All of this for a Coyote hunt, a varmint hunt, in compliance with state and local laws?? Written threats against family members of the gun store staff. Waaaaaaay uncool and actionable. Police and FBI involved. Good. The airhead CNN reporter goes out of her way to mention the date and time of the protest. Way uncool and complicit. The report says two police will be present at the protest to ensure things don't get out of control. It'll probably be more like SIX law enforcement officers, four of them undercover. Expect video to be recorded to identify the cast of characters and potential perps. Here's another name for the protesters in this context: Coyotes.
What do you expect, Dan...the Mensa-types that would make these kind of threats are are the same types of people who go to Occupy demonstrations and hold up signs that say things like "Who Needs Oil...I Ride The Bus".
This countrys freedoms was brought about by patriots who stood up revolted and warred among themselves. If everyone would have just got out of the country who didnt want to live as slaves or bow down to what they knew was wrong, only those like you would remain. Folks like Robert Nashville, LINKS2K, HvyMtl and the like could all be servants to the power that be , in my ancestors and family we have done just that, and sacrificed life for the freedoms of this nation, so you probably wouldnt understand. Dont try to imitate patriotism by standing behind the ones who enslave you.
What a pile of Bovine Scatology. Who the hell do you think you are judging me and others who you don't know jack #### about?

Revolution (the TV show)
Banana Republic is teotw compliant But apparently oil refineries and cars can not survive without juice. Not like they existed before electricity yano
Actually, having once worked in the oil/gas industry, running a refinery without electricity would be very difficult. It could be done but the refitting necessary would be difficult given no electricity to do anything. I'm still enjoying the show...it's not "Walking Dead" but it's not that bad either....then again, my life it pretty dull so it doesn't take much to entertain me. -
By the way, anyone counting on anything good out of either this Congress in its remaining 50 days or the next one, is, I'm afraid, going to be sorely disappointed as will be anyone expecting anything out of the axis of evil in charge of Tennessee (Haslam, Ramsey & Harwell)...it's time to duck and cover and keep your ass out of harm's way as much as possible.

I have always been a Republican because it was the only party that was the most aligned with my views. However, I stopped calling myself a "Republican" quite a long time ago. About three presidential elections ago I stopped giving any money to the "party" at all and instead, gave only to specific candidates and PAC/organizations that I believed in. At this point, I'm just about done with the whole stinking mess. About 6 years ago, a good friend from my Ohio high school days who was VERY politically active retired and moved to Alaska. He was an Air Force pilot and then went to work for FedEx out of Memphis. After moving to Alaska he has totally disengaged himself form all politics or anything that looks like politics. He says he's never been happier or more content. That's looking pretty good to me right now. I can't afford to just "retire" and move to Alaska but I do think I can disengage (and keep my weapons handy and fully charged).

UN ARMS TREATY AGAIN ALREADY?!?!?!
I wish the conservative members of the house and senate would counteract this nonsense by starting to introduce their own far-right legislation. Keep the liberals on the defensive instead of offense...
Would those be the same conservatives who now, just two days post election, have indicated they are willing to cave on both taxes and illegal aliens??? -
Yeah it's kind of funny but mostly sad when earning less money actually puts more in you pocket...
I'm also hoping the new job is close enough that I can walk or bicycle to it relatively easy; that way when gasoline is $12/gallon I can still get to work (or best yet, work from home).
And how much more are you willing to spend to support those businesses? 20%, 33% or even a 50% mark up? And this is during normal times, not the "scary" times...
Please tell me, where in my post above did I indicate that people should deal with unscrupulous, price gouging firearms dealers??? I've reread my post several times and don't see where I said anything even remotely encouraging that. I only deal with honest dealers who have scruples and charge fair prices and if I pay a little more to do so then so be it; I have never and will never suggest anyone do otherwise. I've never seen those kind of mark-ups you mention but if I did I wouldn't buy from such dealers. There is both truth and a worthwhile warning in the phrase "buyer beware". I don't deal with unscrupulous dealers of anything whether they are a firearms shop or hardware store or appliance dealer and I don't buy stuff from WalMart.

