  1. That's a great range. We should do a Meet and Shoot there sometime. Oh, did you get your free dog on the way out of the range?
  2. Sounds like a great time was had by all. I wish I could have gone, just didn't have the transportation this weekend. Maybe next time. Coop
  3. Welcome from the 'Boro.
  4. Donation Update...... Sorry, no pictures. Caleb and I want to send a THANK YOU to our own KahrMan. Bill was kind enough to meet me today and donate 3 cans of powder, a box of loaded 30-30's and a box of .45 brass. He tells me the powder is supposed to work great in the 30-30. Caleb really appreciates all the donations that he has received from the good folks here at TGO. A man in New Mexico just sent Caleb a Lyman .30 mold that will work great with his 30-30. Another person in Canada saw that the mold had no handles, so he is sending a pair. Caleb is almost ready to start casting his own. Thanks again Bill. It was a pleasure to meet you. Hope we get to shoot together soon. Mike
  5. You might end up killing the deal when you produce the bill of sale. Have it understood beforehand that you want to do this. It will save a lot of problems. Don't just pull it out after the money has changed hands. You might search this forum for a previous thread about BOS. It seems to be a love/hate thing. Mike
  6. Gun blueing must be a dying art or something. I took a Ruger revolver that I had $125 in, to On Target to see about having it reblued, and they quoted me more than I had in the gun to have it blued. The sales person offered to Duracoat it for me, but wanted over $100 for that.
  7. I spent the day at Viola Valley Shooting Range in Viola TN. Nice open place to shoot. No range officers. About 6 covered shooting areas. Each area has a pistol berm, a 50 yd berm and a 100 yd berm. One shooting lane to 200 yards.Shooting benches and chairs. For $6 for all day, it is a bargain. I think we should have a Meet and Shoot there. Mike
  8. Crayola crayon works well too.
  9. Another Donation Update.... I want to send out a big THANK YOU to a donor that will remain anonymous . He was kind enough to send Caleb a box of reloading stuff ! Caleb got the box today and in it was Lee Alox, lead dipper, and rifle brass!!! I talked to Caleb just now and he wanted me to once again thank not only this person, but all the good folks here at TGO for all they have done to help him in his reloading. He plans to be casting soon. Another member here has promised a Lee lead melter and some #2 alloy to go in it. Here is Caleb with the brass and Alox. I think that green shirt must be his lucky reloading shirt.
  10. Great idea. I've always liked the Glock holster, but don't wear mine anymore. Sounds like a good rainy day project. Any changes you would make to it before I get out the JB Weld?
  11. I too have used old blue jean legs for sandbags. Work well, they are free, and may never wear out. I used clay type cat litter in mine(new, not used).

    sks mags

People keep trying to make the SKS into an AK. The 10 round stock mag works. Period.
  13. Start by deciding what hulls to use, collect a lot of them, then decide what powder and wad to use. I like the AA hulls myself and use Green Dot to load with. Have fun!!!
  14. Another welcome from the 'Boro.
  15. My job was eliminated last June when gas prices went to $4 a gallon. That meant that Jet fuel went to $8 a gallon. With no one eating out due to the gas price, my companys stock fell in price. When it hit bottom, they stopped flying the jet, laid off the entire flight dept. And now Congress and the President have made corporate aircraft, "evil". So, no one is buying or flying corporate jets for fear of being labeled. So, I've been out of work since June 10. No hope of another flying job. Trying to find something else that I may be good at.
  16. It was a great day to get out of the house and do some boolit casting today. Had just received a Lee .452-190 SWC mold and was anxious to try it out. After about 5 wrinkled boolits to warm up the mold, it started dropping pretty boolits. The only downside is it's a single cavity mold and it goes a little slow. The .452 got too hot, so started casting .457-340 RNFP for my 45-70. Here is the results of about an hours casting. Now just need to find more wheelweights. Mike
  17. Boolit casters never reveal the source of the precious silver metal! My precious!!!!!!
  18. As I get older and my eyesight gets worse, I find it hard to focus on the sights of my rifle and still see the target. Has anyone here ever tried the Lyman or Merit Diopter that sticks on to your glasses? It seems to work for some shooters. I'd just like some opinions on it before I go spend $18-$65 for it. Thanks.
  19. Update Caleb wants to send out a big THANK YOU to our own BigPoppa! Bo was kind enough to send Caleb a gift certificate from Midway USA for reloading supplies. This generous gift will keep Caleb in bullets and powder for a good while. Thank you Bo!!! Anyone else wanting to help this boy continue learning to reload and cast bullets, please let me know.
  20. I've had a NM M1-A for the last 30 years. Great rifles. Wouldn't sell mine.
  21. My Dillon self calibrates every time I turn it on. When yours comes on, does it not read 0.00? After seeing one online, I'd suggest you push the Tare button with nothing on the scale and see if it zeros. Just a guess, good luck. Looks like they are cheap enough.
  22. My tire shop has stopped giving or selling WW. They are reusing them on the inside of the rim. If anyone in Rutherford County as a source they want to share, please let me know. Thanks,
  23. And we're getting the lead where????
  24. This looks like a decent site: http://www.breadonthewaters.com/0167_reload_ammo.html
