It isn't just grumpy old men who do this, unfortunately...sometimes it's burly, police officers who apparently are afraid of little dogs...do you all remember this piece of dirt Cookville LEO who shot a small family dog in 2010 during a botched (i.e. wrong car) traffic stop? http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=125436&page=1#.UKZdoWenLQg

Meet and Greet - Nashvilel Armory
RobertNashville replied to RobertNashville's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Guys I truly hate to bow out of this on such short notice but I've been home all day with a temporary crown that has had a big problem...after spending time at the dentist I've tried to work from home but there is just no way I can get into Nashville tonight; thank God for extra strength Tylenol. I hope some of you can get together and I promise we will do this sometime...maybe the Tuesday or Thursday the first week after Thanksgiving??? -
Wounded Warrior Project - disappointment
RobertNashville replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, nothing they've said so far has impressed me so I'm done with them unless something really changes. I don't care as much about their stand on guns as much as I care about what appears to be duplicity on the issue. There are plenty of good organizations out there helping veterans that deserve support. -
Wounded Warrior Project - disappointment
RobertNashville replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It sounds a lot like "I'm personally opposed to abortion but support a woman's right to choose" I really hate it when people or organizations won't just say what the hell they mean and won't take a stand which is what this sounds like to me. -
Wounded Warrior Project - disappointment
RobertNashville replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Thanks for posting the story. It sounds like they've really stepped in it, realize it, and I don't know what to do about it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how they respond now; but the fact they appear to have to think about it is bothersome. -
One of the managers at NA told me that they did plan to hold IDPA matches soon and were working with someone who recently moved to TN who has had a lot of experience setting up stats inside. I'm sure, however, that reloaded ammo will not be allowed since it already isn't allowed (per their insurance policies). Hopefully we'll here something official in the near future!!!

With all of the talk about civil unrest and secession...
RobertNashville replied to Links2k's topic in General Chat
I wonder.... What if we do have secession...What if the Federal government collapses under the weight of its own idiocy...What if we do have a second American Revolutionary War...What then? The real problem with our country is not really in Washington D.C.; it's in the hearts of the people...you can have revolution after revolution but when the last shot is fired you still have the people and the people, not the "politicians" and not the "unions" and not the "lobbyists"; its' the PEOPLE who are the problem. The first American Revolution worked NOT just because we defeated the British; it worked because we had strong, independent minded people who were capable and WILLING to take care of themselves and men of exceptional principles and morals who were willing to be servant-leaders. -
Robert, nullification absolutely can work. It would take a vast majority of the states to do it, more like a Constitutional Convention, which isn't really nullification, but it could be overtaken by the states. Obamacare is only constitutional in the narrow interpretation of taxation only. The rest can be bitten away by the states like not starting those exchanges, that are not even funded by the bill. It probably will take a vast majority of participation to accomplish it, though.
I would like to think you are right...I don't...but I'd like to think so because, as Baron just indicated, we don't have strong individual states or strong individual people anymore, at least not strong enough to stand up to the Federal government. Even Haslem with the state exchanges, he isn't trying to decide what is the "right" think to do, he's simply trying to decide what is the least expensive (to TN) to do (I stole that from Ralph Bristol this morning). Trying to stop the Federal government from what it really wants to do is a bit like fighting an aggressive cancer, you can fight it if you want and you may even stall it for a while but you don't often truly "win" the war.
I also posted this Robert "Now I will say on rare occassions that the innocent are wrongly found guilty but it is a rarity and not the norm. " Dolomite
I know...but every time a person is wrongfully convicted (and often even just accused) their life can become a nightmare and may never be the same. I don't have an answer for that but I still hate that it happens.
Thanks Robert I agree taxes should be as low and equitable possible. Of course that is a difficult calculation we probably don't currently know enough to perform at the moment. But I agree completely. If tax cuts always improve economic activity (which is just another form of keynsian stimulus when paired with deficit spending), then after the numerous and deep tax cuts in the 21st century, why does the economy suck so bad? There have been at least five giant tax cuts but things have been getting worse! In order to be considered valid, shouldn't a theory at least somewhat match reality?
Oh...maybe spending money you don't have...printing worthless money...mountains of regulations....just lowering taxes while doing everything else wrong is may help but all those other issues are going to blunt the effect.
And if the accused plead guilty or was found guilty then they are guilty.
I know that's not what we are talking about here but when I read a line like that I can't help think of the people who have been found guilty of rape or even of murder and sentenced to death then later, with DNA evidence not available when there were tried and convicted, showed that the guilty were not guilty at all.

