  1. like the smoothed look!!! Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
  2. Stevens 200 is imo the best way to go. It is the same action as savage 110 so all the savage aftermarket stuff fits. Many barrels, stocks, and triggers floating around out there. Dimes at 100 isn't to much of stretch with the stevens.
  3. Had to leave a message with glock who then left me a voice mail. I called back and left another message with my address and today had 2 new recoil spring assemblies in the mail box. That was easy.
  4. Be gentle the block on top of vise was put against the sight then tapped out the factory one. Reinstalled the mepros the same way then used a caliper to make sure it was centered. Used red loc tight to glue it also seems like I read to do that somewhere but that's what the red stuff is on the blocks.
  5. ran 4 mags of random ammo throught the old 27 with the 18 lb wolff springs and guide rod today and so far I like it. Was afraid that light slow stuff wouldn't cycle right but no problems to report. Didn't try the 16 lb springs but will play with them too when time allows. I'm happy again!!!
  6. well glock didn't even ask any questions and is mailing a recoil rod/spring assembly. no body has any reports on the aftermarket rod/springs?
  7. Can only find a hand full of instances like this on the net considering how many of these little glocks are out there I was pleased to find there wasn't many having the problem. Then it's also nice to see that I'm not the only one. Just ordered both, I have tinkeritis and will just have to see for my self how they work. Would still like to hear if anyone has tried the different weights in a 27.
  8. 2 point style using the mounts like on this one. They are gg&g. one mounts between reciever and stock, the other between mag and end cap or mag extension. pretty much just a strap threaded through them. i'm to lazy at the moment to post a pic with the strap on it but will get one later if ya pm me. what luck i didn't have to get up. went shootin today sister inlaw took a pic of my sexy arse.
  9. had one, liked it but never played with it so sold it to get a 30sf which some how turned into another 308 project. Word of advise... get the glock rail not the pic rail. Pic rail hangs on stuff sometimes when drawing. I had the pic rail, it functioned great and looked bad arse but glock rail is more functional.
  10. the bigger spring on the oe recoil rod/spring pack sprung over the lip on the rod assembly which made it slide back over the smaller spring; so after a little online research i've found that this happens some times on the subcompacts and am now ordering a wolff rod and spring. i'm sure this will be asked so the gun has about 300 rounds through it. now the question: should i get the 16lb spring which i think is the factory spring rating or the 18lb? maybe both and try each? gonna call glock on monday and see if they offer to send a replacement also.

    So I am torn!

i swap around and sell guns all time. wouldn't bother me to get rid of something i never play with to get something i will play with.
  13. .243-300 win mag and others will do in deer and hogs. Being partial to the 30 cals 308, 30-06, 300 win mag I elect for the 308 cause of a shooting addiction and it can get out to 400- 500yds with out the sore shoulder. All three of the 30s are easy to find ammo for with 308 being the cheapest 30-06 will get you a couple hundred more fps but if you're gonna have the long action i don't see any reason not to go with 300 win mag. now rifle choice for a budget go stevens 200, it is a savage 10 action and barrel with a stiff trigger and cheap stock. You can upgrade with aftermarket parts if you want, all the savage stuff fits the stevens. Then the savage 10 variants are about equal if not better (more bang for your buck) than Remington 700 and you can find parts easily if something breaks or you want to upgrade with either of these.

    Glock?

sold my 21sf to get a 30sf. want a 23 and have a 27 that if someone offerd me new price i would sell it and get another one.
  15. that's stupid. I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!! That's some slick work.
  16. adjust the strap to where you want it and put a safety pin through the 2 layers of strap just before the adjuster.
  17. of the options listed i say .223 unless your regularly shoting animals over 250ish yards. Until you get past that 250 yd distance the 22-250 doesn't really give much advantage. Then of course if your shots are 300+ yds out i say 22-250.
  18. had a mossberg 835 with that "woodland" camo pattern it was an early 90s model. Fella i work with has the same model gun with that pattern. So mossberg did use that pattern in the early-mid 90s. pretty sure its called woodland or maybe 2 words wood land.
  19. Stevens!!! They are a savage minus the trigger. All parts interchange. 308 is a great choice. It will get you to 500 yds+ with a little practice and quality ammo is cheaper to get some trigger time with. The 308 is fairly easy on the shoulder too. __________ Looked a little deeper into the post so here's some more stuff. My opinions take it or leave it: I'll take the short action .308 over the long action 30-06 any day unless i'm hunting for something bigger than white tail or at longer distances than 400 yds. Well then if i were hunting for bigger animals i'ld go for 300 win mag or bigger. 30-06 is an in-betweener 30 cal cartridge. The 308win, 30-06spring, and 300 win mag are all the same 30 cal bore but the amount of powder you can crame in the case is different. You will gain 200-300 fps going with the 30-06 over the 308 which isn't really much. Last i checked there were more 308 factory cartridge options than 30-06. (look around for yourself and see what you find, if you prove me wrong great) now the 270 is a fast cartridge and if you're not regularly shooting animals at 250 yds plus, many factory loads (not all) have a tendancy to zip right through a deer with out causing as much damage as the 308 or 30-06. In other words the 308 or 30-06 is going to put more knock down on and in the deer at TN ranges. there were a few cartridges mentioned earlier that do not have a nice variety of factory ammo available such as 260rem. While it's a great cartrige it has just never really caught on. 7mm-08 is also sweet little cartridge that is catching on fast but again not as much factory ammo out there yet as 308. 30-06, or 270. Finally like glockster mentioned the mag cartridges are going to add cost with out benefit for TN ranges and will donate a sore shoulder if you practice which you should. i say keep up the hunt for a 308win stevens.
  20. Well ain't that just great. This is bs....Things like this ruffle my feathers. The gov has something screwed up and wants u to pay directly for their screw up. Hope everything works out for you.
  21. So did the op get the okay?
  22. I say glock too. More user fixable and upgradable. The xd feels great and looks better to me but I'm a tinkerer and the xd just isn't as tinkerer freindly.
  23. I sandwich the slide between a couple peices of wood in a vise. Then tap out old sight with wood block and hammer. Put the new one in the same way and measure with a caliper to make sure it's centered. Some roll there eyes at it but works well for me and I havn't screwed up anything yet. Just be gentle
  24. Best Glock 27 Worst Glock 21sf, the gun is great I just never use it but it's one of those I always wanted it purchases and can't talk myself into getting rid of it yet.
  25. Yep probably come back ok in a day or so. Got a buddy that runs a gun shop,he was denied applying at his own store. They said the numbers on the gun came upp stolen. It was new lol. Guess somebody hit a wrong button.
