  1. I don't disagree.   All I'm saying is that I believe we have a pretty good HCP process here...it works, it's not perfect and it's expensive but it works and it allows us a lot of opportunity to carry in a lot of states that we would otherwise not be able to carry it.   As I said, it's expensive - a major part of the cost is the class. The trainers who conduct the classes (and I've seen them routinely for $60 which isn't exactly a huge sum) deserve to get paid for their time and the range get paid for use of their space...I don't want to see the class requirement go away because that class requirement is a primary reason we have reciprocity with so many states. So, if the class requirement doesn't go away that portion of the cost won't/can't either.   The remainder of the cost, while expensive, is also an unknown in terms of what it "should" cost.  While some have thrown out figures of what they think is should cost, no one here actually knows what it costs the state of Tennessee to process the permit but whatever it costs, the state that is what the person should have to pay. What I don't want to see happen is a abandonment of the HCP process in favor of constitutional carry...I believe we can improve the HCP process with just a couple of small changes AND have constitutional carry so that everyone can be happy. :)
  2. Seriously?  Either he's a coward or he seeks control over others? There can't be any other reason of any kind whatsoever???   Opinions are one thing, we all have them...but most of us recognize them as such.  It must be really comforting to be so ironclad sure of everything!
  3. If I could predict the future with such accuracy as you claim to be able to do I'd be a stock broker (and a very rich one at that).  :)
  4. And why did you feel the need to say so? Just the fact that you did says quite a bit. :dunno:
  5. Why? If you are right it won't matter and no one will care...if you are wrong, again, no one will care.
  6. Good; although ignoring the biggest (by order of magnitude) of them all doesn't make a lot of sense...if you asked the head of any of the others they would all encourage membership in the NRA.   Internet ninja??? That's sort of like the "III percent-ors" isn't it.  :hat:
  7. Well then what you need to do is buy one of my 16s and I'll buy your 17...that way you'll have to alike; I could sell you the one I bought from you and if you really want a 308 we can talk about my AR10 ;)
  8. That's what I was doing wrong...I just changed one of mine, successfully but "editing" the entire original post and while there, changing the prefix.   I haven't been "editing" the original post...I've been trying to do it by going to the "Topic Moderation" link (upper right) where you can either lock the thread or edit the title (including the prefix) but it won't let me save an altered prefix. That does beg of question of why the topic moderation button appears to let you modify the prefix when it won't let you save the thread if you do!
  9. So we don't compromise at all...what do you think will happen then? If we are unwilling to compromise at all then we have to be willing to face all the possible consequences don't we?   I have a feeling some here aren't thinking about ALL the possible consequences; rather, they are only thinking about the consequences they like. Either that or they want the worst of the possible outcomes such as anarchy or civil war.
  10. Have you joined the NRA yet? The GOA? The TFA? The USCCA?   Have you written a letter...made a phone call...donated money to any of the PACs of those organizations?   Have you donated money to the campaigns of good candidates? Made a phone call for them? Knocked on doors for them?   Have you run for office?  Sat in on a legislative committee hearing?   Have you done anything other than rag on Tennessee's firearms laws and rant on the internet about "not compromising our rights"???     Now of course, I realize that most of us poor schlepers haven't gotten where you, in the "patriot community" who study this, are in your "analysis" of the current situation...     but maybe you should stop analyzing full time and spend a little bit of time actually do something constructive. ;)
  11. You can be an uncompromising as you want - just let me know how that works out for you. ;)
  12. Well I'm thinking the "Patriot Community" is so far ahead of the rest of us in our "analysis" because they've left logic and common sense completely out of their thought processes, leaving only hubris.   I wish I could predict the movements of my stock portfolio over the next 12 months as accurately as you purport to predict our history over the next 10 years. :shake:
  13. Perhaps you need to tell us how to use it properly...apparently a lot of us, including a moderator, doesn't know. ;)
  14. Yeah; I'd rather have a pistol too but that wasn't part of the scenario I was given to work with. We'll just have to disagree on the rest.
  15. Well, if you decide you don't like it maybe we can talk about a trade/cash...your SCAR Heavy for my FNH AR10. ;)
  16. That's just sad...at the same time, I'm getting a bit tired and discouraged too; especially the first two or three weeks post election sooooooooooooo....I sort of understand where they are coming from and why they are throwing in the towel. As I don't live in Wilson county this doesn't directly affect me but it's still sad. I think the entire Tea Party movement, if it's to remain at all, will have to find other ways to organize.
  17. If you want a real debate let's talk about why the SCAR will clean the clock of any AR or AK based weapon. ;)
  18. Well...it's difficult to go wrong with a Sig too. ;)
  19. Yeah...but we aren't at that point; at least not yet and one of the reasons the men you quoted gave us our democratic republic to keep it from getting to that point.
  20. Why do you want to keep on about this...do you not think I or others understand that you don't like compromise??? If you don't want to compromise then don't compromise; not I or anyone else has said you should never do so; all I've just suggested that you do so with deliberation and an understanding of the consequences; is that really such a bad idea?   While you are pontificating about compromise, what have you actually done lately to keep from coming to that point?   Are you a member of any pro-2A organizations?  More than just a member, have you contributed $$$ or time to their legislative actions?  Do you know your state and federal elected representatives enough to call them with your concerns?  Do they know you?  Do you support good candidates with your $$$ and time?   You can rail about compromise all you want but I don't see how that helps anything.
  21. I've tried to do so many times...I always get the message that I don't have permission to do so. I believe other people have that problem as well.   Best I can do is note in the thread the item is sold and then I lock it.
  22. I have two SCAR 16s...I have a different FNH produce for 308...I love the SCAR platform and I don't think you could go wrong with the 17.   The SCAR 17 is pricy...that's one of the reasons I went with the FNH AR10. ;)
  23. Okay...I didn't look three days ago; in fact it's been a couple of months since I bought ammo in quantity so even my usual supplier may have raised prices substantially at this point.   I do know I paid quite a bit when I bought emags a few months ago...not $60 though! ;)
  24. I'm not going to defend them but just to sound a note of caution; whether they are actually price gouging or not depends entirely on how much they are having to spend to buy the inventory they are selling. I've not idea what they pay for a pmag (and I suspect no one else here does either). Again, not defending...I just think we should be careful what we accuse them off without having all the facts.
