  1. I certainly had my run-ins with him. Some of his posts made me think he wasn't operating on all cylinders...some of them I found truly dangerous. I don't know if he is truly an anarchist or just portrayed himself that way to get a rise out of people but I don't think we need people of that mindset on the forum (there are plenty of forums out there that welcomes such opinions). We have a Constitutional republic precisely to make armed rebellion unnecessary.
  2. I find gun shows to be entertaining and usually a good place to see a lot of different firearms in one place. However, I would never buy a firearm there unless I was dealing with a dealer (or private party) that I already knew and had a relationship with. Prices are prices and that's true no matter who you are buying from...as has already been said, the best way to know if you are getting a fair price is to know ahead of time what the firearm is worth!
  3. Got you beat by three years The voting age (26th amendment) lowered the voting age to 18 in 1971 and I turned 18 in 1972 just in time to vote in that year's presidential election...I had to vote absentee a few times while I was floating around the Med or the North Atlantic but I've never missed a November election of the only primaries I've missed (two or three) were those where nothing was being decided that I cared anything about.
  4. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people in good 'ol Tennessee who think the same way as folks in the "blue states". They definitely are a majority but they are most certainly here. You leave socialists like BHO and his ilk in charge (or in our schools) for very long and we in the U.S. can lose our rights just like the UK; Just like Canada, Just like Australia (to name but a few) and once the rights of the individual to own, much less carry, a firearm are gone the kind of thinking evident in this story won't be far behind.
  5. This all (the above) may be true but ANYTHING Alex Jones puts out should be ignored unless there are at least 3 additional, independent sources that are totally above reproach. Barack Obama is probably the biggest lair on the planet and I'd believe him before anything Alex Jones says.
  6. Yeah...it happened in Canada but does anyone here truly doubt that there aren't plenty of "officials" who would do the exact same thing here if they could? If memory serves, we've already had children expelled expelled for drawing a picture of a gun or using his "hand" as a gun; arresting the parents for such horrible behavior is not difficult to imagine. God help us.
  7. This is purely my opinion but I care for displays of the flag on clothing; I DO wear a "flag pin" on the lapel of my sport coats, suits, etc but that's pretty much as far as I go. I don't mean to imply that anyone who does wear a flag on their hat, etc. is disrespectful to the flag nor that they are trying to be; I'm sure their intentions are good, I just don't do it.
  8. I may be wrong but when they "revisited" that couple; didn't the couple indicate that they were at least "re-thinking" their no-guns/no protection policy? Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part; hoping that what are probably decent folks acquire some common sense!
  9. I'll offer my $0.02 (even though may not think it worth that much) I sort of doubt that NatGeo is seeking to make fun of preppers for entertainment purposes; I suspect they are dealing with the subject of "prepping" because that subject IS a hot topic; by that I mean that there are enough "normal" people now who are preparing (for whatever) that other "normal" people are taking notice, asking questions, etc. I also suspect that as is often the case, those who agree or even seek to be on TV (on any given subject/issue) are often not representative of the group they claim to represent! If that's so then NatGeo is simply picking from a gene pool that is already contaminated with folks that aren't necessarily the best to chose from.
  10. Paper clip? Humm...I wouldn't think it strong enough??? However, there are other things one can use (unfortunately, duck tape won't do it this time) besides the included take down tool...but I agree with rcman2010; with my Pro CDPII the only thing I didn't like was cleaning it and having to use the tool to field strip it.
  11. Yeah...Reagan didn't win the nomination on his first run but yes, in 1980 he had no problems. In fact this is interesting... And, fortunately or unfortunately, I don't have to read history books about it because I lived it...voting for Ronald Reagan twice was an honor but more importantly, it was great to fell GREAT about the United States and feel great about being an AMERICAN again - Ronald Reagan made us believe all the great things they taught us in school about our country (and which unfortunately they don't seem to teach any more). I don't mean to imply that RR was perfect but unless you lived through the Nixon then the Ford then the Carter years you just cannot know what it was like.
  12. If RP supporters aren't "liked" it's likely because their usual tactic, when they can't win someone to their point of view, is to insult/attack anyone who doesn't share their vies. As to this "documented voter fraud"...I doubt it. Even were it true, Alex Jones is, among other things, is a 9/11 truther...I'd believe Obummer 10 times over before anything AJ has to say about...well...anything.
  13. I can't speak for everyone but when I state that "he can't win"; it's an observation, not a criticism of or an objection to him. I support Santorum and I've been giving his campaign money even when anybody would would said (me included) the he probably couldn't win; at least based on his dismal numbers at the time. I've been feeding Santorum money (and was giving two others as well) because of all the ones running initially; he was one of the three I decided I could support...once the primary is over, I'll vote for the last man standing because defeating the socialist IS the only thing that truly matters as far as the picking the next president is concerned.
  14. I suggest you need to re-read I didn't call YOU and internet expert and I didn't call YOU insane. What I DID day was that you were regurgitating the stuff that other internet experts were saying. The "insanity" comment was also not directed at you, at least not specifically, but at the practice of RP's supporters spouting these same tired, worn out arguments - arguments that are no more valid today than were the other two times he's run for President...RP supporter's need to get some new arguments because these are worn out. I'm not bring any media argument to any table...I'm stating my OPINION based of a few decades of observing politics, politicians, candidates and primaries and in particular, Ron Paul. Thanks in advance for your promise of not responding to anything else I cay but I predict you will anyway just like I predict Ron Paul will not win the nomination, much less the Presidency.
