  1. What I would of wouldn't be willing to "give up" is immaterial in a hypothetical situation; especially a situation with no underlying information or details presented.   More to the point, you seemed to make it very clear above that you don't believe any compromise should be entertained (based on your Law Dog post)...if so, I can't see any possible reason you would want me to answer your question and give my opinion other than to have some hay to make hay bails out out of so no, I'm don't care to give it.
  2. Just received this response to my email - came very quickly too! As far as what is really going on; I've no idea but if they are going to sell-out to be politically correct then I wish them a quick end.
  3. I'm not telling you or anyone else what they have to or should be willing to give up.   If you believe compromise is that bad then the question you need to ask yourself is how willing are you to not compromise at all and wind up with NOTHING?   Whatever the answer to that question is; go for it.
  4. :) I can't wait until you read the comment I just made to you in another thread. :)
  5. I wasn't asking anyone to honor any position...just stating how things are at the moment.  I work to change the laws but while they are in place, I also do my best to obey them.   If someone goes to jail because they ignore the existing laws, how effective can they be in fighting tyranny from a cell? How will they provide for their family or loved ones who depend on them?   I'm not saying your position is wrong...just asking; because such questions, I think, need to be asked.   When it comes to an act/issue that could radically change my life for the worst, I ask myself "is THIS the hill I"m willing to die on").  If its then make peace with God and charge up the hill...if not I look for a way around it. ;)
  6. Maybe that has something to do with it. I just emailed them...we'll see what they say when/if they reply.
  7. If they are doing a "Dick's" move then it's even more disgusting than what Dick's is doing.   I don't believe I've ever bought anything form CTD but I sure see their ads on firearms related shows...I thought they were all and only about firearms???
  8. I've no doubt there will be a big push for a new AWB but whether they can actually get one through both houses or not is a very big IF at this point.   I suspect what we'll see is much more "under the table" type stuff rather than a frontal assault but I could be wrong...even very wrong.
  9. Not everything should be eligible for compromise but most should be and "never" is probably a word that is inappropriate to use when talking about compromising. It's generally better to compromise than to die...not always; but usually. Put another way, ask the question "is THIS the hill you want to die on?"...if it is then dig in, make your peace with God and go for it. If it isn't THAT hill then negotiate.
  10. The fact that rights are inalienable will not prevent one from going to jail for carrying illegally if a person is found doing so.   The law needs to be changed but recognizing that it exists at the moment doesn't mean everyone is just yielding...firearm owners tend to be law abiding citizens, even if we think a law is wrong. What we do, then (or should) is work to effect change and many of us are. Until the change occurs, however, anyone deciding to carry illegally should do so only after deliberation about the possible repercussions.
  11. I told them what I though to them on their Facebook page...lot's of pissed off people posting there.   Ultimately I don't care whether they carry firearms at all...I buy from real firearm dealers; not department stores.   Maybe one good thing about the tragedy is that it might become easier for the firearms community to identify who their real friends are and who are just enemies trying to look like friends.
  12. Please tell me which organization...ANY organization created around any issue that is perfect?   Are you spending time in Nashville or Washington D.C. when the legislature/Congress is in session to make sure your ideas and concerns are made known?  Do you spend time with the legislators who actually write and vote on these laws to help them come around to your viewpoint? We ALL know the NRA isn't perfect but I haven't heard anyone say they are. We can ignore these organizations if we want but if we do then we might as well go hide in our closets and hope that they don't come after our guns.
  13. That's true of course but I don't think that will make him feel better; probably quite the opposite actually. ;)
  14. A Google search will find most of them and often if you find one there will be links to others but here are a couple... GOA (Gun Owners of America) http://www.gunowners.org/   USCCA (United States Concealed Carry Association) http://www.usconcealedcarry.net/
  15. So? Were you living in Maryland at the time?  What was the political climate at the time (i.e. was something going to be passed whether the NRA got involved or not)? Do we really want to only have gun-hating liberals writing gun control laws or do we want some involvement from groups that may have another opinion/goal?   Not compromise?   Really?   Not compromising always sounds tough...the reality is that without compromise the one not willing to do so gets NOTHING.  We appear to have had a couple of million conservative voters sit out the last election because they weren't willing to compromise because Romney wasn't enough of "this" or wasn't enough of "that" or wasn't Ron Paul (at least that's the conventional wisdom in hindsight)...how's that lack of compromise working out so far? :screwy:   By the way, were I a woman and I knew I was about to be raped you are damn right I'd want the rapist to wear a condom.
  16. Gee...another thread complaining about the NRA...color me shocked,   I'm a life member, and proud of it.  I contribute to their legislative action as well since membership fees don't go to support legislative actions. No one here or probably anywhere have ever said the NRA is perfect and unless Jesus takes over and gets rid of all the people it never will be perfect.   If people care about their second amendment rights then they need to join every pro-2A organization they can find including the NRA, the GOA, the USCCA, their state organization (TFA here) and more...stop complaining on the interned and get involved.   Complaining about what the NRA or other organizations are or aren't doing when you aren't a member is pretty much the same as complaining about the results of elections when you were eligible to vote but couldn't bother yourself to get to the polls.   As to the "A" rating; I guess some, like the author of this article, don't understand that a current rating is based on PAST actions; current and future actions will be rated accordingly as happened to Maggart.
  17. I think I watched about one episode of each of those shows...I was not impressed.   I suspect this excuse is just window dressing to make it look like NBC is "sacrificing" for the "greater good". ROTFLMAO
  18. Yuup...I don't see enough Republicans (or even Democrats who are from firearm-friendly states) in the house going for this due to repercussions from the firearm enthusiasts in their districts (at least I would certainly hope there would be repercussions).
  19. Well, I wasn't referring to someone's lyrics in a song; I wasn't even referring to just this "one" incident.
  20. Yes...very true.
  21. Am I the only one bothered by the fact that we arrest people, and I don't just mean this one, for something they have said?   We speak a lot of rights here and the right to freedom of speech is one of them. We also, correctly I think, accept that not all speech is protected by the first amendment.   However, is a Facebook post really enough basis to arrest someone?  I'm not saying it is or is not...I just know I'm bothered by the concept.
  22. No, not really..."they" don't have to do anything much at all; at least not that requires physical intervention.   Most of what we consider "private" information never was private; it's just easier to find and access now and finding what they want to know is quite easy; especially when people so routinely spill their guts on internet forums and social media.  If you've ever posted it anywhere you should assume it will ALWAYS be available should anyone want to see it.   That's not 'tin foil" hat stuff; it's simply the truth.   Whether they are looking and whether they are looking at "you" can be debated but the government seems to be amassing vast amounts of information on pretty much everybody.
  23. I head this earlier today...I hope I live to see the day that Westboro has so receded from the public eye that no one alive remembers they ever existed.
  24. The smallest gun I carry is an officer's ACP but 95% of the time it's a Glock 31 or 21 or 20. I don't change due to weather.   Of course, I don't walk around in shorts and a t-shirt in the summer either (for which those who know me are infinitely grateful). ;)
  25. :koolaid: I wish people would take the effort they put into these petitions and spend it doing something that can actually make a difference.
