Oh yeah; we're in great shape aren't we. I guess $16trillion in debt with $1Trillion+ in annual deficits as far as any can see isn't a problem nor is monetizing our debt at the rate of $40 billion/month with no end.I guess nearly 4 year of over 8% unemployment and nearly 20% real unemployment is no big deal. I guess nearly 50% of the population paying no income tax while being supported by the other 50% is okay too as is government takeover of most of the domestic auto industry; spending $billions on failed "green energy"...killing the coal industry...refusing to allow domestic oil production...refusing to allow a pipeline from Canada through the U.S....socializing our health care system so that we'll be as bad and as broke as Europe...U.S Ambassadors killed and embassies around the world threatened while BHO sleeps and campaigns...I guess it's all no big deal. Surely, with all he's accomplished in four years knowing he would have to face reelection; we can be assured that things will only get better in a second term when he doesn't have to face reelection again and I just can't wait to see the Supreme Court nominations he'll make in his second term. Yeah...no big deal...no one election really matters.

Stopping theft with deadly force
RobertNashville replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
We ALL understood the question; we all simply don't have the same opinion about the issue...TMF was simply being sarcastic at my expense - he and I have vastly different answers to the question but that's far as it goes. -
70%? Hell, if he had paid 110% it wouldn't be enough for the Obamanuts and in fact, they would simply turn around and point and say how stupid he is for paying 110%.And I'm beginning to think that some folks on this board would be pointing fingers and saying the same thing as well!

So people shouldn't give money to charity, correct...I suppose then you are just fine with the government taking money from people under threat of prison so the government can decide who is "good enough" to get help??? Really? You know all that horses**t for a fact do you? You've got evidence to support your maligning a man you don't know? This stuff sounds like something I spread in my garden.

What better of a way to spend bonus money?
RobertNashville replied to reed1285's topic in Show and Tell
I'm not sure which is truly more "warm and fuzzy"...loading a 12ga magazine or that sound you get when you chamber a round in a 12ga pump. Nice way to spend some bonus money, though...that's for sure! -
Just wait 'till the really expensive stuff kicks in!Unfortunately, and despite promises to the contrary, I don't have much hope that we'll be free of socialized healthcare even if Romney wins the election. The current Congress, with a significant influx of conservative members, has shown no ability to get rid of Obamacare or even defund some of it...just like they've shown no ability to actually cut spending. We need a President who won't stop needed changes (like Obama would)...we need a President who will push for changes...but unless there is some significant backbone grown by the time the new Congress is seated I don't see Obamacare going anywhere.

Stopping theft with deadly force

A pretty practical view. The "cost", financial and otherwise, of killing (or perhaps worse, wounding) a bad guy will almost certainly be substantial whether or not the shooting was legally justified and of course, especially substantial if the shooting is eventually ruled to not have been justified. Protecting my life is worth all of that that cost and then some; protecting my stuff...not so much. (I will say, anyone that comes after my hound or my cat will be have some very large caliber hell rain down on them - the "state" may consider them "property" but for me, they are family. ) -
Your feigned concern is unnecessary.I said nothing about it "coming from" the Republican party; I said the Republican party was the only realistic vehicle for change and absolutely so this election cycle.
-
No one here is pretending anything about Republicans...that whole claim is just a red hearing. What is true is that the Republican party is the only realistic vehicle for change because that sure isn't going to come from the Democratic Socialist party.

Yeah...he won't go for our guns just like yeah, he could never put us on socialized health care.Wen we are paying $8/gallon for gasoline (when it's available) and the food budget is twice what it is today, worrying about Obummer coming after our guns will be low on the list of top concerns. The "President" cannot control the economy but unending $trillion+ annual deficits on top of massive debt he's already given us and the unending monetizing of our debt and the President and the Fed can damn sure plunge us into total economic collapse. The only thing that would need to change right now, to completely tank our economy would be the rise of interest to their normal levels...if that one thing alone happened the government couldn't even afford to pay the interest on our debt much less fund all the programs people are not dependent on.

As usual, you demonstrate a talent for getting to the heart of the matter.

Whether anyone saw it coming or not, it indicates that the current supreme court is not averse to ignoring the Constitution and trampling on individual rights.I didn't say that being forced to buy insurance is "as bad" as declaring the 2A null and void but I am sure that BHO is perfectly willing to ignore any "right" that interferes with his plans.
-
In the post I was replying to, I was specifically replying to the statement of "people talking about Romney being just as bad are off base too"; "people" meaning people HERE on TGO who, in thread after thread, have been saying Romney is "as bad" as or no different than BHO (often followed with their claim that they are going to vote for Gary Johnson or Paul or some other third-party candidate or even not vote at all). Such folks are not (or certainly not likely to be) Democrats/BHO supporters - if they are, saying that the opposition candidate is "as bad" as their candidate would be a pretty strange thing to say.
-
Would that be the same SC that just upheld Obamacare and the law forcing people to buy a product whether they want it or not?Obama, with executive orders has already signed away the Constitution and existing laws numerous times.
-
Most of the people disparaging and marginalizing Romney are those who are angry that their candidate (mostly Paul supporters) didn't win the nomination.Badmouthing Romney is a defense mechanism.
-
For those of you concerned about Pawlenty's departure; can you name anything good he's done for Romney's campaign? If you can't then why should anyone care if he leaves? His departure may be the best thing that could happen to Romney's campaign.