  15. Your response is typical of the the kind of Ron Paul supporter that is his biggest obstetrical to getting traction; when you can't bring people to your way of thinking you start attacking people. Attacking those who don't accept your opinions is the quintessential response when you have a week argument - insulting me by claiming that I'm some sort of controlled, media-fed robot who can't think for myself not only does nothing to advance your argument, it shames you (or at least it should). You know nothing about me and even if you did, you have no right to insult me. All the opinions you keep throwing at people is wishful thinking. Ron Paul WILL NOT WIN the Republican nomination; he won't even win his home stat's primary (in fact he'll likely finish last). I can't bet since it's illegal in Tennessee but if I'm wrong about him winning the nomination I'll come back here and say so.
  16. I doubt that but then again, I consider him and Gengrich to be the worst 2 of the 4. That said, I don't believe Romney is a socialist or that he hates this country or that he wants to drive the country into bankruptcy/turn it into a Greece all of which I DO believe Obummer wants. More importantly, while there would likely be decisions I disagree with, I believe Romney, Santorum, Geingrich and Paul are men who will at least try to make the best decisions for the country - whereas you can only count on Obummer to make the best decision for himself.
  17. I've never said democrats wouldn't vote for Ron Paul...I know quite a few good, conservative Democrats who would but it's because they are planning on voting for ABO; not becasue RP would be the Republican nominee and with one exception, none of them that supported Obummer first time around. I'll say this for you, you do a good job of regurgitating all the Ron Paul party line and other internet experts; it's the exact same garbage I've heard every time RP has run (you have heard haven't you that do the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is a working definition of insanity?). You can keep telling yourself (and anyone else who will listen) this stuff but it's so much pie in the sky thinking that I'm stunned that the world isn't drowning in meringue.
  18. He'll never get the chance; in fact it's very doubtful that he'll even win the primary in his home state let alone the nomination...I've nothing against the man or about 90% of his positions on issues but he simply isn't pulling enough support to get anywhere...he's within a couple of percentage points of where he's always been every time he's run; I don't see thatchanging.
  19. I wouldn't have any trouble voting for RP as the nominee but of the three candidates I've donated to this year, only one is still in the race so that's who I'll be voting for in the primary. Come November I'll be punching the button for whoever is the Republican nominee...the country simply can't afford another BHO term and ANYBODY running for the Republican nomination is far, far better than the current socialist in chief.
  20. I'd simply suggest that you tell them how you feel (respectfully of course)...and keep it short and to the point. All I'm saying is something like.... I'm writing to encourage you to vote in favor of this bill and to move it forward so that the full legislature can have a chance to vote on it...that it's important and necessary that I be able to defend my life while traveling to/from work and the places I stop in-between and to do so using the best tools available, including a legally owned and carried firearm. What's really important here is that they know you want the bill passed and for them to get an idea of just how many people want it passed. If you are writing to someone and you aren't a constituent then it's unlikely they'll read it BUT many legislators do have admins keep a running total of how many emails/calls come in and whether they are pro/con on a particular measure.
  21. From a friend of mine in the TFA: "Below is the link to the sub-committee that holds the fate of HB3560 the Employee Safe Commute in its hands. These 7 individuals hold the life of this bill in their hands. The first step is to get it out of the sub-committee. Please email and call every member of this committee and have five of your friends do the same. Respectively ask them to support this bill and tell them why you think they should Together we can make a difference." http://www.capitol.t...b-consumer.html These are the senators that we need to target with RESPECTFUL emails and phone calls to voice support for the bill because if it doesn't make it out of committee it's done. Concentrate first on those senators who are YOUR senator but all should be contacted. It is mostly big business, including but not limited to FedEx, Bridgestone/Firestone and Nissan North America that is opposed to this bill. If you want this measure to become law, as it has in other states, get busy. If you don't want it that's fine; you can contact them too but I'm done arguing about it.
  22. Thanks for all the input...not sure what I'm going to do yet but that's okay; I'm not in that big of a hurry to decide.
  23. A vote for Ron Paul instead of Obama would be a vote taken from Obama if (and that's a big if) one can be absolutely sure the person would otherwise vote for Obama...the positions and values between those two people are so significant that I find it difficult to believe that any significant number of current RP supporters once supported Obama. So, unless you have some significant and verifiable numbers to substantiate your assertion, I find the assertion highly unlikely. Ron Paul may or may not be able to beat Obama in a head to head election and assuming that such polls would be true on a state by state basis but polls have shown the same with all four Republican candidates at least at one point. However, Ron Paul will not win the nomination, he won't even carry his home state in the primary, so whether he could or could not beat Obama is moot. Respectfully, if you want to vote for RP, even as a write-in in the general election/third-party, etc., that is certainly your prerogative but doing so will not beat Obama and will much more likely only serve to return Obama to office.
  24. I wonder, wouldn't normal cleaning take care of that or would cleaning such a laser require something special? I suppose what I'm looking for is a supplement to my aging eyes it doesn't have to be an internal laser or any type of laser for that matter; just looking for some "help" with fast target acauisition. I keep a weapon mounted light with a laser on two of my Glocks when neither is in a holster but of course; that doesn't work when I'm carrying...maybe I just need to buy yet another holster that will accept my WML & L combo. Maybe I need to just do the CT Lasergrips for my Glock 31...not exactly what I was looking for but I think they would do the job without the potential downfalls!
  25. Good points; but I don't think it's going to help anyone feel better about $5/gallon gasoline.
