Wow! Isn't this totally cool? (creative edit. :p)
RobertNashville replied to Steelharp's topic in General Chat
I think that's a pretty cynical and sweeping statement to make. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is no way you can know my motivations or the motivations of others - while I'm sure you didn't intend to do so, it's a bit insulting to me to have my motivations marginalize by assuming it's only because it is a symbol for Obama. -
By both his words and his actions, BHO has shown that he truly has no respect for the greatness of America or of its people; that he has total disdain for the Constitution and, for that matter all other laws that would prevent him from doing whatever he wants to do to complete his work of transforming America. He is clueless about what makes our economy works and perhaps even more cluelesabout foreign policy. Therefore, I believe four more years of BHO will result in a complete collapse of our currency and, as a result, a collapse of our economy...as goes the U.S. so will go the world economy and we will enter a period of financial pain that we have nothing to even compare to except, perhaps, 1930's Germany. The right of free speech, free thought, expression of religion will be replaced by censorship and laws forbidding us from saying or doing anything that might offend others, especially if the others are muslims. Our border control, such as it is, will be abandoned as we open the country to anyone who makes it across the border with the promise of amnesty, jobs and public assistance so those who still actually want to work will have trouble finding jobs because there will be dozens of illegals ready to do the same work for pennies...thoughts of our country being a sovereign nation will be discouraged as old fashioned, even dangerous to be replaced by global rules and ideals of "fairness" and "justice". BHO will have to do something about firearms in the hands of civilians as he knows that is the biggest threat to him. I don't know what he'll do or how he'll do it but I've no doubt that he will do all he can to make civilian firearm ownership difficult or impossible. I would think he'll probably get laws passed for the sake of the "children" and based on a campaign that an "assault weapon" and high-capacity magazine has no legitimate "sporting purpose". I see civil unrest and crime becoming out of control as those who lose all hope will look to the government and the "evil rich" to feed, cloth and house them as well as provide medical care and entertainment and they won't get those things because the bankrupt and inept government will not be able to provide those things; they won't be able to "tax the rich" because anyone who truly is rich will likely have moved out of the country or found other ways to protect their lifestyles; just like I would if I had the resources to do so. The only hope of stemming the bleeding will be a Congress with some balls and some common sense but I've seen little reason to expect we'll get that (I hope I'm wrong)...we had a really good crop of conservative legislators elected two years ago and they have failed to actually DO anything to stop the financial bleeding so, if BHO is re-elected; and with a complacent or impotent Congress; we have little reason to hope for anything good in our future. Most of my disrepair is centered with what I believe is, with a second BHO term, the certain collapse of our economy. History is pretty clear; when a democracy goes down the road we are on (printing worthless money and monetizing its debt so that it can keep handing out money it doesn't have) it has never ended well - every time, such a democracy has collapsed it's been followed by civil unrest and chaos and then, to restore order, a dictator. I don't know if having Romney as President instead of BHO will stop the collapse but I am deadly certain that a continuation of BHO's policies will bring the collapse.

Yeah I do.I do because I respect our flag...I've served under our flag...I've had friend's coffins draped by our flag and I don't like it when ANYONE disrespects our flag. Most of the time, stupid people do it because they are stupid. This egotistical, narcissistic, racist bastard is doing it to get re-elected which is far more disrespectful than someone doing it out of stupidity. -
Stopping theft with deadly force
RobertNashville replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Since the original question already eliminated the issue of legality from the matter; where (what state) someone is in doesn't really matter I don't think. Anyway, the question is would you stop a theft with deadly force; for me, "what" is being stolen is not part of the decision matrix (to coin a phrase). That doesn't mean I won't try to stop the theft if I think I can but am I going to use deadly force to do it? No; at least not except for extreme and unusual circumstances as I indicated a couple of pages ago. -

Crowned about moral superiority? Really??? Pray tell; how can the only thing in the decision matrix be the legality of the force used when the question specifically removes legality from consideration - when there is no "legality" involved, the issue left in the decision matrix IS each person's individual morals. I sleep just fine with mine, too. -

Yes...regardless of the law...that's the question I'm answering because my opinion about taking a human life to protect property isn't going to change just because Tennessee's law might change or if it were different than it currently is. -

I've raised the issue of insurance; maybe someone else has. The question is pretty simple and for me, that answer is simple; I place a much higher value on human life than I do on inanimate objects; therefor, I'm not going to kill someone just over a piece of property. This whole discussion sort of reminds me of some of the auto repossession "reality" shows with people going wacko just because the vehicle they didn't pay for and know they didn't pay for is getting taken away...I know much of that is staged and/or they use the most outrageous incidents for their show but I mean some of these people act like their whole world is over just because they lose a stupid car or truck. I carry arms to protect my life and possible, the life of some other innocent person; that's what my weapon is for. I have insurance to protect me from loss of property...that's what insurance for. If someone's insurance isn't adequate to replace what they have then maybe they need more or better insurance...that's a hell of alot better option than killing another human being. A single shot fired to protect your flat screen or truck from being stolen could easily change your life forever and have far, far more negative impact on you AND your family than replacing a TV or a vehicle ever could. -

Wow...I'm a bit stunned by those who seem willing to take a life to protect "things"...things that in more than a few cases many would be thrown out in the trash in a few years (i.e. the computer system I paid more than 2K for not many years ago that now isn't worth keeping as a door stop). Doesn't anyone have insurance anymore? -

