  1. It happens...it happens to me about every third time I buy but then eventually approved. Once it happened when on a Friday I bought a Glock 30...was looking at a shotgun but was undecided. The sale for the Glock went through fine; went back the next day to buy the shotgun and it was denied (that was the same month I was initially issued my HCP!). It makes me wonder what the hell is up with the whole process.
  2. We we can ever get to a range at the same time you are welcome to use my G31, Mike. As to it being a wimpy caliber; it definitely isn't - it carries quite a punch and, because of its relatively small size still allows a lot of capacity...my G31 is my primary carry gun these days (has been for about a year and a half now); I still love my 45s and my 10MM but as an all-around PD caliber, I think he .357SIG is hard to beat.
  3. Great write-up...appreciate you doing so!
  4. I didn't mean to imply that the faults belong only to Fox news, all that I mentioned as well as others (Levin, Hanity, Valentine) have faults.I think Fox is the only network that tries to be what all the new networks used to try and be 30 or 40 years ago but the networks weren't perfect then nor is Fox perfect now.
  5. I don't believe they are "uninvited", technically or otherwise. FedEx guys don't usually try to deliver a package that either you didn't ask for or that someone you have some kind of relationship with needs to get to you. But regardless of whether the FedEx guy is there because you asked for a delivery or he's got the wrong house; he has an much right to defend himself from harm as anyone else doesn't he??? If my dog attacks him and is capable of inflicting real damage then, as heart-broken as I would be I would still understand what he had to do. In other words, I believe the law would see this imaginary FedEx guy (our UPS guy or USPS worker, etc.) as an innocent party who was not doing anything illegal and, therefor, a person with the legal right to defend him/he self.
  6. I can which is sad. Our nation desperately needs news organizations that are willing to put bias aside (as much as in humanly possible) and actually REPORT the NEWS and will follow the truth no matter where it leads...we need that regardless of what party is in power or who is in the White House and for many years now, we just don't have that. Say what you want about "personalities" but if not for the likes of Beck and Limbaugh and Fox News (even with all their faults), we would have lost this republic a long time ago. What Obama did (or more to the point, didn't do) with regards to our Ambassador and the brave men who died trying to help fellow Americans should have Obama in front of firing squad rather than having a chance at re-election.
  7. Let's be honest; we (our entire country) would probably be far better off if there were no such thing as television; at least as an entertainment device. It reminds me of a quote from the Arnold Schwarzeneggar movie The Running Man...The game show host, Damon Killian (Richard Dawson's character) said... Don't get me wrong, there are shows I love to watch (or have loved to watch) and I know that TV can do good things (inform, educate, enlighten, etc.) but on the whole, I think we would all be better people if we turned off the TV a lot more than we do and read a books a lot more often than we do...there is a reason why the most successful people in life tend to be readers! As Thomas Jefferson said (and this is hanging in my library)..."I cannot live without books".
  8. Of course he was a "good kid"...I'm sure at trial there will be plenty of pics of the a**ho** when he was 13, cute and innocent.
  9. You absolutely can be sued; depending on 10,000 factors such a suit may or may not get very far and if the shooting was justified the SD shooter should eventually prevail but don't kid yourself that you may not go through hell in the meantime and put out some considerable $$$ in the process.
  10. Oh...well...considering that the father raised a meth head I'm not surprised that he would be looking for an easy payday from his son's victim!
  11. I had a 512 on my SCAR but finally decided to switch to a Trijicon Reflex; I find the Trijicon easier to use and no batteries, switches, etc to worry about...you just mount the rifle to your shoulder and you are ready to go. That said, I don't think you would be going wrong with a 512; I just decided I wanted something else.
  12. It's a real shame that the victim's aim wasn't better but kudos to him for getting lose and planting one in the thug's jaw. I'm hoping for a jury that has people with some common sense (which can be difficult to find in CA).
  13. Nah...if I'm going to do a write in I want the Captain and First Office of the Enterprise!!!!
  14. Comcast is against my religion! I would go back to rabbit ears before I'll ever be a Comcast customer again...about 15 years ago I had Comcast and then cancelled them altogether for a while. I returned their "receiver" to their office in Murfreesboro but the clerk was too busy/didn't have a receipt book to give me a receipt for it (that was, of course, my mistake)...even today, some 15 years later, Comcast still thinks I owe them money for their receiver and every now and then I get the occasional call form a debt collector threatening to take me to court if I don't pay immediately. My usual response goes something like..."please do, at least then I might have a chance of talking to someone about this issue that actually has a couple of working brain cells".
