  1. It still is but I'm not talking about Federal vs State responsibilities and rights. I believe that man is a moral creature and for a society to function; most especially a society that seeks to allow and foster personal liberty and freedom; we need both a population and a government that is comprised of a preponderance of people of good morals at all levels of government, Federal, State and Local. To attempt to strip moral/social issues from government, political parties of from considering whether to support a particular candidate for office is, in my opinion, a fools errand and a dangerous one as well.
  2. Maybe I missed it but they don't seem to. The Constitution doesn't regulate a lot of things but that doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't or don't need to be regulated. Creating the laws that regulate our society was left to the people, or more specifically, to those sent to represent the people's interests in Congress - when I pick a party to associate with (formally or informally), or a candidate to vote for I want to associate with a party/vote for a candidate that holds to most of the same moral positions I hold to and I don't think that makes me either narrow minded or unusual (and if it does make me narrow minded than I can live with that). I say again, there is a lot more to life than fiscal policy an I'll never vote for someone or associate with a party just because they have a good fiscal policy.
  3. What a lot of libertarians don't seem to (or refuse to) understand is that there is more to life than fiscal policy - those "narrow minded conservative/social conservative issues" are absolutely as important to me and to many other people as fiscal policy or whether/when/where we go to war. Issues like abortion, gay marriage and other social issues are important to many, many people including independents - minimizing or ignoring those issues is one reason why I don't believe the libertarian view will ever be more than a minor part of the political landscape.
  4. Yuup...just yesterday he single-handedly and illegally gutted the welfare reform that required work to receive welfare and I also heard just this morning that of the great sales numbers GM has been reporting; 75% of them have been sales to the government - this communist is daily working to dismantle our free-market economy.
  5. I'm just thankful that it only takes one good head shot to put down a zombie.
  6. One more thing about silver...regardless of the future price; I have to say that there is something very satisfying about holding a beautifully minted U.S. Silver Eagle $1 (one oz of fine silver) coin in your hand. It's a feeling you just can't get from paper money or any of the mostly worthless coins today (quarters, dimes, etc.)...that feeling alone might be worth buying a few of them.
  7. I wouldn't worry about that much...it's likely Obummer has every TGO member on a list somewhere so we'll all in the same boat.
  8. It's difficult for the government to confiscate what they don't know you have; especially if they don't know you have it or where it is. Of course, according to the current administration/Homeland Security I am a closet domestic terrorist (former military, white, male, conservative, tea party member, christian gun owner) so they may just come and kidnap me off the street and torture me until I tell them where all my stuff is.
  9. I've heard of Real Clear Politics for a long time...not sure where I first heard of them though. There are certainly plenty of sits out there purporting to have the GOP delegate count but I don't know which one is really the most accurate.
  10. I didn't say they were defacto anyting and I don't think anyone else did. I'm sure if you want to dig into the details the minor difference in numbers can be explained...I did see that RCP is showing some states as still "open"; maybe the Times is making an assumption about those states and where the count will ultimately be?
  11. Silver is likely underpriced right now and there are good reasons to think that the price will rise in the future and a search of the major investment houses who offer advice (but don't sell gold/silver) supports that. I buy a little here and there just to have some on hand but I'm not going to put all my money in it nor would I take investment advice from any apocryphal website; especially if they have a vested financial interest in what they are promoting. If our dollar does become worthless, and I don't discount that possibility, silver might be a good thing to have but I'd say the necessities of life as well as good life skills are going to be far more valuable and will become commodities that can be traded.
  12. http://www.realclear...te_count.html I'm not sure why the difference but I don't see that it matters much.
  13. ??? - I'm not sure what source you are looking at but RP is last in the delegate count (at least out of the top four).
  14. And you don't trust him because of his record I would think. I've seen noting in Romney that causes me to think is anything other than I described him above; we have years of history with Dirty Harry Reid to know where here stands on issues..comparing the two people because they claim the same religion is at best, unnecessary.
  15. And some things do; this just isn't one of them.
  16. 1. I'm proud of this country and what it's accomplished. I'm proud that I go to work every day and contribute to society rather than being a drain on it. I've done things I'm ashamed of but I'm not ashamed of me or of others just because we aren't perfect. 2. This country is not a democracy; it's a democratic republic. 3. If a "so called democracy" can never work, please elaborate on what system of government does/would.
  17. I don't like comparing magnitude of bad either but as I've said in other threads, I'm a pragmatist about such things...maybe Mit would sign a bill to take my "assault rifles" and maybe he wouldn't but I have good reason to believe that Obama would not only sign such a bill but would confiscate every single gun in existence (including anything that looks like a gun) and destroy them if he could. I simply will not vote for a fringe candidate...if I find my choice that objectionable I'll simply chose not to vote at all. I would vote for RP if he were the Republican nominee but he isn't the Republican nominee. Moreover, I don't believe he can or would beat Obama in a head to head fight for many of the same reasons he has failed to win the nomination both times he's tried to obtain it.
  18. My friend, you and I have had that argument before...multiple times before...I don't agree with you for what I believe are valid reasons and I'm not going to agree with you and I'm okay with that. With regard to the Safe Employee Commute bill, virtually the same laws are operating in 16 states and have already survived the "private property" Constitutional challenge so our arguing about it is sort of a wast of time anyway. But whether the Constitution applies to business property is not germane to the issue of defeating Maggart anyway; Debra Maggart engaged in secretive and underhanded maneuvers to keep the issue from coming before the people's legislature for an up/down vote; a vote that both proponents AND opponents of the bill wanted to come to the floor. She did it, I believe, to placate her big business pals (and keep their campaign contributions coming in)...she did it so that she wouldn't need to actually vote on the measure and expose the fact that she wasn't the friend of the Second Amendment she has claimed has always claimed to be and retain her favorable NRA rating. The NRA is absolutely right to take her favorable rating away and to let the people of her district know where she really stands on 2A issues. Most importantly, any politician that would put money ahead of principles she claims to believe in is a politician we can do without because she has proven that she cannot be trusted to what is right if someone dangles enough money in front of her.
  19. I believe Mit to be an honest man and an man of good morals. I believe he honestly loves this country. Most importantly to me, I believe him to be a capitalist and NOT a COMMUNIST. Every negative (assuming they are true and in context) you can say the same thing about Obama except you would need to multiply by about 10 to the 20th power. Deciding between Mit and Obama; absolutely no contest for me.
  20. I, for one, would love to see you post something original with you rather than internet videos day after day. If you actually stated your views and debated issues instead of just posting videos you might actually sway people to your positions...hell, I might even agree with you once in a while.
  21. I disagree with the "not bound by the Constitution" but nevertheless, they ARE bound by the law and we need to change the law.
  22. I believe it's incumbent upon those who carry to abide by the wishes of the business who doesn't want firearms on the property nor do I ever want to give my money to such businesses. At the same time, it's incumbent upon such businesses to make their wishes know meaning that if they aren't going to post IAW the statute they should at least post sings that are big enough to see and posted where they can be seen BEFORE you get inside the property.
  23. I've looked at Dish many times...I'm still with DirectTV and see no reason to switch.
  24. That's true but where did you see that the weapon was in a locked glovebox?
  25. It's called "MONEY"...now that Republicans are actually in control of state government, all that money that big corporations used to give to the Democrats are coming to Republicans, as long as they do what the corporations want of course. Ramsey knows that and he just want's his fair share or in other words, he's decided that campaign contributions are more important then principles and promises. I heard the Chris Cox/NRA radio spot today - it's awesome and absolutely spot on and it the truth chaps Ramsey's ass so much the better.
