  1. I thought this was a pretty good show, but there was not a lot of individuals walking around with stuff for sale. I did see a really nice Savage .223 in camo on a table. And another "private sale" table had a Howa .223 with the Hogue stock, and a big scope. Was tempted to buy it. Took my CPO Sig 228 and carried it around, but nobody seemed to interested in buying or trading today. Money must be really tight.
  2. I have the Loadbook for the TC Contender and it does list many VV loads. Don't know about the .40 Another caliber specific load manual is put out by Midway. Called the Midway LoadMap. It is a great manual for one caliber. But, my .45acp manual does not have VV powders in it.
  3. Nice, very unique!
  4. Maybe a little penetrating oil overnight on the ball detent?
  5. I guess I would be worried that the weapon was out of my possession. Could you get in trouble with the Feds for that?
  6. I just got to wondering what special precautions and procedures you have to take when shooting at a public range. For example, at Stones River range, when you go downrange to change targets, can you leave your weapon unsecured on the bench? Does someone have to watch it or do you have to stay with it at all times? Just wondering. Thanks.
  7. Have never seen either at this show.
  8. The range in Viola is really good too. Lots of acreage and no range officers! $6 for all day.
  9. On Target is not a very good location for socializing while shooting. Any outdoor location will be better.
  10. I don't understand what this has to do with Knob Creek? Is there no sales tax there? Here is what the link says: H. B. 4521 (By Delegates Varner, Perry, White, Kominar, Cann, Shaver, Perdue, Williams, Stowers, Hunt and Miley) [introduced February 17, 2010; referred to the Committee on Finance.] A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §11-15-9n, relating to creating a sales tax holiday for purchases of guns and ammunition during the first weekend in October. Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia: That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §11-15-9n, to read as follows: ARTICLE 15. CONSUMERS SALES AND SERVICE TAX. §11-15-9n. Annual exemption for purchases of firearms. There is established an annual sales tax holiday on the purchase of firearms from the taxes imposed by this article, beginning the first weekend in October at 12:01 a.m. on that Friday and ending at midnight on Sunday of the same weekend of every calendar year. This section shall be known as "The Second Amendment Appreciation Act". NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to exempt the purchase of firearms during the first weekend of October from the sales tax imposed by §11-15.
  11. Did you mean to make the choices all on Friday? I'd prefer Owl Hollow or Viola on a Saturday or Sunday.
  12. I remember going to Law Enforcement Equipment Company in Nashville back in the mid 70's. They had stacks of those new in the box for $99 each. The matching suppressor was also only $99.
  13. Somebody had put the wrong size sights on my228 at some point in it's life. The CSR was very friendly and sent me a complete set of the correct sights for free. That's real customer service.
  14. Welcome to TGO and thanks for your service.
  15. Cut the barrel off. Make it a project gun.
  16. My SAR-1 shoots the Wolf HP's just fine.
  17. The Murfreesboro show is pretty good. I'll be there on Sunday.
  18. I have a mid 70's Colt Gold Cup. It's still working well for me after 35 years. It doesn't look new anymore, but still shoots better than me.
  19. Can't most of those manuals be downloaded for free online?
  20. I'm a Life Member and don't get any mass mailings from the NRA. Don't know why. I do get a weekly email from the NRA-ILA with updates on all the states including TN. But I did sign up for that.
  21. Good idea rightwinger. A new excuse to buy a new tool. Now what else can I do with a heat gun???
  22. I can't believe there is so much hate for the NRA here. Where would we be now if not for them. Do you think the anti's would have let the AWB expire if not for the NRA and its huge membership? Every time the anti's start trouble, the NRA is there taking care of us. Do they make a lot of money doing it? Probably. But they get results. Take the NRA out of the gun lobby equation and see where you will be in 3 years!
  23. They could do better sometimes, but they are all that is standing between us and the anti's. I'm a Life Member.
  24. Glad you solved the mystery. Have fun shooting the 22/45. They are great shooters.
  25. Just heard that Bart will be the next head of NASA.
