Gun buyback fail - Bring your own tissues
RobertNashville replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
For "history" to mean anything to a person that person must have a working brain with which to understand its importance. Given that this is California and political hacks/government employees of California to boot I doubt you would be able to find two working brain cells between/among tham all; much less a actual working brain. -
I think what we need to do is to get our own helicoptors and when we see these privacy-steeling "drones" we can use our own drones to attack them and force them down...sort of like we see in the movies when one country's fighter jets force down an airliner that has violated that country's air space! If we have cameras on our drones we can post it to YouTube and those videos would probably be a big hit! Besides, I think a anti-helicoptor helicoptor would be a lit easier to explain to LE than firing off a 12ga in your backyard! LOL

Obviously these remote controlled helicopters are evil; after all that's why they are being called drones now...if they are "black" then they are doubly evil. LOL

A very satisfying Super Bowl for me! I lived across the sound from Seattle (Port Orchard) Washington when the Seahawks were created as an expansion team and went to the Kingdome many times for games (Seahawks and Mariners). I must say I felt a little sorry for Denver with it being such a one-sided game tonight but that is what competition is about and why we play games rather than just assume they will turn out the way the "experts" think they'll turn out! Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks!

Having retired from a major competitor of KIA I've watched they grow a lot as a company and in their quality/engineering...I find them to be an excellent vehicle for the money. There are better vehicles out there but in terms of raw value for the $$$ I think they are hard to beat.

From "Futurama" (paraphrasing a bit)........... Fry (to park ranger talking about the possibility of the existance of "Big Foot": "Why don't you just put out cameras everywhere and that way, if a Big Foot walks by you'll have lots of pictures of him?" Ranger: "Well, that would cost a l of money and and most people who believe in Big Food don't have any money".

I think you missed his point.

 Okay...I stand embarrassed...Good catch! I think the same principal applies though doesn't it? Most states (although specific state laws differ) do assess a sales/use tax on services...I'm not sure why internet service should be treated any differently than any other in a given state.
-
No one hates paying taxes any more than I do but I really don't get why this is causing people heartburn. These taxes are already owed....they've always been owed. If you by anything from a business (over the internet or not) and sales tax wasn't collected on the sale you still owe the tax. Requiring businesses who operate over the internet to collect sales taxes for each customer's state of residence (or shipping address) is inevitable since most people won't self-report...it's also necessary to put internet only retailers on a somewhat equal footing with business who have brick and mortar locations.

Connecticut scrambles for amnesty plan
RobertNashville replied to Worriedman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yet enough of them voted in politicians who were willing to put these ridiculous laws into place. If they can't turn this around at the ballot box at the very next available opportunity then I'd say it's time for time for them to find another state to live in. -
Tailgating is unsafe regardless of who is doing it. The problem is that if it's a cop you likely aren't going to "win" (above experiences notwithstanding) by doing something off the wall (or outright illegal). Best thing I can think of is to pull into the next store/gasoline station, etc. that you can find which will force him to either pull in behind you or go on.

So you want to see a picture of some of the Walmart problem?
RobertNashville replied to hardknox00001's topic in General Chat
I didn't buy ammo at Walmart before the idiocy set in and I don't buy it now nor will I in the future. If people have time to sit around and wait for it and others are stupid enough to pay far more per round than it is actually worth I say that's there problem and prerogative....seems stupid on many levels to me but whatever. -
Everybody has to start somewhere and if a Hi-Point is what you can afford then it's what you can afford; nothing wrong with that and it's a good thing for all that they are in the marketplace.

Smith & Wesson and Strum, Ruger to Stop Selling Guns in California
RobertNashville replied to The Legion's topic in Handguns
I think they are beyond that point...between the population of the cities that are overwhelmingly Democrat (including many that are illegals who are still allowed to vote) the few decent people in CA don't have much of a chance to turn things around (and when they take a step in the right direction some court says the step is unconstitutional). -
Lamar's Chief of Staff Accused of Child Porn
RobertNashville replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Sad end to a sad story...sad all the way around. Pornography, whether child or adult, is a poison that kills families and relationships every day. -
Smith & Wesson and Strum, Ruger to Stop Selling Guns in California
RobertNashville replied to The Legion's topic in Handguns
I've been reading these stories...I truly hope that none of the LE agencies in CA are allowed to use non-compliant guns either...that way, when all the gun makers refused to comply with the law stop selling in CA LEOs won't have firearms either; only the criminals who always ignore the law would have guns. It will never happen that way of course but it certainly would be some poetic justice for the idiots running California these days. I feel sorry for the good, decent, people who live in CA...maybe it's time for them to move. -
Apparently my meaning isn't clear. My meaning especially isn't clear if you think I "don't mind" that federal buildings or any other are exempt and I've absolutely no idea where you came up with that interpretation. I don't believe that any place (building/parking lots/structure/park/school grounds, etc.*) that exists for public use and/or where the public (including employees) are invited to be should be able to forbid that public/employees from being armed. When did this thread become about or limited to the "parking lot bill"? I guess I missed that because that has not been what I've been talking about other than tangentially. * Unless that facility/building, etc. can cite a valid, demonstrable and significant safety/operational concern to the presence of a firearm.

I think that article is missing the point or what should be the concern here which is not that Maryland knew that this person had a weapon's permit and/or assumed he was armed...the real issue is how does that translate into supporting a traffic stop in the first place much less being detained for that long and having his vehicle searched...THAT should cause the outrage and THAT is what I hope translates into some serious embarrassment and COSTS for the State of Maryland and costs to the LEOs that participated.

In the beginning of this thread I thought we might actually have a fairly serious discussion about something scientifically interesting. I guess I was premature in thinking that.

Yeah it's something like 0.5 MPH I think!

I read this story the other day...I would have posted it here but didn't think anyone would be interested - the story I read yesterday or the day before said they have already assumed it was the rover's wheels that kicked it up (not that there is any way to know for sure)...the interesting thing is how different this rock is from what they've found before. Have you heard about the relatively "nearby" star that they just saw going super nova a few days (well, 12 million years) ago?

I don't know why what I though were simple comments are such a problem. As far as my comments drealing the thread this thread was derailed a long time ago; most of the pages of posts here have nothing to do with the original topic. DaveTn, whom I was replying to, has been complaining in this and other threads about the fact that we don't have constitutional carry in Tennessee and that we have to pay for the little plastic card, etc...all I was pointing out, it what I intended to be just rather "side comments" to the whole issue and certainly not intending them to become a big deal, was that we did once have what is now called "constitutional carry" and that the only real reason we don't have it now is because of the racist laws, still in effect today, that were put in place to keep blacks from being able to legally carry arms...I'm suggesting that had it not been for them all this consternation about not having constitutional carry would likely be moot. If that's still unclear or you think that derailed the thread I'm sorry about that.