I've never seen any evidence at all that they've ever given $ to "anti-gay organizations" so what difference does it make if they continue to not give them money in the future? This "promise" was a business decision to placate the assholes who were withholding business permits for some new restaurants.

While I wish he hadn't done it, Reagan's actual mistake in granting amnesty was believing Tip O'Neil/Congress when he was promised that with the amnesty would come true border control...it didn't happen and so we got (and are getting) millions more illegals.

Who carries a full sized gun?
RobertNashville replied to Jesse's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I only carry full-sized; a G31, 21 or 20 and sometimes two of the three. Generally, I carry one in a crossbreed supertuck and, if carrying two, one off body. -
Wow! Isn't this totally cool? (creative edit. :p)

I think that's a pretty cynical and sweeping statement to make. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is no way you can know my motivations or the motivations of others - while I'm sure you didn't intend to do so, it's a bit insulting to me to have my motivations marginalize by assuming it's only because it is a symbol for Obama. -
By both his words and his actions, BHO has shown that he truly has no respect for the greatness of America or of its people; that he has total disdain for the Constitution and, for that matter all other laws that would prevent him from doing whatever he wants to do to complete his work of transforming America. He is clueless about what makes our economy works and perhaps even more cluelesabout foreign policy. Therefore, I believe four more years of BHO will result in a complete collapse of our currency and, as a result, a collapse of our economy...as goes the U.S. so will go the world economy and we will enter a period of financial pain that we have nothing to even compare to except, perhaps, 1930's Germany. The right of free speech, free thought, expression of religion will be replaced by censorship and laws forbidding us from saying or doing anything that might offend others, especially if the others are muslims. Our border control, such as it is, will be abandoned as we open the country to anyone who makes it across the border with the promise of amnesty, jobs and public assistance so those who still actually want to work will have trouble finding jobs because there will be dozens of illegals ready to do the same work for pennies...thoughts of our country being a sovereign nation will be discouraged as old fashioned, even dangerous to be replaced by global rules and ideals of "fairness" and "justice". BHO will have to do something about firearms in the hands of civilians as he knows that is the biggest threat to him. I don't know what he'll do or how he'll do it but I've no doubt that he will do all he can to make civilian firearm ownership difficult or impossible. I would think he'll probably get laws passed for the sake of the "children" and based on a campaign that an "assault weapon" and high-capacity magazine has no legitimate "sporting purpose". I see civil unrest and crime becoming out of control as those who lose all hope will look to the government and the "evil rich" to feed, cloth and house them as well as provide medical care and entertainment and they won't get those things because the bankrupt and inept government will not be able to provide those things; they won't be able to "tax the rich" because anyone who truly is rich will likely have moved out of the country or found other ways to protect their lifestyles; just like I would if I had the resources to do so. The only hope of stemming the bleeding will be a Congress with some balls and some common sense but I've seen little reason to expect we'll get that (I hope I'm wrong)...we had a really good crop of conservative legislators elected two years ago and they have failed to actually DO anything to stop the financial bleeding so, if BHO is re-elected; and with a complacent or impotent Congress; we have little reason to hope for anything good in our future. Most of my disrepair is centered with what I believe is, with a second BHO term, the certain collapse of our economy. History is pretty clear; when a democracy goes down the road we are on (printing worthless money and monetizing its debt so that it can keep handing out money it doesn't have) it has never ended well - every time, such a democracy has collapsed it's been followed by civil unrest and chaos and then, to restore order, a dictator. I don't know if having Romney as President instead of BHO will stop the collapse but I am deadly certain that a continuation of BHO's policies will bring the collapse.

Yeah I do.I do because I respect our flag...I've served under our flag...I've had friend's coffins draped by our flag and I don't like it when ANYONE disrespects our flag. Most of the time, stupid people do it because they are stupid. This egotistical, narcissistic, racist bastard is doing it to get re-elected which is far more disrespectful than someone doing it out of stupidity. -
Stopping theft with deadly force
RobertNashville replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Since the original question already eliminated the issue of legality from the matter; where (what state) someone is in doesn't really matter I don't think. Anyway, the question is would you stop a theft with deadly force; for me, "what" is being stolen is not part of the decision matrix (to coin a phrase). That doesn't mean I won't try to stop the theft if I think I can but am I going to use deadly force to do it? No; at least not except for extreme and unusual circumstances as I indicated a couple of pages ago. -

Crowned about moral superiority? Really??? Pray tell; how can the only thing in the decision matrix be the legality of the force used when the question specifically removes legality from consideration - when there is no "legality" involved, the issue left in the decision matrix IS each person's individual morals. I sleep just fine with mine, too. -
Stopping theft with deadly force
RobertNashville replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yes...regardless of the law...that's the question I'm answering because my opinion about taking a human life to protect property isn't going to change just because Tennessee's law might change or if it were different than it currently is.
