  1. I'm working on ONLY being 30lbs overweight and the SuperTucks work great for me; I've no reason to think they wouldn't work for you just as well.
  2. Whether it's just his personality or whether it's actually something of substance; I suppose what I don't get is why anyone would post a video just so they can insult the guy. If there is someone I don't like or that I think is a "tool" I tend to (or at least try to) ignore them; not watch their videos and then post about them.
  3. No pictures but I thought it was worth posting. Attributed to Senator Vest (1869) represented the plaintiff in a lawsuit whose dog "Old Drum" had been willfully and wantonly shot by a neighbor. The defendant virtually admitted the shooting, but questioned to the jury the $150 value plaintiff attributed to this mere animal. To give his closing argument, George Vest rose from his chair, scowling, mute, his eyes burning from under the slash of brow tangled as a grape vine. Then he stepped sideways, hooked his thumbs in his vest pockets, his gold watch fob hanging motionless, it was that heavy. He looked, someone remembered afterwards, taller than his actual 5 feet 6 inches, and began in a quiet voice to deliver an extemporaneous oration. It was quite brief, less than 400 words: "Gentlemen of the jury: the best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his worst enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it the most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads. The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous... is his dog. Gentlemen of the Jury: a man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard against danger, to fight against his enemies, and when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death."
  4. Personal insults only show the weakness of the argument....he didn't say anything I didn't agree with nor did he say anything that I haven't heard many, many instructors say on the subject. So, pray tell, exactly what did he say that is so objectionable or wrong??? Edit: And another thing, if he is such a tool, why are people who think so watching his video's in the first place?
  5. I've no idea what business you are in but I would think you could find an alternative to the USPS couldn't you? I mean, to a large degree, it's those alternatives that is causing much of the problems at the postal service. Anyway, I guess "HUGE" could be a matter of one's perspective but I'd say it's huge... This was reported in early August... Source: http://www.businessw...5-dot-2-billion
  6. Well, call me a pansy or whatever but I don't see how it's worth facing criminal charges or a civil lawsuit (or more likely, both) just so I can physically remove someone from my property and as far as I can tell, and I've been looking at TN's law since my earlier post, a property owner simply doesn't have the right to forceably remove a trespasser (if "trespassing" is all he is doing). I guess what bothers me about issues like this (and this is a generic observation, not directed at anyone in particular) is that gun owners who have chosen to carry for SD purposes seem pretty quick to promote "their rights" and "the law" until following the law interferes with something they like or want or feel entitled to do. We like to promote the fact that those who carry are "law-abiding citizens" yet it seems there are more than few who will, for example, carry past a sign, even though it's illegal to do so or are willing to physically lay hands on a trespasser even though the law doesn't allow it. I also can't help but wonder, amid all this bravado, who here has actually HAD a trespasser on their property that refused to leave after being told to do so? I mean, is this really a big problem that I'm not aware of? The only trespassers I've had a problem with are a couple of local school kids walking between my and my neighbors house to get to there house after the bus dropped them off (a problem I took care of with a liberal sprinkling of my dog's leavings in in the path they liked to use).
  7. I'd would bet that they are going to go away unless USPS bigwigs can pull some money out of their asses or the businesses that like their cheep mail are willing to pay a LOT more for it. Even the USPS can't go on bleeding cash indefinitely.
  8. This statement bothers me a bit. Maybe I'm all wrong on this but I don't think a property owner has any legal right to lay hands on a trespasser in order to remove him/her from his property unless the trespasser started the physical altercation. I would think that if a property owner did what you describe above he could be charged with and found guilty of assault and/or aggravated assault.
  9. None of my bills come through the mail. Actually, there is almost zero need for actual mail delivery today. What little might actually need to be physically delivered can be handled by the private sector; everything else can be done faster, easier, and more inexpensively by electronic means; that is, of course, whey the USPS is losing money in HUGE amounts. I don't blame the post office for this; not just the USPS has been caught between a rock and a hard place by the huge societal changes we've seen over the past 20 years or so (although the USPS, given its bureaucratic mentality has probably been the slowest to respond to the changes).
  10. I have a SIG Scorpion and a C3 and I agree, I think the quality, fit and finish of the SIG 1911s are very underrated...if someone wants a really nice 1911 but doesn't want to pay the prices that Nighthawk, Ed Brown, WC, and LB command I think these are the way to go!
