I'd would bet that they are going to go away unless USPS bigwigs can pull some money out of their asses or the businesses that like their cheep mail are willing to pay a LOT more for it. Even the USPS can't go on bleeding cash indefinitely.

This statement bothers me a bit. Maybe I'm all wrong on this but I don't think a property owner has any legal right to lay hands on a trespasser in order to remove him/her from his property unless the trespasser started the physical altercation. I would think that if a property owner did what you describe above he could be charged with and found guilty of assault and/or aggravated assault.

None of my bills come through the mail. Actually, there is almost zero need for actual mail delivery today. What little might actually need to be physically delivered can be handled by the private sector; everything else can be done faster, easier, and more inexpensively by electronic means; that is, of course, whey the USPS is losing money in HUGE amounts. I don't blame the post office for this; not just the USPS has been caught between a rock and a hard place by the huge societal changes we've seen over the past 20 years or so (although the USPS, given its bureaucratic mentality has probably been the slowest to respond to the changes).

I have a SIG Scorpion and a C3 and I agree, I think the quality, fit and finish of the SIG 1911s are very underrated...if someone wants a really nice 1911 but doesn't want to pay the prices that Nighthawk, Ed Brown, WC, and LB command I think these are the way to go!

Seriously....whole AC units being stolen!?!
RobertNashville replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm getting ready to replace mine...maybe if someone stole it my insurance would cover the cost??? -
The mods I've made to all my Glocks are sights....I really haven't had a problem with the factory mag release or slide stop although I think they are good mods. Other than that, I just shoot them.

Watch Out Guys, Obama is Going to Find SOMEONE Responsible.
RobertNashville replied to gjohnsoniv's topic in General Chat
He ought to have no trouble at all since all he has to do is look in the mirror. It's a real shame our country doesn't take traitorous acts seriously or use firing squads any longer. -
Interesting video! Thanks for posting.

I've never missed a general election since turning 18, even when I was deployed oversees...I think I've missed no more than two primary elections and only because there simply wasn't anything I felt I needed to vote on. I voted for Romney last week and did so happily and I did not feel as if I was doing so only because there wasn't a better choice. I've no illusions about Romney being a perfect president but he may well be the perfect man we need as president for this particular moment in time...Romney may well be exactly the type of person the country needs to at least start to put the brakes on the out of control socialist government we've been heading into for far too long. I've been watching the crowds (size and enthusiasm) Romney is generating at his public appearances - I think the thought that most people are voting for him only because there isn't a better option is a bit misguided and perhaps based more on their personal feelings rather then what is actually happening "out there".

Mom leaves HCP class, takes gun to school
RobertNashville replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I concur...given the slaps on wrists they give to some who do far more dangerous things, I don't think this lady deserves much "punishment".That said, I'm also not sure I want her carrying a loaded firearm either....seems to me she either is a bit on the stupid side or she knew she was breaking the law and didn't care...either way, I don't think she is the type of person that should be carrying. -
Surprise This Wasn't Posted Yet: G & L burns
RobertNashville replied to E4 No More's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm surprised it wasn't already posted too...thanks for doing so. I'd heard about it on Saturday night through a FB post...glad to know that no one was hurt and that most of their inventory was saved.. Best wishes to G&L as they rebuild...certainly a tough break for any retailer heading into the Christmas season. -
I made the assumption that the ###hole killed the troops because he assumed they would be a threat to his control/leadership and who knows, they might have turned out to be. Not making excuses for the governor of course...it really pissed me off to see that massacre and I look forward to a show where, I hope, he'll get what's coming to him.

I concur. I've been an aficionado of the 10MM since about 1993 when I bought my first 10MM handgun (a Cold Double Eagle purchased in the fall of 1993 - it was sort of a protest buy just before the wonderful Brady Bill went into effect). The Cold DE is gone (as are other firearms I still wish I owned) but I have a couple of other 1911s in 10MM - overall, however, I don't think anything can beat the G20 for 10MM accuracy, performance and control. It's just damn fun to shoot and I usually have it on me either as my primary weapon or as my bug.

