  1. I'm agree. Frankly, the entire concept of "marriage" comes from religion predates the United States by at least a few thousand years and in many countries, it is the "church"; not the government, who defines what is and isn't "marriage" and the church is the only vehicle through which people can marry each other. Government truly does have no place in it and I would submit that the only reason it does is because it's a means of control (through the tax code) and a means of at least some revenue.
  2. I think you are taking things out of proportion here. We have the right to enjoy our homes and be secure in our persons and not be subject to "unreasonable" search and seizure...we do not have the "right" to do anything we want with/to anyone we want just because we do it on our "private property" or in our bedroom for that matter. To continue the example he gave, incest is against the law and for damn good reasons...just because the sex is happening inside my home doesn't protect me from being charged with a crime or from having the police break down my door to arrest me if they have just cause and/or a warrant to do so.
  3. Oh yeah they still do business with WalMart (well, at lest some doe)...those who continue doing business usually survive by supplying substandard merchandise so that they can meet WalMart's ridiculous stipulations. When they do that WalMart makes money; the supplier/manufacturer makes money and the customer gets f**k*d. The other way it usually happens is that the supplier either eventually stops playing WalMart's game or the supplier goes bankrupt. The company I was consulting for was one of the oldest companies in existence...its world-wide name recognition was only slightly below Coke...they went bankrupt trying to meet WalMart's demands. They would provide a $2M order of machines to WalMart and Walmart would deduct $300K from the invoice before paying for garbage issues (order arrived late/order arrived early/wrong color box/upc code an eight of an inch off from required/wrong shipper used, etc. etc. I once got over a $1M back from WalMart for deductions they took for orders arriving late...I got it back because on those orders, WalMart dictated who the shipper had to be (you can't dictate who does the shipping and then cry foul when the shipper screws up). Even then, it took WalMart over 6 months to pay back the money they basically stole from the company I was representing. This aint Sam Walton's WalMart and I don't deal with Rattle Snakes.
  4. Well; all politicians have to have pretty big egos just to put themselves out there but I think RP may be a bit more egocentric than others. I tend to believe that deep down, RP knows he can't win (in fact there was even a recent interview where he stated, and I"m paraphrasing here, that he can't really "see himself in the White House"...seeming to indicate that he doesn't really think he can win). Then there is also his refusal to rule out a third party run. Third party candidates don't win Presidential elections so to me, if you can't win the nomination of your party and given the total failure of a third party bid for the past 100 years or so, about the only logical reasons to run for President third party is either revenge or an ego trip...RP doesn't hit me as a vengeful person so that leaves ego. Of course this is all opinion/observation/supposition...what the hell do I know about it! I wasn't really talking about RP at all with that statement and I applaud him running; rather, I was referring to all the armchair quarterbacks that always moan about not having good choices but do nothing themselves to change it. I have listened to RP...I like his positions on many issues; but not on some big issues (issues big for me that is)...and while he isn't who I support, if he gets the nomination I'd have no problem voting for him. What I find distasteful as those who are so enamored with him that they say they won't vote at all or will vote third party if he doesn't get the nomination...to me me, that is reckless and shows a lack of regard for the country.
  5. Actually, RP will be out of the race long before 10 months go by (unless of course he does run third party to boost his ego). Of course once he is out or once he loses a third party bid for President then all the threads will be about how he wasn't treated fairly by the press, etc., etc. and all the other excuses used over the years for why he never wins the nomination.
  6. Actually I do know that; I was trying to make a joke but just realized that I forget to add smiley face.
  7. The problem with endorsements is that anybody can endorse anybody. I suspect that if some mas murdered endorsed Ron Paul, there wouldn't be any RP robots out here proclaiming the fact. When I'm personally dealing with someone I don't know but a friend I have great respect for "endorses" that person to me; that means a lot...when it's some bureaucrat or political hack or some entertainer endorsing a politician; it's less than useless IMAHO.
  8. Actually, WalMart offers a lower price because they treat their suppliers like s**t and no, that isn't just opinion on my part; I've seen what they do to their major suppliers up close and personal...dealing with WalMart is like trying to cuddle up to a rattle snake except the rattler isn't as underhanded.
  9. That explains a great deal. --------------moving on--------------- Frankly; I'm getting more than a little tired of all the people who complain constantly about how bad our choices are election after election while doing NOTHING to change it. If people want better candidates than those who chose to run the they should damn sure get out there and run for office themselves. While I'm on my soapbox; I'm also getting more than a little tired of all the threads touting Ron Paul...it seems as if there is a new thread about how wonderful he is almost everyday. I find it odd that most other people don't feel the need to come onto this site and promote "their" particular candidate so why do RP maniacs feel the need to do so???
  10. Can't imagine what "something else" you would be referring to???
  11. Let me know when you are ready to part with it!
  12. Who really cares about endorsements? I hope people don't make their decisions about any candidate based on who has or hasn't endorsed them!