Lester, you make great posts but I don't have time to read a book on a forum. We have to have taxes to fund the legitimate functions of government; I'm not nor do I think anyone is saying we shoudl have no taxes (of course the U.S. operated with no income tax for many, many decades) but history has shown us that lowering taxes increases economic activity; raising does exactly the opposite. Moreover, except for what it absolutely has to have to perform its vital functions, it is simply evil and immoral for a government to confiscate wealth from those who produce it...for that reason alone and regardless of what taxes do to the economy, taxes should be as low and as fairly imposed as possible.

I don't believe nullification does or can work. Specifically with regards to Obamacare, for example, I believe SCOTUS has already said FU to the states. I think a state can say we aren't going to help you install your programs but I don't think they can stop a damn thing.
Honestly I could care less if you supported midgets wearing drag, teaching sex ed at schools. And I don't see the point of reporting moderators to another moderator. I just feel that you involved emotions and you lost your objectivity in your decision to remove his link. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent Red Tapatalk 2
I reported it...it's my understanding that the "report" goes to all moderators and, hopefully, it might at least generate a little discussion and perhaps a better explanation of what was wrong with the OP posting the link. I agree, and I mean no disrespect to Dolomite, but it sounded to me as if the decision to remove the link was made on emotion rather than a concrete reason/violation of TOS, etc. If it's reasonable and IAW TOS to, for example, discuss the pros/cons of restoration of rights to convicted felons, then we ought to be able to discuss the pros/cons of restoration of rights of someone convicted of a misdemeanor.

John Kerry as the next Secretary of Defense?
RobertNashville replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Why not? Let's give them everything they want. The faster the drive it in the ground, the faster we can crucify them with public support.
I'd like to think the public would wise up and rise up but I'm not so sure...we may have really reached a tipping point where not enough people truly care or are truly paying enough attention to do the right thing and they'll just keep voting for whoever promises them the most free stuff. -
We had a small group meet last fall at MCSC; we had a good time!
If it comes from the UN, I consider it evil at face value. Nothing good will come from that organization. The last thing the UN did that was good was a long time ago concerning the state of Israel. Now, they want to unravel that. Evil enough? Agenda 21 is nothing but more of the same evil progressive crap.
And it's all wrapped up in such bland terms as "sustainable development" and "protecting the environment", etc. It is just about every program the UN has put out in the past 40 years tied up in a bow.

The way I described this on Amazon was that if you were looking for ways to secure your neighborhood, militia tactics or how to defeat MZBs this was not the book you wanted to read. Frankly, I didn't like how it ended, yet I did...I know that doesn't make a lot of sense but if I said more I'd give the ending away.
the decliration is not a binding document. It was a letter of intent sent to the king. There was no USA at the time. However the sentiment is still there.
Actually, the declaration is part of the U.S.Code...is is law as much as any other law in the U.S. -
Don't marry and crazy broad and don't plead guilty to a crime you didn't commit. We all make choices blah blah blah....
I guess I was lucky, my ex wasn't a crazy woman but if I had a crystal ball as good as yours must be I would not have married her in the first place.
...A bruise is all it takes IMHO.
I'm not going to go into any detail but I've known women who would and did bruise very easily just from a very consensual and mild sexual encounter. I'm no expert on the matter nor am I trying to make light of the very real and very dangerous situation women (and men for that matter) can face from domestic violence; I just don't like the way the deck seems to be stacked against the accused in domestic violence situations and how untenable the situation could be for the accused; even if he has done nothing wrong.

Just finished this moments ago...a good read; different than "Lights Out" in how the story progresses. Whether it's as "good" or not I'll leave to other readers but I don't regret the time spend reading it.
Voting machine Fraud? Unlikely. Several of the voting machine companies, like the ones in Ohio, were supposedly big GOP donators. Unless it is all a conspiracy, give the GOP donations, so we can lull them into not watching us, so we can then swap votes to Dems... Nice post of a conspiracy theory.
If someone does something to my computer to cause a problem, is it the computer manufacturer's fault or the fault of the person who did the act? If a voting machine is hacked/tampered with in some way, does it matter who the manufacturer of the machine was? There IS voter fraud, I think a lot of it and no one, especially the Democratic power structures and their ilk (the ACLU, etc) want to do anything about it. That means, unfortunately, that the ONLY way around it is for the election to not be so close that the fraud can push the election in the direction it wants.