I can understand why you feel that way but I don't consider a piece of wood or steel (a kitchen table) worth taking a man's life for...things are just that; things. I have many things in my house that are part of my memories from childhood; my Dad's ruby ring...the rocking chair I had as a little boy, etc...as much as I would hate to lose them, I'm not going to kill anyone over them.If a person isn't imminently threatening my life or the life of some other innocent then he as as much right to live as I do...maybe he needs to do some of his living in jail but that doesn't mean I have any right to take his life from him. -
Most historically signifigant handgun?
RobertNashville replied to charlessummers's topic in Handguns
Pretty difficult question to answer I think...as soon as you come up with one suggestion there are probably a dozen others with equally significant historical worth. It's a bit like asking which founding father is the most important to the founding of our country...we simply wouldn't have the country we have if all of them weren't a part of the process! -

RobertNashville replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
There simply is no property worth killing someone over - the only possible exception I could see to that would be if taking that "property" truly puts your life in grave/imminent danger (and I would suggest such occasions would be extremely rare at most). Yes, thieves are dirtbags and I'd like to see them punished a lot more than they usually are these days but to take a life just because someone is steeling something as inconsequential as money or a flatscreen or a vehicle is ridiculous. -
A question for the Romney apologists
RobertNashville replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Actually; we know virtually nothing about BHO's past...30 minutes after a mass shooting as we know just about everything about the shooter...almost four years into his first term as President and we know virtually nothing about Obama that hasn't been manufactured by someone to make him look good. -
Personally, I'm looking forward to the opening and plan to visit often and your offer above is just one of the reasons I'm excited that you are here!

OMG...are we a microwave society or what! The Tea Party doesn't have a perfect record of wins and doesn't change everything in three years so it's of no value now? What have you done with any of the Tea Party groups...do you belong to one? How much time have you spent knocking on doors...how much money have you donated to candidates...how many phone calls have you made on behalf of candidates? If you've been doing those things great; if you aren't doing those things why not and how do you expect things to change if you aren't?

The majority of Americans would have trouble telling you who is the Secretary of State right now or even if they have heard about the embassy attacks...the majority of Americans who are eligible to vote don't even bother to register and the majority of those who register don't even vote.So.... I don't really give a flying you-know-what about what the majority of Americans think about the Tea Party. All the really matters is what those who identify with Tea Party ideas DO...do they continue to be involved...give money to candidates...make phone calls; etc...as long as they stay involved they can have an impact no mater what the great unwashed think.

New regulations for postings? (Opinions)
RobertNashville replied to Mdunntn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm all for calling a change in the law something other than a "parking lot bill"...what I would propose is an expansion of the castle doctrine which says something to the effect that... No one but LE can compel a search of a vehicle No one (not an employer or business owner, etc) can dictate what can be inside of your vehicle so long as what is in your vehicle is "legal" to have there and so long as your vehicle is "legally" parked or sitting or driving where it has a legal right to be. In other words, if a business or an employer or any other entity maintains a parking lot where you are invited to be (because you are an employee or customer or a person that entity exists to serve); then you can have anything (legal) in your vehicle you chose to have there just as if it were your personal, private residence and that said entity can't compel a search (or take disciplinary measures against you for not consenting to a search) any more than they could do so if they wanted to search your home. -
New regulations for postings? (Opinions)
RobertNashville replied to Mdunntn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Whether you officially say that your vehicle is an extension of your "home/castle" or just say that no one can post a parking lot that is used for business (employees, customers, etc) that is, effectively the same whether you call it a "parking lot bill" or not.I'm all for constitutional carry as well as for removing the stiffer criminal penalties for carrying past a sign (leaving it to nothing more than trespassing) but such changes are secondary, in my opinion, if we can't carry to/from our homes just because any one parking lot we might need to park in that day is "posted" against firearms - as it stands right now; if I have 10 locations I need to be in a given day, any single parking lot which is posted means I cannot legally carry my firearm with me that entire day which pretty much makes my HCP meaningless. -
I didn't say anything about Israel having anything to do with oil or oil prices...my point was that if our only true ally in the Middle East (Israel) and our psudo-ally Saudi Arabia falls then only those Muslims who hate the West and the U.S. in particular will control all oil coming out of the Middle East...whether it comes out at all...who it goes too and at what price.

And it would be a near paradise without lawyers who take idiots for clients that want to sue companies who do nothing but produce a product that other people want and can use safely because they have more than two working brain cells. -
Another book I recently found and am currently reading is called "Pulse"; can't really say how good or how realistic it is but it has at least been entertaining so far. Might be worth the read for those who like survival stories in a world where all the technology we depend on no longer works (not quite like the "Hunger Games" but...

If Israel is destroyed (which is the stated purpose of every country that surrounds it) the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia will destabilize....can you say $20+/gallon for gasoline (if you can find any to buy)? I knew you could. As goes the Middle East so will go Europe and if Europe is destabilized the U.S. will be also( assuming a lack of cheep oil, and a completely worthless currency hasn't already done the job). We can't hide from what happens in Europe or the Middle East just because we are geographically distant.

In this case, I don't believe that perception is reality because the Tea Party is not "an" organization that can be put in a bottle...it doesn't have a membership structure or an organization like the Republican Party or the Democratic Party or the local country club...no one can identify "THE" Tea Party because it's a movement of individuals.I am the Tea Party...by that I mean I am as much the Tea Party as any individual is...what anyone who isn't involved (especially those not involved or who are anti-Tea Party) thinks about the Tea Party has zero impact on what I do and how I involve myself in the political process; at least, not unless I let it.