I'm actually considering changing jobs to one where I make substantially less money as I'll have less responsibility and it will put me back at an income level where I'll start to qualify for all tax credits and deductions I can't currently take. Yeah...elections have consequences.
I've actually been waiting on this book to come out for months but the reviews on Amazon and another forum are really negative. Robert, I have this book, if you want to swap let me know and I'll send you my address. I really enjoyed it. It's a 3 part series and I'm about to order book 2. http://www.amazon.co...lding their own
thanks for the offer but I can't swap because most of the books I order these, except for signed first editions, are Kindle books! I'll have to look this one up thought, it sounds good.
I'm buying ammo and guns form Ruger, Colt, Remington, Mossberg, Smith & Wesson, Winchester, CCI, Federal, etc., and don't much care which place stocks it for the best price, and files the 4473s. An American company, hiring Americans, selling as many American made products as anyone else, making money for American investors and paying American taxes. Only in America could such an American success story have so many American detractors.
And I buy my guns and ammo from businesses that exist to support the firearms community and which are generally, albeit not always, owned and staffed by firearm enthusiasts like myself because I care a more that those business continue to exist a lot more than I care if WalMart exists.
You may know, but I would be willing to bet money that most people, that includes some here, that are criticizing did not know.
Yeah...but it was an Obama idiot (i.e. supporter) that coined the phrase "Obamaphone"; at least if I recall that video correctly - it was those folks I was using the phrase to identify - I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter to her or to those like here, how the program first began.

Meet and Greet - Nashvilel Armory
RobertNashville replied to RobertNashville's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Well, since no one has said they will come tonight, let's table this and meet next Thursday night (Nov 15th). I know some can't come that night but there is no reason why we can't make this a regular meet and greet. -
Ex Felon Arrested After Shooting Intruders
RobertNashville replied to xRUSTYx's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just one of many examples of why I think a felony conviction should not preclude legal firearm ownership forever. If someone is a danger to society he should still be IN JAIL. If he is no longer a danger to society and has served his sentence then I think his rights, including 2A rights should be restored. Someone who once committed a felony should not, in my opinion, forever lose the right to defend his life with the best tools we have available (which right now is a firearm...maybe someday it will be ray-gun). -
...FWIW, the Obamaphone is nothing new, although it is more frequent in its usage. The original program was Lifeline and it was created under the Reagan administration. During GW's term, cell phones started to be handed out. The whole thing is more entitlement freebie bs, but at least be fair in your criticism.
We know...but the idiot on video a few weeks ago doesn't...facts are immaterial where Obama and his supporters are concerned. Frankly, I wouldn't care if it had been initiated by George Washington himself; it's still not the government's business to use my money to pay for someone's telecommunication needs.

What I learned on Nov. 6th 2012

Give it up guys; arguing with strickj is only slightly less a waste of time than arguing with me. -
I don’t drink milk; all I have to go there for is American made ammo. As soon as I find a better place online I’ll order it and won’t have to go there at all. But so far that hasn’t happened. They are the indispensable ammo store and from the looks of things they might become the indispensable gun store.
Have you looked at ammunitiontogo.com ? I don't know if their prices are as good or worse or whatever (because WallyWorld is against my religion) but I've had exceptional service from them and they usually have what I want when I want it.
People dont care as long as the mail is delievered on the 1st and 15th
That about sums it up. Most of these as*h***s won't care about anything unless their Obamaphone stops working.

If the ultimate purpose is to have something appropriate for personal defense I would not buy anything less than a 9MM. I realize the smaller calibers are popular with many and the adage of "any gun of any caliber you have with you is better than any gun of any caliber you don't" has merit but as an only/first gun I just wouldn't waste my time with the smaller calibers.
-
Before I'd buy an AK and/or anything in a different caliber than your AR, I'd concentrate on ammo. Then, if funds permit, I would buy another AR in the same caliber (I'm assuming it's in 5.56) and go back to concentrating on ammo. My next purchase, assuming funds permit, would be something dependable in 308 assuming you have the funds to have plenty of ammo for it. I will admit a little bias here because while I respect the durability of the AK it has never been a favorite rifle of mine nor do I really like the round that much.

What I learned on Nov. 6th 2012
RobertNashville replied to Smith's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Regardless of the purpose of the engravings on our buildings and phrases on our currency, to ignore the religious, mostly Christian, underpinnings of our Nation is to simply refrain from rational thought. I've read biographies of many of our founders...I've read many of their own writings....I didn't know them personally and do not know what they professed to their closest friends, but when I read their writings and biographies and see how they conducted themselves I reach the inescapable conclusion that these were men and women of faith. They may not all have had faith in exactly the same God or even a single god but they clearly seemed to believe in something eternal and greater than themselves. I would suggest both their belief in personal freedom/liberty/justice as well as their abiding faith and its importance is expressed most clearly in the the very wording of the first amendment. I have been, at times, a man of faith and a man who has strongly questioned the validity of a belief in any god - I've lived far less than a "Christian" life at times. However, as I look at my life as a whole, I find myself much prouder of my life and my actions during the periods when my faith was strongest and a major part of my life. Whether any God/god is "real" or not, I can't help but conclude that as a group, people who try to live a life as encouraged by the Bible are better people and better citizens than those who profess no faith in God at all. -
I'm not surprised if anyone hadn't read it or even heard of it yet...it only just shipped to my Kindle on Monday or Tuesday. I'm roughly a quarter of the way through it and it's been a good read so far although not as dramatic as "Lights Out" (or at least as I recall it).
