the right to keep and bear arms is a RIGHT but in Tennessee; that right is not recognized; at least not really...it's going to take time and effort to restore the rights we are supposed to have but idiotic stunts such as those under the subject of this thread will NOT help us at best and likely only be to our detriment.

If Paul is now the leader he is leading someplace I will not go. Being a proponent of any sort of amnesty for 20 million (and likely more) criminals is a position I can not and never will reconcile with; it is an anti-American as burning the flag or pissing on Washington's grave. Supporting such a loathsome, RINO political hack as Alexander shows me Paul is just as out of touch...just as loathsome as Alexander. When the time comes I'll be sending money to Paul's opponent(s)...he needs to go.
-
The only thing this country needs less than a Senate or House full of Alexander types is a Senate or House full of Pelosie types (I'm not all that sure there is a measurable difference). Even with a minority in the Senate the Republicans could effect some positive change if we didn't have so many Alexander types already there...having a majority of Alexander types won't change their voting; if they can't vote the right way now they never will. If that's his short game it's a lousy one and one that can only kill what's left of our country more quickly. I will not vote for the man (should he ever run for an office I will be voting in) nor will I vote for Alexander even if he is the Republican nominee.

I tend to judge people not just on motives but on their actions (and the results of their actions). I don't believe he's reached any sort of a breaking point...I don't believe he's angry...I don't believe his motives are anything more than getting attention (and maybe a fat, juicy lawsuit against someone to fund his retirement). He's a narcissist; perhaps he's deluded himself into thinking he's doing this for some higher, self-sacrificing purpose but I don't buy it. I have had the misfortune of meeting him and I don't buy his "I'm trying to help" act. However, regardless of his motives; his actions are idiotic and have done nothing good for the firearm community/those who value our right to arms. Whether they have any lasting negative repercussions on the pro-2A community or not is difficult to tell but I can't imagine anything positive that has come from scaring people and tying up police who have to respond to his stupidity.

Good motives???? :screwy: If Leonard Embody is a "gun advocate" then I'm an flying unicorn. The only thing Embody is an advocate of is getting his name in the news and I suggest he has a serious mental condition that needs to be evaluated. RESPONSIBLE gun owners and true advocates for our unalienable right to arms DO NOT BLATANTLY break the law nor do things that may be just shy of breaking the law just to get our names in the news.

What the heck is up with Rand Paul? While he backed off of the Gang of Eight Amnesty plan he seems intent on rewarding 20Million or more criminals with amnesty and now he seems solidly on the Lamar Alexander reelection bandwagon...has he lost his mind or has he just hid some of his true convictions (or lack of) from us??? Aside from his voice being used in Lamar's "I saved fishing below the dams" commercial now he's come out and said he hops that Lamar doesn't have to face any primary challengers. Is there some virus going around Washington DC that turns Republicans with convictions into to RINO hacks?

Think it can't happen in our country?
RobertNashville replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Who knows...we might have gotten some real healthcare insurance reform that made a positive difference. McCain is enough of a political animal that he likely would have at least gone along with a decent idea had it been presented to him (but I doubt he would have spearheaded anything like that). Most of us know we have some serious problems with how healthcare is delivered and especially how it's paid for; it needs some reform - just not s government takeover. -

Think it can't happen in our country?
RobertNashville replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah; well...considering the approval ratings and even worse economy then than now, Republicans should have been able to exhume Richard Nixon, throw some makeup on him and run him and win the 2012 election but enough people stayed home that the socialist who wanted to fundamentally transform America (and just about has) is still in the Oval Office (except for when he's on one of his $100 Billion dollar vacations. Right now, until the end of September, Republicans in the house have the real ability (and probably the last chance) to stop Obamacare...the last real nail in the coffin of the country formerly known as The United States of America; the last step before it becomes just another socialist democracy. Once that is implemented there will be no turning back. What are the Republicans doing? Most of them are too damn scared of not getting reelected to do not only what they know is the right thing to do but in many cases, were elected because they specifically promised to stop Obamacare. Someone tell me again what difference which party being in power actually makes? Will Democrats sweep the 2014 elections? Probably not; but I'd bet they'll make significant inroads. I really don't care which party gains in 2014 nor do I believe it will make any difference because nothing will stop the financial collapse from coming (unless something other than financial kicks it off first). -
Think it can't happen in our country?
RobertNashville replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not only can it happen here but I'm convinced that it will happen here...the only real unknown for me at this point is "when". That's one of the reasons, as I've shard in some other threads, that "who" runs or gets elected in 2014 or beyond is really immaterial at this because it's too late to change that. Our currency is backed by nothing except a promise to pay but we can't pay...we can't even limit our spending to our tax revenues. Between spending over 140% percent of revenues and monetizing our debt it's a house of cards that must collapse -
How do you hide gun/or accy purchases from the wife or GF?
RobertNashville replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
I really wouldn't give a damn what a girl friend thought; unless you have a ring and a date your finances are none of her business. If I have a wife I needed to "hide" things like that from then something is very wrong somewhere. -
Well, seems like they tried it the way people here seem to want and it didn't work and in fact, made the problem worse. Land owners can hunt hogs pretty much to their heart's content on their our land, so it's not as if they can't be hunted at all And unless I misunderstand the rules, if I own land and I want to let someone hunt hogs on it for me I can do that too, right (at least up to some specific number of people)? I suppose I'd have more sympathy for those who want to hunt them if they were legitimate game; i.e. existed here naturally, but as I understand it, the only reason these hogs exist is either by accident and/or because some people purposely released hogs into the wild so they could hunt them...that's not legitimate game to me. Since the current law only restricts hunting on public lands this just doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