Chattanooga paper endorses Gary Johnson!
RobertNashville replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There is a reason why these third-tier candidates are third-tier and it isn't just because of the two big, bad major parties as some folks want everyone to believe. -

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that good, well run polling organizations have/will find a way to compensate for this societal switch; and, this switch has been going on quite a while now to the point that it's almost the "norm". Cell phone numbers aren't secret and can be learned (or robot-dialed)...plus, many people who have switched ported their land-line number to their cell phone...many people give out their cell phone numbers all the time to various organizations. So, I don't think that someone having only a cell phone necessarily means they won't be polled. I stopped using a land-line for actual telephone conversations at least 10 years ago yet I still get called by various companies asking my opinion about one thing or another. So...a wrinkle? Could be. Game changing? I don't think so. -

I mean no disrespect to anyone here but I think some have a bit of a simplistic view of how a truly good and accurate poll is put together. I don't mean to say that I'm any kind of an expert on the matter, far from it...but I've been following political polls for a few decades now (well, at least 4+ decades) and have picked up enough information here and there to at least understand that how questions are crafted, how the polls are conducted and, more importantly, how that data is interpreted is both art and science. I don't put complete faith in polls but I do know that the organizations that do their job well are usually pretty damn close to the final result. -

Maybe I'm all wet but I don't believe the actual election will be close at all...whoever wins it I expect it will be by 4-8 points of the popular vote and, more importantly, a hefty electoral college margin. -

I don't think Romney is raising or spending nearly as much as Obama, Mike and the evidence seems to show that Obama's fundraising over the internet doesn't seem to give a damn about where it's coming from (given that he hasn't turned on any of the controls easily available to him to spot fraudulent / foreign contributions). RobertNashville replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It seems to me there are a lot more people unhappy with the "parties" and in particular, the GOP and its candidate than there are those willing to actually do anything about it other than post on internet boards. I wouldn't even be surprised if about two out of three aren't even registered let alone voted in the primaries or will vote in the general election...I don't know how people expect thing to change when most people won't even engage in the process. -
It happens...it happens to me about every third time I buy but then eventually approved. Once it happened when on a Friday I bought a Glock 30...was looking at a shotgun but was undecided. The sale for the Glock went through fine; went back the next day to buy the shotgun and it was denied (that was the same month I was initially issued my HCP!). It makes me wonder what the hell is up with the whole process.

Finally made it to the range with my G32 (357 sig)
RobertNashville replied to dieewigeteufel's topic in Handguns
We we can ever get to a range at the same time you are welcome to use my G31, Mike. As to it being a wimpy caliber; it definitely isn't - it carries quite a punch and, because of its relatively small size still allows a lot of capacity...my G31 is my primary carry gun these days (has been for about a year and a half now); I still love my 45s and my 10MM but as an all-around PD caliber, I think he .357SIG is hard to beat. -
Great write-up...appreciate you doing so!

I didn't mean to imply that the faults belong only to Fox news, all that I mentioned as well as others (Levin, Hanity, Valentine) have faults.I think Fox is the only network that tries to be what all the new networks used to try and be 30 or 40 years ago but the networks weren't perfect then nor is Fox perfect now. -
I don't believe they are "uninvited", technically or otherwise. FedEx guys don't usually try to deliver a package that either you didn't ask for or that someone you have some kind of relationship with needs to get to you. But regardless of whether the FedEx guy is there because you asked for a delivery or he's got the wrong house; he has an much right to defend himself from harm as anyone else doesn't he??? If my dog attacks him and is capable of inflicting real damage then, as heart-broken as I would be I would still understand what he had to do. In other words, I believe the law would see this imaginary FedEx guy (our UPS guy or USPS worker, etc.) as an innocent party who was not doing anything illegal and, therefor, a person with the legal right to defend him/he self.

RobertNashville replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I can which is sad. Our nation desperately needs news organizations that are willing to put bias aside (as much as in humanly possible) and actually REPORT the NEWS and will follow the truth no matter where it leads...we need that regardless of what party is in power or who is in the White House and for many years now, we just don't have that. Say what you want about "personalities" but if not for the likes of Beck and Limbaugh and Fox News (even with all their faults), we would have lost this republic a long time ago. What Obama did (or more to the point, didn't do) with regards to our Ambassador and the brave men who died trying to help fellow Americans should have Obama in front of firing squad rather than having a chance at re-election.
