No Charges for this Guy. WOW!
RobertNashville replied to sschrick's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The actions of the store manager goes against pretty much everything I've ever been taught about when it is and when it isn't appropriate to use deadly force in self defense. I too have no love lost on the thug but being able to shoot someone in the back and the threat over is something that I don't think should be tolerated. Armed citizens are supposed to be sheep dogs...it's not our job to deliver justice. This DA not filing charges just sounds fishy to me...I can't help but wonder what we aren't being told. -
I understand the concern. I have no children but I do have a much younger sister and a still quite young niece and nephew...I'd really like to think that they world they enter as adults will still value liberty and personal responsibility and that the U.S. will have been turned to the right direction; I just don't see it happening for them. So...my comment was not the result of choosing an "option" nearly as much as it was an acknowledgement of something that is already true (based on my observation and experience) that truth being that if making a difference in where the country is going is impossible. I probably won't give up but I'm seen less and less reason to think that things will change for the better.

There is only one reason why we don't have true constitutional carry in Tennessee; the Tennessee State legislature (mostly the RINOs in it). The TFA has been working toward this for a long time but it's been slow. With the recent mass shootings that have happened and thr RINOs who think they "gave us enough" in the worthless "parking lot bill" this past session I don't believe we'll see this come to Tennessee anyhtime soon. After all...it would take the power elite deciding they could trust the rabble (voters)...I don't see that happening soon.

I've never been a huge country music fan but still a fan nonetheless. Since moving to the Nashville area in '96 I've had the opportunity to meed a few of the legends because of work I was doing at time...I regret that I never had the chance to meet the possum. RIP...the music lives on!

Very sad...one of the sad truths in life is that it ends. I loved watching him. :(

I love that movie...and I love that scene! -
While this may have some political pluses, personally I think it would be more useful and practical if every household was required to have a modern handgun and/or shotgun for home defense and then offer basic and intermediate classes (and age appropriate) classes at reasonable rates...that's a "government program" that might actually do some real good and honor 2A rights.

Well the panic buying is happening again...

I guess the "circular firing squad" is a product of frustration. People keep saying Romney wasn't good enough and the Republican party is dead and on and on and on...ALL of which I pretty much agree with. My frustration is that I don't see an answer. I guess I've lost what little hope I had that things could actually be turned around and instead, I simply see those who still care, hanging on by the fingernails as our liberties are slowly but inexorably taken from us. The "hopefuls" people are talking about; well...I've seen major flaws in pretty much all of them...I just don't see anyone out there with credentials, the principles and the appeal to even get elected; much less have any real impact other than on a token level. I'm about at the place where I have two things left to hope for... 1. That I check out of here before it really goes to hell. 2. That I'm wrong about all I just said above. -

I've been on board the Missouri many times when she was in Bremerton WA; the New Jersey as well and am glad I had that chance . Been to the VV memorial several times as well - take tissues with you because if you at still breathing you cannot help yourself. -

I'm not forgetting that...I'm just pointing out that I don't see a viable alternative. I don't believe for a moment that the Republican establish "got the message" (weren't even listening)...in fact, quite the opposite...I think they think Romney lost because he wasn't "middle of the road" enough. However, other than voting for what the Republicans put up or just not bothering; I don't know what else to do...I think in 2012 we were at the tipping point...now...I think the tipping completely over is inevitable and the only question now is how long will it take. -

I've read almost everything I could get my hands on about the attack on Pearl Harbor...I picked up my first book on the attack when I was, I think, in fifth grade. Visiting the Arizona memorial is on my bucket list and I think sometime in the next 12-18 months I'll finally get a chance to do so as a buddy of mine (First Sgt Army) currently stationed at Fort Leonardwood, MO is currently scheduled to be posted and finish out his career in Hawaii so I plan to head out there and visit....I don't really care about Hawaii all that much to be honest but other than Alaska it's the only state I've never been in. :) Thanks for posting this...makes me proud to have served in the greatest navy on earth! -
John, shoot me a PM and let me know what kind of jobs/experience you have. My company is looking to fill a specific position; don't know if you could qualify or not but you never know!

