Yeah we have shopped around. The cheapest classes we are finding is 50.00 and 75.00 classes. Both charge around 30.00 for the firearms to rent.

Cheapest I have found on the colt is ultramax 200 grain at 31.99 at cabellas. But by the time you pay shipping and handling it would be just as cheap to buy it locally.

He really likes the public defender even better than his 1994 colt detective special that he traded it for. I told him when he bought it he could expect to pay more for the ammo. Hello all, My dad is wanting to get his hcp finally. He has been saying for years he was going to do it and is just now finally following through on it. He has a new Taurus Public Defender that he is going to carry for self defense. He will use it to qualify. Our question is this. Since the 45 colts are so expensive to go range shooting (34.00 a box or higher sometimes) would he be allowed to use the .410 000 buckshot. I told him since "technically" the barrel is rifled I cannot see how this would be a problem but that we would need to check with someone to make sure. What say yall? I mostly am looking for answers from people that actually give hcp classes to others like Phantom6 or what not.

Right, I like the loaded springfield, or the trp myself. Kimber in my opinion does not hold a candle to either one.

Only reasons I go to gunshows is because sometimes, I can find that hard to find gun that I have not been able to find anywhere else and usually at a reasonable price.

My ex fiancee lived there. They have a bunch of weird and crazy people around there. It felt like I had just gone to "deliverance" as the people were backwoods as hell (least the ones I met) and were weird to. No offense to any "good" people that live there but from what I saw i wouldnt live there. Now I am from the country and have met a few back woods types myself but these people I met in trousdale took the cake. Needless to say this relationship did not last long. I wont get into it but lets just say it didnt work out.

Most of the rk shows in the knoxville area charge 10.00 but you can print out a coupon online for 1.00 off which I do so it cost 9.00 then.

Yeah, My father is already very proficient with a gun. He used to be an NRA firearms instructor as well as a firearms instructor for TVA. He had not shot a handgun since 1994 (colt detective special) so when he purchased the public defender he was able to shoot the bulls eye ragged at 25 yards consistantly. I was amazed. He shoots alot better than me LOL. I know phantom6 classes for hcp are a little high but he includes the NRA basic pistol practicum in there with them for people that maybe have never held or shot a gun before. So that is why his classes cost more. Phantom6 only charges 175 dollars for personal protection inside the home course for pistols. I think that is reasonable.