  11. I'm getting ready to replace mine...maybe if someone stole it my insurance would cover the cost???
  12. The mods I've made to all my Glocks are sights....I really haven't had a problem with the factory mag release or slide stop although I think they are good mods. Other than that, I just shoot them.
  13. He ought to have no trouble at all since all he has to do is look in the mirror. It's a real shame our country doesn't take traitorous acts seriously or use firing squads any longer.
  14. Interesting video! Thanks for posting.
  15. I've never missed a general election since turning 18, even when I was deployed oversees...I think I've missed no more than two primary elections and only because there simply wasn't anything I felt I needed to vote on. I voted for Romney last week and did so happily and I did not feel as if I was doing so only because there wasn't a better choice. I've no illusions about Romney being a perfect president but he may well be the perfect man we need as president for this particular moment in time...Romney may well be exactly the type of person the country needs to at least start to put the brakes on the out of control socialist government we've been heading into for far too long. I've been watching the crowds (size and enthusiasm) Romney is generating at his public appearances - I think the thought that most people are voting for him only because there isn't a better option is a bit misguided and perhaps based more on their personal feelings rather then what is actually happening "out there".
  16. I concur...given the slaps on wrists they give to some who do far more dangerous things, I don't think this lady deserves much "punishment".That said, I'm also not sure I want her carrying a loaded firearm either....seems to me she either is a bit on the stupid side or she knew she was breaking the law and didn't care...either way, I don't think she is the type of person that should be carrying.
  17. I'm surprised it wasn't already posted too...thanks for doing so. I'd heard about it on Saturday night through a FB post...glad to know that no one was hurt and that most of their inventory was saved.. Best wishes to G&L as they rebuild...certainly a tough break for any retailer heading into the Christmas season.
  18. I made the assumption that the ###hole killed the troops because he assumed they would be a threat to his control/leadership and who knows, they might have turned out to be. Not making excuses for the governor of course...it really pissed me off to see that massacre and I look forward to a show where, I hope, he'll get what's coming to him.
  19. I concur. I've been an aficionado of the 10MM since about 1993 when I bought my first 10MM handgun (a Cold Double Eagle purchased in the fall of 1993 - it was sort of a protest buy just before the wonderful Brady Bill went into effect). The Cold DE is gone (as are other firearms I still wish I owned) but I have a couple of other 1911s in 10MM - overall, however, I don't think anything can beat the G20 for 10MM accuracy, performance and control. It's just damn fun to shoot and I usually have it on me either as my primary weapon or as my bug.
  20. There is a reason why these third-tier candidates are third-tier and it isn't just because of the two big, bad major parties as some folks want everyone to believe.
  21. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that good, well run polling organizations have/will find a way to compensate for this societal switch; and, this switch has been going on quite a while now to the point that it's almost the "norm". Cell phone numbers aren't secret and can be learned (or robot-dialed)...plus, many people who have switched ported their land-line number to their cell phone...many people give out their cell phone numbers all the time to various organizations. So, I don't think that someone having only a cell phone necessarily means they won't be polled. I stopped using a land-line for actual telephone conversations at least 10 years ago yet I still get called by various companies asking my opinion about one thing or another. So...a wrinkle? Could be. Game changing? I don't think so.
  22. I mean no disrespect to anyone here but I think some have a bit of a simplistic view of how a truly good and accurate poll is put together. I don't mean to say that I'm any kind of an expert on the matter, far from it...but I've been following political polls for a few decades now (well, at least 4+ decades) and have picked up enough information here and there to at least understand that how questions are crafted, how the polls are conducted and, more importantly, how that data is interpreted is both art and science. I don't put complete faith in polls but I do know that the organizations that do their job well are usually pretty damn close to the final result.
  23. Maybe I'm all wet but I don't believe the actual election will be close at all...whoever wins it I expect it will be by 4-8 points of the popular vote and, more importantly, a hefty electoral college margin.
  24. I don't think Romney is raising or spending nearly as much as Obama, Mike and the evidence seems to show that Obama's fundraising over the internet doesn't seem to give a damn about where it's coming from (given that he hasn't turned on any of the controls easily available to him to spot fraudulent / foreign contributions). Source: http://washingtonexa...05#.UI1JJYYvOX8
  25. It seems to me there are a lot more people unhappy with the "parties" and in particular, the GOP and its candidate than there are those willing to actually do anything about it other than post on internet boards. I wouldn't even be surprised if about two out of three aren't even registered let alone voted in the primaries or will vote in the general election...I don't know how people expect thing to change when most people won't even engage in the process.