  13. I've never had a problem at my local Waffle House - I'm always armed, sometimes openly but mostly not. No one has ever said a negative word to me about my weapon. That said, I don't think anyone will mistake me for a gang member!
  14. I would just chime in that while dedicated "tactical" shotguns are great (I have a Benellie super nova tactical) almost any shotgun that you have can be used as a good defensive shotgun and don't cost that much if you have to go buy one. For me, my primary defensive weapon is a FN Scar light that I have set up specifically for home defense but as noted above I still have a good reliable pump 12ga in my bedroom!
  15. It seems to me you are assuming that the country can survivor another four years of Obummer should the R candidate, whoever that turns out to be, not win. I see us in either total economic collapse by the end of another four of Obummer or too close to the ledge to be pulled back by anyone at that point. I WILl vote for any R against Obummer for that reason
  16. A third party candidate...any third party candidate is not a "real choice". I'm sick and tired of holding my nose too but we DO have a at least one Conservative candidate left in the race and if enough people support him we can have a decent Republican ticket...it wont' be perfect ticket but no ticket ever has been or ever will be. None of the candidates left are my first choice...for that matter, neither my first, second or third choice even ran; but any of the ones left (with the possible exception of Huntsman) would be a hell of a lot better than the coward in chief socialist dictator want-a-be traitor currently occupying the White House. I'm tired of holding my nose from all the s**t coming out of Obummer's administration and, while you may not "consider a vote for a 3rd party Ron Paul as a vote for Obama" that is precisely what it is...if you want Obama to get a second term than voting for anyone but the Republican candidate will get it for you.
  17. True and I know he's been running as a Republican for a very long time. What I'm trying to say; probably poorly, is that while he may consider himself a Republican and runs as Republican; a lot of his positions are very "libertarian" - I suspect, if he though it would be meaningful, that he would at least consider a run as a "L". I think he knows, however, that running on a Libertarian ticket is about the same as not running in terms of actually winning.
  18. What I think RP is trying to do is become President and he sees that running as a Republican is the most expedient way to make that a reality. Then again, he said just recently that he can't really see himself in the oval office which causes me to wonder just what the hell he is running for??? I don't know if he IS a Libertarian or not but it seems to me that many or his views align with a libertarian viewpoint than the do with either a Republican or a conservative one. As for libertarians getting respect; the respect they get is mostly a result of their views...some of the libertarian positions are good...they resonate with many; on the other hand I think other positions are simply unworkable and don't and never will resonate with a majority of people.
  19. I can understand why someone with only a passing interest in firearms would buy from a store like WalMart but why would a firearms enthusiast buy from them rather than support local gun stores???? Even if it means that I pay a little more for it; I rather buy from someone that truly supports the firearm community than some big box store who's only concern is making a sale...if we want them to be around for the long term then we had better support our local vendors...just saying.
  20. It may seem like a no brainier yet I'm hearing a lot of folks, including on this forum, who say thy will either not vote or will vote for Obummer if RP or whoever their favorite candidate is, doesn't get the nomination. I hope you are right about RP not running third party but its looking more and more to me as if RP is simply on a ego trip and if so he may well refuse to accept rejection. Another reason I think that is because it seems to me that sinc RP is actually a libertarian he is simply using the Republican structure and if that doesn't pan out he will have nothing to lose by running third party.
  21. It's immaterial who the R nominee is. If its Ron Paul, I don't believe he can win against Obummer...if its anyone but Ron Paul who gets the nomination then RP is going to pick up his marbles like a little school and run third party; again, assuring an Obummer win.
  22. I am for less laws but some are necessary and I think this one is one of those. Let's be clear...while I can't "prove" I suspect that the actual number of people who routinely vote/want to vote and who don't already have a government issued photo ID is VERY small so the so-called burden just isn't there IMAHO. I mean really; how many people can even survive in society today without already having a photo ID??? How may people truly can't afford the cost (especially since it's possible to get a free one)? Also, people, such as the elderly, can still vote absentee and they don't need to worry about this law at all. It is unfortunate that the wonderful DMV is the issuing establishment for all this but if I can wait in line and deal with incompetent people to get my DL or my HCP then surely people who don't already have one can deal with it to get an ID to vote. Unfortunately; we have millions of illegal aliens in this country and documented cases of voter fraud with a justice department totally unwilling to prosecute - until that changes, laws like this are needed to secure the integrity of the voting process. Either that or we have to go back to paper ballots and hand counting!
  23. Because Democrats don't want illegals to carry a firearm but they DO want them to vote (both early and often).
  24. Chasing after them AFTER he already being shot AND with no firearm of his own(apparently) seems incredibly stupid to me...but it's his life to risk! Got to hie the guy some credit for an iron will if nothing else.
  25. No...motorcyclists vs bicyclists vs motorists (trucks, cars, etc.). We also haven't had a good 1911 vs "whatever" for a while!!!