Do you think more presidents like Obama will help us at all? -

Sent a message? Really??? Exactly what evidence do you have that the republican establishment got that "message" or give a shit about it? You can keep marginalizing and denigrating the "progressive RINO's" all you want; I have mostly the same opinion, but you'll never convince me that any of them would be as bad as/make a poorer nomination to the supreme court as the current socialist in chief. -

I'm not "barking" at YOU...I'm barking at everyone, everywhere who decided to either not vote at all or vote for a candidate that had ZERO chance of winning because the R candidate wasn't "good enough". That surely wasn't the only reason that Obama won reelection but I think it would be naive to say it had nothing to do with it. Do I think a RINO is going to protect my 2A rights more than Obama? Actually, yes, I do. Do I KNOW what he would have done? Of course not...we can both guess at what Romney would have done but no one should be even remotely surprised at what Obama was going to do after reelection, with or without a "Sandy Hook". That said, I am not and never will be a one-issue voter and I'm a hell of a lot more concerned with the supreme court nominations Obama will now almost certainly get a chance to make which will impact "2A rights" for decades after Romney or whoever is president now. -

It might well be that our only real hope is a complete economic collapse happening before the next presidential election; that might give the country a chance to start over..maybe even stop using worthless currency that can be printed with nothing to back it. Of course, I don't think it will happen early enough but I'm pretty sure it's coming. -

Would this be a good time to discuss how wearing one of these "badges" would automatically make you a target that any bad guy would want to take out or whether it would make them turn tail and run??? -

So if we can't get an appropriate constitutionalists or libertarian nominated, what then? Should we all vote for whoever the Democrats put up or just not vote? As un-conservative/libertarian as McCain or Romney might have been is having Obama in office really better for the country? Seriously...I understand both the desire and the need for a true conservative who actually follows the constitution but if that's not what we have for a choice what are we supposed to do then??? -

At the risk of offending someone reading this, I would suggest that the person who would buy such as "badge" as anything other than a joke is exactly the same type of person who probably shouldn't be carrying around a firearm in the first place. I know...I know...it's his"right" and I agree that it is...it's just that sometimes I think it's a shame that having a "right" doesn't guarantee the mental capacity to exercise it properly and safely. -
I suspect that's true, at least for anyone who bought one (especially at inflated prices) and not because they really wanted or needed one but just because they were afraid they wouldn't be able to buy one later in case there ever came a time that they actually DID want on!

Thanks for posting this! As I recently learned and think it worth passing along again; "not being charged" is NOT sufficient under TN law to win a wrongful death suit (in other words, simply not being charged does not provide the affirmative defense to such a suit). For the TN protections against such suits to apply a judge (or at least someone in authority) has to make a FINDING that the shooting was justified. We all need to keep that in mind!

Nothing and I understand that some of the smarter (relative term here) home invaders do just that. That's part of what prompted my question....if your door bursts open at 5 in the morning or 10 in the evening; waiting to take action until you figure out if it's really the police or just thugs will likely mean that you don't get to take any action at all. I keep at lease one sidearm within reach of my hand at all times and in each room at home exactly so that I can respond a quickly as possible.

What is there to "face"? What are you trying to convince people of that you think they don't know? The executive order referenced was signed over a month ago and BEFORE the vote in the Senate so it's already in force...has anything changed yet? If they do change what are are we supposed to do? I've had no doubt and I have no doubt that Obama will try just about anything to get his way just like any other child throwing a tantrum...is that news to anyone? What exactly do you want me to do about it?....what are YOU going to do about it? People got what they voted or (or in some cases, didn't vote)...I hope all those "firearm enthusiasts" who thought Romney wasn't "X" enough for them are happy. ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES
