Does it really surprise anyone that we have a less than perfect government run system? We need to do away with background checks altogether or at the very least, we need a MUCH better way to handle the process.

Respectfully, anyone who thinks it makes no difference who is president or who "hates Romney" and will never vote for him needs to reexamine his thouhgs. I don't know that anybody can even save us from the destination we are heading toward. I DO know that Obama will put rocket boosters on the vehicles that will get us there. Obama has to be defeated OR WE HAVE NO CHANCE AT ALL. Obama has given us more debt in 3 years than W gave us in eight...we have $1.6 TRILLION deficits to infinity. Obama bypasses congress with executive orders and czars because the congress won't rubber stamp his agenda. Obama and his policies can destroy our economy with a debt load that exceeds our GDP - our currency will become worth less than the paper that it's printed on and world markets will stop trading in U.S. Dollars...we'll beg for gasoline when we can get it and we'll long for the days when it was "only" $6/gallon.Our economy; hell, our very existence is dependent on energy which means oil...cut us off from that; either physically or due to purchasing power and this country is finished. Whatever isn't destroyed when the economy collapses will be taken care of by the courts...after Obama stacks the lower courts with socialist judges and puts two or three more Kagans on high court - every single gain we've had (you know, such as the two recent pro-second amendment decisions and a few lower court decisions) will be as good as dead. There will effectively be no second amendment protection anymore - Obama and his cronies will find a way to take our guns from us just like England...just like Canada....just like every socialist country. If America is very lucky, it will still "exist" but be relegated to the status of a France or England; a super power turned into a super has-been and "remember when...". Obama has to be defeated OR WE HAVE NO CHANCE AT ALL.

If you really think Kerry would have been a better president that "W" then I'd like to try whatever pharmaceuticals you were one because they must have been good ones. Bush senior was a decent man; "W" was also a good, decent man but I wouldn't classify either of them as good presidents (certainly not the worst either)...both "W" and senior were big-government, big-spending Republicans. Whatever Romney's failings...no matter how much anyone thinks they shouldn't bother to vote, or should just vote for Obama or vote for a third-party/write in candidate I would simply ask you to think again. If Obama has a second term whatever is left of our republic and especially our second amendment rights will be gone. It's just that simple. Whether he does it by completely bypassing Congress (as he's been doing) or he does it by the two or three supreme court justices he will get to appoint, Obama will destroy the country and our rights. If a drunk, hamster was running on the Republican ticket it would be better for the country to elect the hamster than to return Obama to office.

If you truly think that's what's being said then you either don't want to understand or aren't capable of understanding what is actually being said. But it's okay, you are still in America so you can be as wrong as you want to be.

I don't really believe that people here are hoping for race riots. However, I do believe that there is clearly a segment of the "black" population in this country who are truly racists, perhaps the most racists in our country, and who truly want to kill "whitey". Such folks don't give a damn about Martin or the facts or whether Martin is 100% responsible for his death or truly was the victim - it's all about race for them and Martin and the eventual disposition of Zimmerman may well supply the excuse for what they already want to do. People such as these won't be satisfied until they do riot.

I got Ramsey's reelection email this afternoon...I already responded...he won't like the response and I'll be giving money to whoever his opponent is.

It's unfortunate but many times, a soldier won't know he followed an Illegal order until he's charged with some kind of crime - as with many things, it's usually a lot easier to know using hindsight. This issue today with being "political" while "representing" the armed forces is more complicated today than it used to be....standing on a platform with a political candidate while you are in uniform is pretty much a slam dunk that you are violating the rules...talk with someone over a cup of coffee at a Starbucks about politics with no mention or outward sign that you are in the military and you are just "Mr. private citizen" having a conversation...say the same thing on your facebook page with it being obvious you are in the military and you may have a problem. Many people believe and treat social networking (forums like TGO, facebook, etc) as private platforms from which to speak; much like the Starbucks mentioned above but but they simply are not private.

I don't believe anyone has been "driven away" and disagreement or pointing out inconsistencies in a person's opinion/statements is not harassment.

A lot of theory that places the burden for the incident on Zimmerman rests on the idea that Zimmerman was being overly zealous/aggressive. If Martin didn't know or was a lot less than sure that he was being followed (and it's far from clear to me just "how" and how long Zimmerman was or wasn't "following" Martin) then it doesn't seem to me that Zimmerman was all that aggressive; at least not aggressive enough that there was any need for anybody to start a physical confrontation.

No one has said otherwise and I'm not even sure why such a statement is relevant or needed. No one has said you aren't entitled to an opinion. That does not mean anybody needs to agree with your opinion or hold their own opinion that your opinion isn't well founded. I've seen no evidence that you are willing to debate...in fact you've made it pretty clear that nothing is going to alter you opinion which makes "debating" a rather useless exercise. No one has personally attacked you and it isn't even possible to "personally attack" an "opinion" (you might want to look up just what a "personal attack" is before you start accusing people of doing it). OR to paraphrase one of the greatest lines from one of the greatest movies ever made, "I don't think that phrase means what you think it means". LOL

Thats seems a contradiction to what you said here... If Zimmerman really was stalking him for blocks I would think he (Martin) would know. However, if Martin wasn't certain he was being followed then I don't see how being followed could have precipitated anything between the two men as you have suggested both in the post quoted above and in others in this threat.

No need to shout. No, you haven't as far as I can recall (and I have no plans to go back through 800+ posts to check)...I'm just saying that in my opinion your opinion as well as the opinion of some others here, is based on significantly underwhelming, questionable and one-sided information. My primary point, however, is that regardless of how much or how little evidence any opinion is based on, we have a justice system so that we don't depend on or convict people of a crime based the opinions of people who don't have all the evidence in front of them.

We have "news" organizations blowing up Chevy trucks, creating fake documents to discredit GW Bush and doctoring 911 tapes....I'm no journalist but I actually had a journalism course in college and I do remember being taught that the truth and accuracy was supposed to be the guiding principles of a story. Obviously that hasn't been the case for a long time.

My most accurate auto loader is my Les Bare Thunder Ranch with a trigger so light that it's almost not there. However; my MOST accurate handgun is my S&W Model 29 (Dirty Harry gun) - what a blast to shoot - those targets are the ones I keep

Which is exactly why we have a justice system. Thank God we don't send people to jail just based on people's opinions; especially the opinions of those who weren't there and have no idea what really happened (no matter how may "911 tapes" they listen to.

And all this information coming out is precisely why I refused to rush to judgment about Zimmerman's guilt or innocence - the budget deficit we face in this country is not the only one we have; we also have a deficit of rational thought. Zimmerman may well be guilty or he may also be innocent but we won't find out from the press; especially what passes for "press" these days.

Gee...either of these two look to me like they could be Obummer's son if he had one...I wonder if Obummer is going to inject himself into this incident like it die with Martin/Zimmerman? And gee, these to "kids" were unarmed! Who would have thought it possible that a couple of unarmed "kids" could almost kill an adult?

Of course, there isn't anything else in the world happening plus you've got a lot of people out there who think that everything can be solved in an hour (40 minutes once you deduct for commercials)

I've been thinking about a deuce and a half after I saw a preper family (last week on Natgeo) who bought one and it looked really cool) - The thing can run on almost anything and is big enough that no one is going to mess with you; even with it just sitting in the driveway. I don't know though...I think the three guns may be just a little bit over the top.

No uniforms or hats (nor badges or nightsticks). What we have done is gotten together for a few meetings and had some community events so that people have a chance to get to know each other. Another effective thing we all try to do is that when we see someone driving by (especially someone we don't recognize) we try to make contact and wave/say "hello"...not only is it a friendly gesture but it also let's the person we see know that he/her has been seen (just in case that person wold rather not be seen if you know what I mean).

I am old enough to remember a time when the press, even though biased toward the left, actually tried to present the news and left most of their opinions for the editorial page and/or made it clear when there were editorializing rather than reporting. Regardless of what some may think about commentators like Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levine and Glenn Beck; I believe that were it not for conservative talk radio we would already be nothing more than an European socialist state.

And if Obummer had a son, I wonder if he would look like one of the victims?