  15. I have always and always will vote my conscious and my conscious is very clear having already voted for Mit Romney for President. Had RP won the nomination I would be voting for him...in fact, I can't think if anyone who has run for the nomination or Gary Johnson for that matter that I wouldn't be happy to vote for this election. Nevertheless, I believe this paper's endorsement, is stupid and useless because it's based on a faulty premise, that being that voting for a Gary Johnson is going to send some kind of "message" to the big Republican party powerful. Horsefeathers. Gary Johnson will be lucky if he gets even 1% of the vote but even if he stunned everyone and got 5% of the vote he isn't going to change how the Republican party operates because those in power don't really give a damn. The only thing that will change the Republican party is to change it from the inside...for communities and states to run true Conservatives even if the "party" doesn't like them...get them in office and put them in power...that is how the party can be changed; not by voting for third-party candidate that has zero chance of winning. If someone wants to vote for Gary Johnson, write in Ron Paul or vote for the Piccard/Riker ticket it's fine with me but if you think doing so is going to change the Republican party then I believe you are deceiving yourself.
  16. I carry Defense Shield provided through the USCCA; I'm happy that I do and would recommend it or a similar product to everyone who carries. We do have some pretty good laws in TN to protect a shooter when the shooting is justified and as I was just reminded a couple of days ago, a new law just recently went into effect in TN that even makes things better (in a nutshell, if you face charges/are sued and found innocent/not liable the loser pays your attorney fees - someone please correct me if I'm wrong). That said, should you ever be involved in a SD shooting you had better be prepared to shell out some up-front money (and likely some substantial up-front money) for legal fees, etc. Now, your homeowners umbrella policy may or may not fill that gap but even if it does it may only do so after the fact...at the very least, be sure you KNOW before you need it and find out the hard way. I am not a salespeson for USCCA but I think it's a good product...it's not the only product out there so check around. Bottom line is, I think this kind of coverage is a VERY good thing to have.
  17. I'm wondering if you could comment on something... In the past couple of years I've taken the two-day Fighting Pistol" class from Tactical Response, a one day Combat Pistol course from Sealed Mindset (taught by retired SEAL Lt. Cmdr Larry Yach) and the level 1 and level 2 pistol classes from RangeMaster in Memphis. I'm wondering if I should I be at all concerned about taking, in this case, pistol classes from multiple sources because one thing I've noticed is that everybody has their own ways of doing things and they don't always agree with one another. So...do you think it more or less beneficial to take similar training from multiple sources or to concentrate on taking training from one source?
  18. Colin Powell was once one of those wasn't he and look how screwed up he seems to be now? Still claiming he's a Republican but willing still endorsing Obama; apparently willing to overlook the simple truth that Obama has failed at everything he's tried during his first term.Maybe making it to General isn't what it used to be back when I was in uniform.
  19. I'm with you on this.I've had this argument with a couple of liberal friends of mine and they've yet to explain to me how the voter ID law keeps anyone from voting, except of course, those who can't legally vote. It's beyond ridiculous for anyone to claim that anyone eligible to vote in TN can't do so for lack of an ID...the state will practically send a state trooper to hand deliver one to you if you can't find any other way to get one but more to the point, how many people who are eligible to vote and want to vote don't already have an acceptable ID already? The only people really being disenfranchised this election are our military members stationed oversees.
  20. I wonder how many they are sending to Chicago? After all, all those dead people have a difficult time getting around so I hope someone helps them get back after they've voted.I guess the one's that died before the horseless carriage days (and therefore have no DL) are just SOL and disenfranchised. ROTFLMAO
  21. I too am a Crossbreed Supertuck user...I carry everything from full-sized 1911s to Glock 20, 21 and 31 and find these holsters to be be both very comfortable and allow me to conceal easily and pretty deeply if I need to. All things being equal I would carry OWB but I prefer to be concealed (or able to conceal as easy as possible) so IWB works for me!
  22. You'll never see them...even if Dish knows and/or kept track of people who left claiming that was the reason, they'll never release them. I suspect they lost some but I'd say that there are more people who will complain about something like that than actually go through the hassle of changing providers so in the end, it probably had more to do with wanting to attract new customers than keep from losing existing ones.
  23. I spend far too much on DirectTV and I wish I could just order the specific channels I want instead of all the stuff I never watch but but accountant/financial professional inside of me knows why that can't work for these service providers. Most of the TV shows and really all the movies I watch I get from online services (Netflix, Amazon, PlayStation)...as far as actual TV channels I can count on one hand the ones I actually watch with any regularity. In my own defense, however, I do read at least one non-fiction and usually one fiction book per month to make up for all the crap on TV.
  24. Well, it appears that someone there actually does have a brain! It's my understanding that they don't have a lot of customers as it is...I apologize for any out there who love Dish Network but after having them and then moving to DirectTV a few years ago I wouldn't go back to Dish for any offer they could come up with! Just my $0.02 of course.
